Greets ...

Noooooooo Icon's Floating over people's heads ...

It already looks silly when I run across NPC's that have that blue icon over their head.

So the problem you are trying to solve is:

I am a medic and I don't want to have to "Tab,Tab,Tab" around to look at people's HAM bars

That is the problem?

If you were going to do this the following need to be observed.

A) This icon only shows up when folks are in a place of healing. (Camps, PA, etc).

B) This icon can be turned off in the options menu, like the ping box

C) This option can be toggled on with a Keyboard Combo

....

Icons over a designated target by *any* group leader would be usefull. This should not be limited to just Squad Leaders ... as the vast majority of groups don't have squad leaders.

Heck ... a group leaders of any type should be able to place an icon over somebody ... whether they are the leader of a band (whom to /denyservice to) of the leader of a hunting party ... don't make it squad leader only ... make it a group leader command.

Didnt read the whole thread so dont know if someone said this. But,i think thebest option would be to only have your group members see it, as in PvP it would be like painting a target over your head.

I like the idea however, I'd like to see this visible to people in the group, or make it a toggle for the player for others to view outside of the group.

That is the best idea, the Icon should be controlled by the player or squad/group leader.

Due to the use of economy and people wanting /needing paying for services, they should have an option of saying they need help or not. Not have the icon automatically set for them. Most systems that produce a wounded icon do not have a player economy attached so healing is free in them.

As a medic you can always select the player and do a /diagnose anyways. But an easier way to select other players would be a real advantage.

But a player activated icon would be better thanthe player spamming 'heal me now !!!!!', but should be set as a player controlled request not automatic.

Maybe alsoadd an Icon that is can be set to a hotkey that means 'player needs help', may help some people instead of trying to type 'help' while running.

Another suggestion was the ability for a group leader to set an icon over a target (I believe that the squad leaders have already asked for something like this as an ability). Ability for anyone? For SL's only?

Why don't you just make /assist work properly and then move on from there?

When I target my buddy and then type /assist, target indicator does indeed switch to his target. However, if I want to actually fire on that target I have to physically select the target and then fire.

It should work like in EQ. I target my buddy and /assist, my target becomes whatever my buddy was targeting. Ican then start attacking without having totry and click on just that MOB in the erm.. mob. I have a macro made up but I don't use it because the /assist functionality is broken IMO.

Also, targeting in general needs an overhaul. The way my targets are picked when I am Tabbing around is ludicrous. More often than not TAB targets the furthest MOBs away. Then I have to cycle through tons of irrelevant MOBs just to get to the one I actually want to kill. Very frustrating.

If I have 5000 points of faction with a group TAKE THEM OFF OF MY TAB TARGET list or allow me to somehow customize what my TAB key targets.

A squad leader ability to set a flag over an enemies head I think would be cool too if they think it will make them happy. I justdon't think that that in order to do that type of "shoot at my target" functionality should be limited to the SLs.Ulimately though, getting the /assist to work would be ideal for my gameplay experience. /assist is worthless at the moment.

Today one of the programmers decided to add a floating icon over people's heads who were badly wounded (he was playing a medic, and found it useful). This led to a discussion on how a feature like this might work--what filters you'd want, who should be able to see the icons, how you turn them on and off.

As far as a medic icon, sheesh if someone is playing a healer type they should be watching the groups HAM bars. Heck, im not even a medic and I find myself watching the HAMs (throwback to EQ cleric and druid healer dayz, EQ clerics were probably the coolest Combat Medic type class). That is what I do and any of the Medics that I group with too. I rarely if ever have to ask my in-group medic to slap a heal on me. When I am just about empty of HAM (happens often, Carbineer here =P).. "Bada Ding! has just healed you for XXX amount of damage."

That being said, I'm sure in groups that are approaching 20 that this would probably be useful and maybe even more confusing. The persons who "should" see it by default are anyone with Medic skillz I imagine. It would be cool if anyone could viewthem and that everyone can have that toggle.

That would be great for SL. Can you have so he can do at least two targets? Like a prime and second target for like a que for the next target so everyone know where to start shooting after the 1st dies. Also can you allow us to assign hot keys so we can quickly target these ques?

Also while you add it can you expand the exp range out to 128m? I can't tell you how many 10,000s of exp I lost in the last few weeks by being just afew meters out of range.

I agree with Kirillian_NaJax. ( didn't read the last few pages, so I agree with anyone else who said this too). There really needs to be a way to tab through friendly targets, or PC's just like you can tab through mobs. That is the feature I miss most as a doctor in this game.

It would be silly if only a SL could see it as the SL isnt necessarily going to be the groups medic... My idea/contribution to this would be allow it to be a SL skill and act similarly - enable the icons to people grouped with the squad leader. This way, enemies couldn't pick off the badly wounded players, it would count as a SL skill, and not encumber this good idea too much by having a bunch of pre-requisites or silly combinations (IE: only the SL could see it, huh?)

Sounds interesting. What about an option to turn off the I icon over NPC's that give out missions, and perhaps having it off by default to make the game more interesting.

It'd be nice if the SL could target a wounded person, and hit his special which makes all the Medics in the group select and forcefully heal that target (if they have any stims that is).

No, it wouldn't. Medics would hate this.
