Hello TH

A lot of players is bored about spamming or AFK-spamming. But personally I need to do that to get buyers in my shop.

We discussed of the problem on a player forum, and we found a good idea :

Creating chat channels.

Each channel will get a specific item type (armors, weapons, housing, clothing, misc), and will cover the whole galaxy.

I think this is a god idea for many reasons :

-players are bored to see the huge spams in cities such as Coronet, Bestine or Theed.

-It would be far easier for a player to find a shop with stocked vendors, and a specific item type.

-Spammers would cover the whole galaxy, but not on spatial. Player looking for an item would look at the specific channel only when they need an item. They will not get to see all the spam all the time, only when they really need something.

I hope you will think about that, nearly all players would like to see changes about that. And an important point is that it would not be difficult to do that. Guildchats act like this, so why not creating such enhancement that would really improve the game ?

DearThunderheart,

Is there any remote chance that after the artistic team is done with all the heavy duty stuff with space, GCW, Jedi, Wookie Armor and the other mountain of stuff on their table that they can come up with more fish?

I think fishing in this game is a fairly lost art, but those of us that really enjoy it would like to see more of a variety. I'm not looking for more than the 7 fish per planet. I'm looking for each planet to have different looking fish instead of the same 7 seven fish dressed in a different color.

I dont post alot but how about this idea...Might have been brought up before, maybe had it in the early stages of BETA:

How about a Farmer Profession? I know different professions use different things, so i think it can be of use. Plus it would require use of some other professions as well.Heres just a rough outlook, im sure some of you other people can add more to it.

1. Farmer relies on Creature Handler to go out and tame a couple babies for him. A Male and Female. He has to wait for them to grow up to adult status, then start making herds for you or whatever(period of time it would take)

2. Architect needs to make the "Pens for the animals(meat, bone and hide), Milking Harvesters(for dairy products)Bird Cages for the Avian ANIMALS" or whaterever to hold these animals.

3. A chefneeds to make the foodfor the animals to grow nice and fat heh.

4. Maybe a BE to make some kind of good nutrients to add to the food for them to eat to make it where the Farmer can Harvest more meat, milk, hide or whatever.

Therefore aCHEF needs milk and meat for the food he makes (gets from the FARMER), alsoCHEF needs the BE nutrients to make food to make animals fatter, The Farmer depends on THE CHEF for food, THE ARCHITECT for the holding pens, farm machinery or whatever. (can have some kind of milking harvester like cows have heh)

Just a rough outline, im sure people will have some more ideas or can rephrase this a little better then i did. But i would definetly be A FARMER.

Ooh make it so it would take a considerable amount of time for the farmer to make these things so that scout will still be useful. I know it would affect scouts but didnt harvesters collecting minerals do the same to artisans? I mean like the surveying tree for artisan? only comparison i can think of at the time. Thats my idea anyway and i think it would be a blast.

This is what I'd like to see -

1. Better variation in armor (i.e. everyone doesn't have 80% composite) so people will wear different armors for different situations, because now we only see one type of armor and you HAVE to have it for PVP and high end PVE. On that note also make armor have enough bad effects on you that not using armor actually isn't commiting suicide

2. Removal of rebel overts, Imperial coverts - HUGE benefits to overt imperials (money, good equipement, free stuff, pets, NPC support, everything) Need to make it very attractive to be an Imperial and very very difficult and dangerous to be a rebel. i say no overts rebels because there would be none in the timeline except for like Luke, Leia etc. No Imperial coverts because if you join the Empire you should have the safety and training etc. to flaunt your allegiance without too much fear

3. Remove doctor / entertainer buffs - buffs make PVP and PVE impossible unless you have them, and take away from spice and food use. Instead have characters stats grow as they progress. Like 5k permenant HAM as max for master of elite/hybrid professions. 2k for novice elite/hybrid. etc. Then you could get rid of the PVP damage reduction, wouldn't need buffs, and make PVE fun and actually possible to do solo for any good xp gains.

4. dominance of ranged combat. Yes I said it. This goes for PVE and PVP. Shooting lasers at a creature from 50 meters away should be a LOT easier and more powerful then walking up to it and kicking it. A melee PVPer should get brought down quick if they are running at your from 70meters away. If you are a TKM / fencer etc. then at 1m away yeah you should have it easier in PVE and PVP then ranged. But ranged should own. Period. Also it is so stupid that just about all PVE combat is against creatures that attack you at melee range. This is a game set in a futuristic world. A Star Wars world. It is a game of guns and spaceships and hover cars etc. Someone who wants to use a sword or their fists needs to play a different game. Completely remove melee combat professions? Yeah. Remove all melee combat moves/ skills etc.?? No. Bounty hunters/smuggler/commandos etc. should have some melee skills WITHIN their respective trees. But an entire profession dedicated to melee combat? No. Shouldn't be in SWG. Should be in EQ or something. Not SWG. It's like joining the army and only learning to fence. You got towar with your sword and your toast. Some sniper picks you off. Ever seen Indiana Jones? The first one? The dude is all waving his sword around like crazy and yelling and Jones just pulls his pistol and bam, it's over. That scene right there is more Star Wars then all of SWG is.

Icould seriously go on for days and days, but I am starving and it's time for lunch. Flame on.

NPC Cities - Need to have store fronts and apartment living. I saw that the devs are considering this and I hope they implement it. I think this will cut down huge on the spammers outside the starports because it will be easier to find shops and items. I have posted on this before, I believe this help bring the community back together again. Some will say that this will hurt player cities, but I have an idea to help them too, see the next idea.

Static spawns/POI - I think the dynamic spawns are nice for missions and wild spawns of mobs, and poi's are nice but most of them are just setttings with nothing to do. I think there needs to be some static spawns sprinkled through out the worlds. This would give people a reason to go outfrom the starports and form small groups from all different skill levels. Also this would help bring in more content. This would also help player cities because they would strategicely place there cities in areas that would have services or goods close to a static spawn. This would give players reason to travel to that player city. Get combat players to a city, then merchants, doctors, and entertainers will follow.

NPC Vendors - I know I will get flamed for this one, but the player economy sucks, it's broken. I checked with artisan's calulators what it costs to mine, make and mass produce a product. I found that most artisans are marking up their prices 200-1000%. It all started with the 3 to 1 ratio for resources because the limit of the bazaars was 3000 credits. So artisans put 1000 units and sold it for 3000 credits on the bazaar and started the 3 to 1 standard. I also found that finding decent low to medium items like armor and weapons is very hard, and if you do it's priced too high. The supply and demand idea does not work in this game. Competition is suppose give the consumers better prices, but in SWG it is that opposite. It's whoever sells it the highest becomes the standard price througout the galaxy. In real life that is called controling market value which illegal and there are laws against it. But in a game you can't control that. With prices so inflated, I think putting in NPC vendors would bring under control. Also I hate searching and using my gaming time looking for items I need or want. With player cities being empty andvendors not being stocked because people are leaving or changing professions, it doens't make my experience in SWG very fun. I should able to find a weapon or armor that is basic with no experimentation or bonus on it from a NPC vendor. The prices are based from a personal extractor on a 50% resource pool with wind power and only a 50% markup for profit. Then player will always make the item better just on resources, experimentation, and skill. Then when thereonly masters that are making the high end items, a new player or a player that is changing professions canfind the lower end items. This would make places like the Jawa Trading depot a place to go to.

Armor - there needs to more types and colors, everyone does look like composite clones

Dungeons - There needs to be more, but at different levels. So a new can player can do one and keep doing different one as they progress through their profession. It will make it fun for everyone and retain players. Also the loot in the last two dungeons have to have a artisan in involve to make what you getfrom aschematic. This is nice for the artisan, but don't do that to every new dungeon you make. The combat people are getting annoyed with that. They do all the work and get the schematic and then have to pay the artisan to make it, and then the artisan can make more because the schematic has 3-5 more uses. What is wrong with that picture. Lets try to reward the players with some loot that they instantly get. Also having more dungeons will help the static spawn idea which will help player cities.

ok here is my feedback in which i think the game should have:

1- Diffrent armor, i am getting board seeing the same compo armoron everyone that doespvp. I want armor and guns to play a bigger role against eachother like "rock paper sissors" certain guns, meele wepons, and brawling take out certain types of armor depending on what gun or whatever it maybe

2- Get better with level increase, like i believe that people with a way higher skill should have at least a slight increase on there HAM stats or somthing i just dont think its great that after all the hard work ur just as vulneruble as a newbie if u have all there same stuff

3- New Profession- pod racer profession! i would expecialy like to see pod racers that i think would be cool like if u intergrated a new professionlike a racer and when u get better ur certified to race more teched out pods and u could buy engine upgrades or boosters and upgrade handling over time and not just skill u up but even skill up ur pod if u win "races" there could be: novice racer that brances out to trickstyle, pod mechanics, pod knowledge, and pod aspects or somthing along those lines and then there is master racer and such ... i think adding a racer profession would be awsome

4- Take out buffs! as the oh so great man a few post above me said and he pointed out some great things about taking out buffs i mean there are essetial now when u do pvp and i think if u took that out and added diff types of armor and guns that played a "rock paper sissors" type thing it would make pvp alot more interesting like i stated above in the armor feedback

thanks

An unpopular, but a more accurate gaming experience:

I am sure the rest of the Jedi population will hate me for suggesting this, but in the interest of being more closely aligned with Star Wars lore, I'd love to see Vader played by a human. To see Vader useall of his skills to hunt down and exterminate the Jedi population as we are told he did.... would be awesome. I am probably the only Jedi who would say that they would be willing to give up their FSCS if it were killed by Vader in game, but the possibility of this is too exciting.Seeing Vader in this game as a tourist attraction is truly disappointing... lets get him hunting Jedi as he deserves to be.

Also, if you do hire for this position, I'd be the first to apply.

I know I will take alot of flak for this but I wanted a chance to get my meaningless opinion out there:

It'd be nice if buffs were completely removed from the game. Now, before many of my fellow SWGers one star me into the raw pit of obvlivion please hear me out...with an open mind...

1- No matter what amount buffs are set to, if they are left in the game they will ALWAYS be a requirement to PvP/PvE. No matter if it was only a 20% incrase in HAM, players will take whatever advantage they get and maximize it.

2- I think the main reason why buffs are so needed in this game is because this is the only MMO I've played where a players HAM doesn't permantly increase naturally with higher levels (Skills) A novice scout, just off the boat has the same HAM as a master of any given profession. (Stat migration aside)

3- Having buffs in the game really take a big chunk of fun out of PvP. I now have to buff myself (Yes, Im a master doctor) and my friends jsut to go overt and survive.

I'd rather see the developers give increases in HAM as a user develops better skill than doctor buffs. But that's just my opinion.

Star War Galaxies
Suggestions
Holonet

I. The Problem

There currently is no Holonet, at least not on a player interactive level. Oh we can attribute certain abilities in SWG to the Holonet but it’s not really all that interactive and it is definitely limited in functionality. I know some people say the Empire held tight control over the Holonet which is why it’s unavailable. This is true, The Empire did control the Holonet, but they didn’t prevent its use by the general population. They mostly monitored it for rebel transmissions and only shut it down in areas with high concentrations of rebel activity. The Rebels in turn employed all kinds of Slicers to code, send and receive transmissions and to keep the Holonet accessible for their needs. A side effect of not having an actual Holonet is everything is scattered across the city.

II. The Suggestion

There should be a Holonet, even if it’s just combining the current game features into a single location for now. The Holonet should be as ubiquitous as real world Cell-Phone Networks. Some remote locations won’t have access or reliable access whereas populated areas will have complete coverage. All functionality that was provided in the various terminals should be moved to the datapad and the terminals removed from the game. I propose dividing the datapad into various categories each a function of the Holonet. Some functions would be available everywhere there was access others may only be available in close proximity to a major city. The core planets had complete coverage across the entire planet while mid rim and outer rim planets usually only had coverage in or near the main city(s).

I also suggest access fees for using various features on the Holonet. The fees could be structured in a similar manner as city taxes currently are where citizens make monthly payments or it could be a pay per use system. You could even charge different fees for different services and allow city mayors to vary the fees or even offer free hotspot service much like Starbucks and McDonalds do in the real world. This would also allow cities to collect taxes on Holonet use within their sphere of influence.

I know the original purpose of the terminals was meant to be a gathering place for people in the game to socialize. I think that this has turned out to not be the case. The only place I see a large number of people hanging around because of the terminals is the Dantooine Mining Outpost and this is largely due to people trying to get into a "Solo-Group" to get more spawns from the missions they take and to also get higher paying missions. Since these terminals are not fulfilling their original purpose, lets remove them and create a system more in-line with the level of technology available in the Star Wars Universe.

III. The Categories

I propose two main categories:

A. Local – This contains all the data that currently resides on the datapad from your waypoints to your schematics. There should be separate sub-categories for each type of data.

1. Control Devices – Things such as Droids, Pets, Troops and Vehicles are handled in this category.

2. Draft Schematics – All your learned crafting schematics are stored here.

3. Manufacturing Schematics – All your created manufacturing schematics are stored here.

4. Points Of Interest – All programmed POI waypoints are stored here. A nice option would be to have visited POI’s change color to reflect the fact that they have been visited. Another nice option would be to allow mayors to submit for SWG approval 1 POI for a feature in their city. The POI is tied to the current mayor so if that mayor leaves the POI will disappear. The mayor also has the option to remove a city POI and submit a new one. Limiting this to level 5 cities will probably be a good idea to prevent massive amounts of mayor submitted POI’s. A bonus to this idea would be to grant the city that has had the most people visit their POI certain benefits like reduced maintenance costs or something similar.

5. Waypoints – Every user created waypoint that you have input to your datapad is stored here. A nice option would be to allow group leaders to create group visible waypoints that are kept in each group member’s datapad as long as the waypoint exists and that person is in the group. These waypoints should be a different color than normal waypoints.

6. Equipment Status – Every structure you have currently placed is displayed here along with information about its status. The display shows Current Harvesting Information such as what resource is being harvested, how full the hopper is and what percentage is being harvested. It also shows the current condition of the harvester’s power and maintenance. A nice bonus to this would be to allow you to start and stop the harvester remotely as wall as pay maintenance and change current resources. (Of course you would be limited by whatever resources were present at the location and by the concentrations available there.) Another nice bonus would to allow players to setup certain automation protocols such as if a resource disappear to automatically switch to the next highest concentration or the net resource you have listed etc…

7. Character Information – All the character sheet info should be here. The faction should be organized better and separate out those badges into sub-categories.
a. Event Badges
b. Exploration Badges
c. Profession Badges
d. Achievement Badges.

B. Holonet – This is where one accesses the various features of the Holonet. I understand that the Holonet is supposed to be capable of 3-D holographic projection but seeing as not even our inventories are 3-D, I don’t expect the Holonet to be 3-D.

1. Missions – Each player is able to select and accept missions via their datapad. The datapad essentially a portable mission terminal.... missions spawn in a radius around the player just as they would if the player were at an actual terminal. A nice bonus would be a filter to allow players to select what mission objective they wish to complete …. If I am looking for Bol’s to kill, I should be able to filter out all non Bol missions and only display the missions I am looking for, if I only want high paying missions I should be able to filter by payout and if I only want missions in a particular direction I should be able to filter by those criteria as well. I think Star Wars technology should at least be on par with Google.

2. Banking – Each player should be able to remove credits remotely from his/her account onto credsticks/cards. This works like cash just about everywhere, even on backwater worlds like Tatooine. The current standard if I remember correctly is the Imperial Credit which replaced the Republic Credit. Star Wars technology should at least be on par with my debit card.

3. The Bazaar – Essentially the same interface as we currently have but please for the love of the force add search filters!!!!

4. Travel – Essentially the same interface as we currently have but since you are not bound to a terminal all possible departure/arrival points should be available. Making the hops is fine but I should be able to input a departure point and a arrival point an have the system take care of everything in between for me so I can just go go go… Come-on…. If I can setup a complete roundtrip flight with southwest airlines via the internet I should be able to do the same in star wars. I would never fly in real life if I had to buy separate tickets at each leg of my journey. I’m not asking for magic beans here just a technology level equivalent to or better than real life. Budget airline companies shouldn’t have anything over galactic space travel.

5. News – how about news from around the galaxy. I’d love to see stories created based on events that happened, like an imperial base being destroyed or sports scores, Market trends, what people are buying and what they are paying. A little information can really help stabilize the market. How about adding a little depth and background to the game …. The game currently feels barren because the only thing we know happens is what we do or see ourselves.

6. Email – Why is email separate from the datapad anyway …. What exactly am I reading this email on? Make it a category under the Holonet portion of the datapad and have it show up in the datapad. Add a window for adding attachments to emails similar to what we have now in real life. Or allow multiple windows open on the datapad.

7. Holosites – I can’t believe we don’t have an equivalent to the internet in SWG yet. City Mayors, Player Association Leaders, Merchants and Entertainers should be able to create Holosites. Want to prevent obscene Holosites? Create an archive of graphics and only allow those to be used on the sites. Use the same filters you use on chat to blur out obscene words. Allow players to report sites that are offensive just as we report players who are offensive. Allow links to only work with other in-game sites. With no way to bring in outside material or link to outside material control should be as simple as it is for current chat.

IV. Slicing

Adding the Holonet to the game can only add to the experience. I’d love to see actual slicing abilities accorded with the introduction of the Holonet such as rebels being able to slice into the Holonet to post things that only other rebels can see, or Rebel Slicers trying to hack encoded imperial posts and Imperial Slicers doing live counter-slices to prevent that information from being cracked. To actually be able to participate in an online slicing battle would be interesting indeed. I’d also love to see Slicers be able to use the Holonet to hack into defense systems of bases and other military structures via their datapad allowing for defenses to be cracked etc... (Of course this relies on a previous idea I had for changing the way bases work)

V. Conclusion

I am a Star Wars Freak but the current game doesn’t feel all that much like star wars. It feels just like any other MMO but with guns. There are a lot of changes I’d like to see made to this game. Some simply improve game play like my architect revamp ideas and faction changes. Others are intended to make this game more like the Star Wars Universe that I know and love like the above idea.

VI. What next?

In my next major game idea I will delve into Cybernetics, Attachments, buffs etc…. I hope to do one major idea a month an I will also try to constantly update old ideas as I think of new things. I will post my previous major ideas after I clean them up a bit.

hey whens the new wookie armor coming out? the armor given to wookie players now isnt really giving much help, with the huge encumbranceand without that much protection...still in no way would a wookie player ever have a chance against another player wearing composite and i personally find it alot easier to fight with an Mk.3 shield generator than using actual armor...

I'll keep this short,

1st -Like many have said, please add some content for Solo players, and "casual" players. The most recent additions have been for groups of elite profs. I know the Hermit quests are comming back, but that will only be a few days of more solo fun.

2nd -Make more of the Instances. Like the Droid invasions, Tusken Raids, Rebels attacking Kor Vel, etc. This could be done on almost all planets in some way or form. But since the big publish "Droid Invasion" has there been any in the past few weeks? There should be more invasion type things going on in cities. I think this could help bring more people into cities in the first place. Since if you're not a Crafter/Entertainer, you typicly head to teh city to get what you need and get out.

3rd - Give Factioned Armorsmiths Faction Armor schematics. And please make faction armor worth having..right now it's meerly for show more than anything else.

4th - Add more planet Reset people. It would be nice if you could reset more planets other than Dantooine and Tatooine. I for 1 would like to be able to go through the Imperial Theme park again.

5th - This kinda touches on #2 but make the things like Boba Fett showing up to collect a bounty more often. Not saying it needs to be Boba, but maybe IG-88 or Bosk or another infamous Bounty Hunter. Heck I'd like to see random fights break out between NPC's that we as players can actually get involved in.

Thanks,

I'd like to seee mounted vehicle combat.

It'd be cool if I suddenly found my self being circled by scout troopers on bikes or going up against a dewback rider.

Also, I'd like to be able to fire small arms, mainly pistols while riding. OF course there would be no specials while mounted, since you're not steady enough, and rate of fire should be reduced, as well as the obvious penalties for firing while moving.

I saw some requests for multi passanger vehicles as well, that would be real nice.

An since we're just brain storming here, why not turn the ATST into a drivable vehicle instead of a pet, wit increased functionality with a two man crew.

Also, there should be damage inflicted if your vehicle is destroyed while you're on it.

One more thing, since there is no way that I'm aware of to repare a disabled vehicle, rather than just have it sit in inventory until we select "destroy vehicle", how about if these babies just go up in a spectacular explosion and remove themselves when they are destroyed?

I used to love this game. Even when I was bored, at least I was bored in the Star Wars Universe. It's not the game I bought anymore. I'm out.

Hi,

Look, I don't have a huge amount of time to read through all the pages attached to this thing so please don't get ticked if this is a repeat...I just think it's a neat idea. Since the YT-1300 has been modeled inside and out for the space expansion, I think that it would be a great link between the core and space settings if theFalcon was actually representedin Nien Numb's mission on Lok. I know that there wouldmore than likely be alot of pissed people overseeing the Falcon all over the place if multiple people did the mission, but it would makethings a bit more interesting. Anyway, just food for thought.
