Thread: Icons over heads
The key word is options. Add 100 of these things - I'm sure they would be great - but make them all user-toggled. Also, an important consideration is to make them an option to see as well as display - meaning if you don't want to display any of them you don't have to.
This is something I'd like to see added to a lot of things - especially the friends list. More functionality is great - just don't make it more intrusive then it needs to be in terms of privacy.

squad leaders should get "camps" that are hased on hasty fighting positions or improved fighting positions

depending on the skill of the SL and the level of the camp these could be anything from a number of "shallow graves" that offer some protection to "foxholes" that offer good protection a camp might even include a small comand bunker with an area for treating wounded soldiers possibly even an installed shield generator if an engineer has built one.
if developers can design scout camps these are the same difficulty
By the time they get the icon, they're probably doomed. I try to watch who's taking damage and the only question is can I select their name on the left and get to them in time. Finding the injured isn't that hard unless you have a very large group and the names go off the screen.
1. I would like to be able to move some names to the right side of the screen.
2. I would like to be able to click on thier name and have my character auto run towithin range to heal them. Maybe follow would do this, but it's tough to select follow in time (I've never tried, and I don't want to take the time to unfollow when a dark jedi is breathing down my neck)

That would be great for SL. Can you have so he can do at least two targets? Like a prime and second target for like a que for the next target so everyone know where to start shooting after the 1st dies. Also can you allow us to assign hot keys so we can quickly target these ques?
Also while you add it can you expand the exp range out to 128m? I can't tell you how many 10,000s of exp I lost in the last few weeks by being just afew meters out of range.
It would be great for SL? Yeah, no! Not really. As a novice ability, perhaps. But no it wouldn't be great for SL. Something that actually does something would be great for SL. This ability should be open to any groupleader.
Beyond that what happens when someone is healed? Are they going to keep the icon above their head or does the groupleader need to delete it? Also, will the medics be able to shift tab or alt tab through the targets you set? If you are grouped it is much easier to use the ctrl + number to select a groupmember to target.
No, do not give this to SL because then people will think we are satisfied. Fourth or Fifth highest skill point requirement to master and maybe third weakest prof in the game. Give SL substantive benefits!
I like it if its filtered to group only. No need drawing a crowd of bad guys to the weakest link.
Don't need....sorry folks this is just fluff....see this as more data they would be required to push and thus, more lag in populated areas (more lag in medical center upon entering etc.).
It would be nice to push less data...like ...I dont need the 'examine' ability on characters ...fluff only....if you give the option...stream me the data after I ask for it...not when they character shows up on my radar.
If they are doing this great...but if they arent ... they should and should be looking for ways to minimize the data they have to stream when a character enters my radar or viewing area....not increasing it.
Doesnt help an SL either....just gives him some Fluff instead of something useful /boggle
Make thr "wounded" status just like the AFK, RP, LFG, etc...
sorry if someone already said this, I didn't read the entire thread first. If you did, I support your idea.![]()

Today one of the programmers decided to add a floating icon over people's heads who were badly wounded (he was playing a medic, and found it useful). This led to a discussion on how a feature like this might work--what filters you'd want, who should be able to see the icons, how you turn them on and off.
You would have to ask a medic if he would like this, which I am not, but he already has our HAM bars visible if they are in the same group. If he doesn't need it, then it will cause lag for us if we are in the Dathomir caves, etc... If you do put it in, make it optional so we can get rid of is. My first reaction though is to not waste your time with this feature.
Another suggestion was the ability for a group leader to set an icon over a target (I believe that the squad leaders have already asked for something like this as an ability). Ability for anyone? For SL's only?
I am a SL, and there are SL who have asked for this ability, but I am not one of them. It is better that everyone in the group assist thepuller or the tank, which mostSL's or neither. It is inefficient for aSL toselect the appropriate target, have the tank attack it, and then have everyone attack it as well when you can just have the tank attack and most everyone hit assist. If you make /assist work properly (see EQ, sorry), then thats all you need really to coordinate a group properly.
What do you think about all these notions?
See above, but I am flattered that you guys have read over the SL proposals. That is enough to get you 5 stars in my book!
What I think, By Jordan Kayne:
I think icons should be based on proffesion and allegience. For instance, the medic should be able to see who is wounded as long as the wounded are same side/nuetral. And ONLY the medic should see this. The COMBAT medic, should get to see everyone who is wounded, and can then direct his and his teams attacks at the wounded.
I like the idea of only having an icon appear in a med center or camp; however, is this possible without this working when a med droid is used?
Also, I like the idea of having this a feature that can be turned on or off; however, I don't think that this should only be for medics or group leaders. The injured party should be able to turn it off as well -- especially if this icon can be used outside a med center or camp.
Also, if this icon happens on in the med center or camp (or in the presence of a med droid), there might be an issue concerning range:
a) Do both parties have to be within a certain range of the med center/camp/droid in order for the icon to be visible?
b) Could the medic (if onlyvisible to medic) be close to their med droid (or standing in theboundary of the camp or standing in the door of the med center) and see the icon above a distant injured party -- someone outside the camp/med center?
c) Could the icon only appear above those characters within the healing range of the character? Would this range increase with increased skill level? Would combat medics have a greater icon viewing range?
Just wondering...
