One thing that would interesting to see is internet terminals in major cities or maybe a module or device in the datapadthat would allow you to open an in game web browser.

This would also make a useful module for a droid (Look, my droid has wireless internet access)

I read somewhere that alt-tabbing out of the game was not recomended. This would be perfect if you just wanted to pull up a website for some quick info (like a guild website, or checking out these forums). It would help add submersion to the game.

It seems like it would be fairly simple to implement.

Its hard to believe thatin such a technologicly advanced universe such as this, there is no way for a character to "get online".

Even possible that the email system could be moved to this device.

You can build off of this forever... For instance... Your character caould be shown holding a "pocket pc" type device while you are navagating menus.

If the datapad Is SUPPOSED to be a device like this, you could just build the internet functionality into it.

Just my seemingly ingenious idea.

I have tried to address the loot system many times in the old Discussion forum, but it was drowned. I'm afraid the In Concept, In Development, etc forums have the same flaw. For instance: I am post number 170-something on page 5 of a post. But let me get to the topic and pray a Dev pays attention to it.

I for one think that more loot is needed. Right now it is in an alright area, but it could use some more variety. Let me explain.

The loot is pretty rare as of now. When lootIS dropped, you can expect it to be a piece of crap that wont sell for 100 credits in the bazaar. And you dont get the kind of loot you expect from certain mobs (I.E. an Imperial/Rebel Mediccould drop like 5 stims that are anywhere from"This Blows"to "W00T").

I know you can expect crap loot, but that just makes PvE SO boring. Now I know PvP (GCW) is intended with this game, but that doesn't mean PvE can be ignored or put on the back burner. Loot should be something to brag about and something everyone can take part in. A good example of a spectacular loot system is the Diablo series.

All loot dropped is random. It is either nothing, gold, potions, a weapon, or a piece of armor. The best thing about this system is that the stats are completely random. This creates a major possibilty in weapons and armor, because there is no "best armor in the game" or "best weapon in the game".

OOPS! Anywho... to continue with my thought

People who play or have played Everquest can understand this. I have seen pictures of groups of people all wearing the same armor with the same weapon (there were 8 or 9 of them, all bards). In EQ, the players have to wait for a new patch with new items before they can go and ditch their old armor/weapon.

Sadly, Star Wars Galaxies, is going down this all to familiar path. By a show of hands, who has a set of composite armor (doesn't matter the color, krayted, etc)??? My point exactly. I bet at least 100 of the people who's hands are raise have the exact same stats on thier armor too (except condition of course).

I realize that crafters cannot be forgotten, and perhaps this whole randomizing system is embedded in the tissue or component drops. However, this isn't as easily recognizable by players, and a good drop can still return a horrible result, especially if the crafter used goofed. Again, refering to Diablo, when a weapon was dropped, the player immediately knew if it was better or worse that the one they had. I looted a sword core recently, but I have no idea if it is any good.

I certainly don't want to be on SWG's leash, waiting and begging for new weapons and armor. I think that crafters need more freedom and a simpler way to craft items. This current crafting system is too complicated. To make a decent item, the best materials are required to make the best components to make the best weapons, all of this needs to be done by the best (most talented) crafter and be experimented with the best way. If the weapon could be better (who doesn't slice their weapons), the best smuggler is needed to slice it. All of this is to make one of 5 or 6 weapons available, but since you are Master (Profession Here), you are going to get your specialy certified weapon, the best possible one available.

This just sucks the fun out loot. Again, I have no idea if the component I just looted will become a good weapon or not.

The crafting processneeds to be simplified, and the item database needs to be handed over to the crafters. Let the players make their own content!

Why cant a weapon be thrown together like the Falcon was? It was mentioned that putting a different set of engines on your starfighter will change it's look. Why not putting a different type or barrel change the way your blaster looks?

Think about it this way. There is NO possibility for any one player to have an advantage over another player. Weapons are crafted, so every player will have the best crafted weapon. Armor is crafted, so every player will have the best crafted armor. Professions are set in place, so every Master something will have the same abilities as every other Master something.

In PvP, two players of the same race, same profession, with the same armor, same weapon, same ham migration, same buffs meet and duke it out with the same strategy. What determines the winner? The winner is based on the random damage being done (even with specials). I'm sure in a galaxy as big as this it will never happen....

thats it. I've lost my train of thought. I now even have questions as to my reasoning. I'm tired.

you know what? forget it.

I agree with llvllerlin on that there needs to be more randomness with the loot, being able to change up how everything looks. I am getting a little bored when I go into a cantina and see 3+ female dancers all wearing the revailing body raps, if you have seen one Twi'lik female in one then you have seen them all.

I would also like to see some changes with the Medic professions. I think that a Medic or Doctor should be able to heal anyone, even if they are reb or imp. If a covet imp or reb goes into a medical fasility, there is no way to know that he is a reb when you heal him. Now if it was an overt then I could understand. You could even secertly give that medic faction points and nottell him. For a medic that heals the "enemy" things could be even worse. For an imp a group of ST come in and question the doctor, if they don't belive him he could lose faction points or ranks and gain reb faction points.

Food for thought on why you need to get your act in gear with the combat rebalance:

DraxellX wrote:

Yeah..its funny. I remember when CH's where EVERYWHERE & most everyone dabbled a little. Then BOOM ! Never see any now.

We're still out there. At the moment, we're the most hosed class behind Carbineers for combat performance. Publish 5 gave CH's their "balance" to bring them in line with the new combat fix. Unfortunately, we were the only profession rebalanced for the new combat system, so we're the weakest overall.

This has had some other effects on the game. Because we can tame just about everything out there, ALL the animal mobs have had to be 'rebalanced' for the new combat system. Ergo, now "solo groups" where 20 players group up and get the highest level missions out there, then go their own way to grind have become common. Combat professions are still "unbalanced" out there pwning the shizznit out of "balanced" animals and dumping vast amounts of credits in the economy and allowing hologrinders to Master professions in days, instead of weeks.

The other thing is that vehicles just put the nail in the coffin for mounts, by and large. So that 6 weeks of glory is long gone.

I would like to see survey-droids giving back feedback about the stats of the resources on a specific planet. Right now I'd rather travel to a planet myself because I need to know stats anyways, instead of paying for a survey-droid and sacrificing a surveytool. When stats would be visible in the report as well I really would be prepared to do those sacrifices.

come to think of it how about having more emotions/actions what if you wanna relax on a beach?? or just lay down, you gotta go prone and it looks like your humping the floor, and how about making the option for beds to function?, i mean if you have wounds you can lay in a bed and 'sleep' and your wounds and fatigue goes down, but so that it doesn't make medics/entertainers usless make it really slow, at least then beds have a function

hello,

i was playing last night and talking to some of my friends in ther game world. We where talking about that they would like to start with a new spieces but they would not want to lose what they have worked so hard for

. I got this idea, somewhat like what you all did with the creatures. Where you could go to a terminal and be able to change your spieces without starting a new character and just carry over your name. I know that it could be a little hard since everyones stats and what ever plus the race gives, would change depending on the spieces but I think it would be very cool and allow people to try some one new, for a change in pace. I know personally I am a wookie and would love to change to human or something else. But i am not willing to start over &everything I have or start on a new server.

Just a thought I would pass on.

Hi All,

Ok I was look into the new stuff in publish 8 and yes I was happy with most until I came across the advertising bots (spam bots) I am not really happy about this as going near a starport is currently lag hell and I hoped this was going to be sorted out and not prompted by the game makers. I was thinking of two possible solutions to the current spaming issue they are:

1) have a dedicated marketing place/commercial building were people can go and AFK spam this will enable people who are looking for something to go to the dedicated spam area and see if what they want is there.

If the above is to work there will need to a ban on AFK chat outside starports and maybe a even a chat filter for constantly repeted words.

2) You should be able to pay for advertisement boards!!! you could do it in a few ways have billboards in starport's, cantina's and Bazaar canters advertisement will be have rent to pay or they will stop been shown the boards will be constantly changing i.e video boards so that every one's advertisements comes up. The second way to do this would be to have an advertising terminal (yellow pages) so you can search for a armor shop / on Naboo and you would get your listing's of all that match your search along with a short description of the shop by the add placer and a way point to download.

I think that maybe number two would be the best option and both suggestions in it could work well i.e advertising boards for the really big business and ad terminals as a cheaper alternative.Doing thiswould help with both lag and spicing up the crafting/merchant trades.

Please let me know if you like this idea.

Best regard,

1. Concerning the BH being able to kill their own faction: Why not make BH a neutral profession. After all, a gun for hire is only on the side of whomever is paying the most at that given time. If the opposing makes an offer that is better, the BH may decide to switch sides. On that note, why not make it possible to give the target the optionto bribe the BHin exhange for their life spared. The BH could then decide to take itwith his/her self getting bountied or just kill the target.]

Why not have him be allowed to choose sides, but he's a BH. If Vader came to an imp factioned BH and said, I'll pay you X amount of credits to kill a person in the Empire, he'd probably take the money and do it. Same goes for a rebel BH.

I like what I heard earlier about A BH getting a missin for A PC who kills 15 troopers in Kadaara, why not also make it for if a PC kills to many rebel or imp troopers? Rebels may want revenge too.

I would like to see an instanced dungeon for the common man.. this one can be a quick something to do for an hour, or for new people something they can just exlpore and hunt. I have found for new people, that going to an easy dungeon (like the one just outside of Kor Vella) is almost a 100% waste of time, you can look at it but it's almost always empty because one reason or another.

For this idea it'd simply be a regular cave, no new graphics, just instanced. I don't know what extra hardware has to be setup for an instanced dungeon, but for the people who only have about an hour or two to play after work I think it'd be awesome to have one or two instanced dungeons around some of the bigger starports. You can even take a shuttle to it if that'd be the right way to do it.

The third reason I think this would be good is because it's the way of the future, I like star wars galaxies a lot and want to see that it's competitive with some of the ideas that will be used gratuitously on the newer mmorpgs.

Thanks for your time.

I'd like to see the ability to turn objects in a clockwise or counterclockeise method. This way, items can be turned upsdie down and sideways. I'd also like to see rooftops of player buildings utilized. As of now, they serve no purpose other than visuals. I can understand why we aren't allowed to attack from them but Why not have the abilty to drop items on them? Especially in guild halls where there is a large rectangular open space that is getting wasted? At least enclose it so we can utilize the space or make it where things can be dropped in it.
