Thunderheart,

Let's say I unlock between 9 and 10. I repeat, 9 has come...10 has not. Do I get a second slot for my FS? I don't care about the system message. Just that.

Question:

If/When a Jedi reaches Master status, will it be possible for their name to be changed to include a "master name"? For example, a light Jedi finally gets on the Council and has reached Jedi Master, his name then changes to Master <Character's Last Name> from <Fist Name> <Last Name>. Also, if a dark Jedi finally gets on their version of a Council and reaches Master status they change their name to Lord <Last Name> from <First Name> <Last Name>.

Just an idea to add a bit of immersion.

Is there any chance of our concerns actually being dealt with? Is any of this actually being passed to the devs?

What i dont want

1. Main character as Jedi

2. No unlocking Fscs between Pub9 and Pub10

Your Paying Playerbase has informed you in high percentage of what they dont want.

It isnt fair that we dont get the same privledge as the people that unlocked before us, and if you take that away from me I will take my $30 subscription fees some where else.

I would also like to know why you cant grandfather accounts who have reached a certain point on the hologrind. This would be a fair thing to do. Let the people who have made it to their silent keep goin on the system they are on. Then anyone who hasnt even started the hologrind falls under the new system. I dont understand why this cant be done, it has been used in other Mmorpgs where a system has to change but they dont want to screw everyone.

TH,

I'm sure you see the way the wind is blowing with this post - but I want to speak for the players on the other side of the debate. I was overjoyed to learn that I could progress my main character (to which I have grown attached) to become a Jedi. I looked at the possibility of creating a new character with a lot of concern from a role-playing direction.

The arguements expressed above are very much valid - but if this system is reconsidered please don't go from one extreme to the other. There are players out there that would rather have their main become FS and start a new "normal" character.

That said - there is only one equitable way to handle this. The system simply must allow for either a one-time character recreation upon unlock, or allow free choice as to which slot gains the ability to become Jedi.

To me it seems an equitable trade off. If someone wants their new character to be the FS one, the main is reset tozero on the FS quests and the new character is then allowed to pick their FS skills and progress as Jedi.

This new FS character would actually be at a disadvantage relative to people that choose for their main to become Jedi. The new character would not have the existing skills to fall back on during their training to Knight - a more than fair cost for the "priviledge" of creating a totally new character (race, stats and all).

Please also bear in mind that this exact topic will come up again when JtL hits and two new races are released. Very few people will want to recreate their characters to try out the new races. It would be good idea to anticipate this and allow for a one-time-only race switch for JtL subscribers.

SWG is in for a very rocky road over the next3 publishes. The combat balance, GCW revamp and outcome of the jedi system will be a make or break point for the game. With the promise of JtL on the horizon this is as good a time as any I suppose, but if these topics are handled poorly - or worse, without the full and acknowledged input of the veteran SWG community - it has the potential to destroy the game. It happened with Anarchy Online - over the span of a weekend one patch caused half the population to quit - simply being Star Wars and SOE does not make repitition of this impossible.

We all want this game to succeed as much as you do - please let us help you get it right from the perspective of the player.

Thank you

Okay, there is a lot of uncertainity about what's happening with current Jedi. From the discussion so far people seem to think either:

A) The second slot becomes FS, with the apropriate points to spend on the new Jedi tree.

B) The primary slot becomes FS, with the apropriate points to spend on the new Jedi tree.

C) The second slot becomes FS, with the apropriate points to spend on the new Jedi tree. The primary also becomes FS.

D) The primary slot becomes FS, with the apropriate points to spend on the new Jedi tree. The secondary slot must run through the quests to become FS (or vice versa).

Which is it?

Personally, I think it would be horribly unfair to the new players if existing Jedi ended up with <b>two</b> FS slots to play with. If you finish the quests you should have the option to have your main become FS, or open the secondary FS slot. The secondary should not have to run through the quests again.

I too do NOT want to play my main as my jedi. Had I known this was going to be the case, I would've designed my character differently. However, in beta, and after launch, the "path" was, unlock your FSS, use the second character slot as your jedi.

From an RP standpoint using your main as your jedi does fit, however, we were lead to believe something else, and even told the devs in beta that the main character should develop force sensitivity, but they refused to hear any of it. Now after all that, they've decided that "oh, the beta testers were right, we should make the main player have force sensitivity..." after they had previously said "this will never be the case, your main character will never be force sensitive" and the majority of us designed our character and playing style around that premise.

Now for the unlucky players who won't unlock, they're going to be utterly screwed come revamp. (I feel bad for the trando and wookiee jedi...no boots for jooo)...I'm really close. 8 professions left, the only thing between me is a week a few million creds, but in some unlikely event I don't unlock, and I've put all this time and effort into grinding my character this past year, I'm sorry, but I have no desire to grind a second character thru force sensitivity. I'll just quit and go play WoW. I've suffered thru the bugs, I've suffered thru being banned from the forums for pointing out SOE's shortcomings, (not once, but twice, first time for a month for proving a mod wrong, second time for for 6 months for pointing out a certain CSR's behavior was unprofessional)...I'm sorry, but I've suffered thru enough of this. If I'm forced to drop my skills to play a jedi on my main character, one that I never intended on being a jedi, I'll simply take my $15 a month and give it to a corporation who's more entitled to it. (You know, a company that actually listens to the community, instead of making knee-jerk nerfs and revamps for the sake of a vocal minority.) My $15 a month entitles me to the same ear that every other customer has, and frankly I'm tired of being ignored.

How many slots are available in each council?

There are 11 council ranks for the Light side and for the Dark side. Each rank will have a limited number of players that may earn these titles. In addition, there will be an unlimited amount of non-ranked or zero-level Force Ranked Jedi. This enables those players for PvP and the right to work their way up the Force Ranking ladder.

So a casual player wont be able to get into the council? I feel like because I have a job and a life that I wont be able to reach my fullest potenial. Its hard enough to master classes to begin with.

you 'casual players' want it all.

wah i cant grind to unlock, plz change the system. so they do it. now you want to be part of a council that makes decisions on a daily basis, even though you arent going to be there? wow.

In the end if you go thru with this change your gonna see we as players were right in this. As we have been right about alot of drastic knee jerk changes in this game.

Most of which you as developers had to go backwards, and change the system.

You think maybe you would have learned by now that we are not a bunch of 10 year old dopes who don't know what the hell we are talking about.

Some of us are even in the industry. I am telling ya we know what the heck we are talking about.

I have to say, in all honesty, that I have to agree here.

ThunderHeart, perhaps it is time that development issues were brought to the community BEFORE they were taken to testing.

I am sorry to have to say this, but after playing this game for almost a year since release day, I have begun to wonder if any of the developers are actual GAMERS, or if they are all just in this for the hell of doing something that has never been done before? Honestly?

This game is chock-full of absurdities, and the minor content issues that amount to a mountain of player abuse are NOT being addressed here. Maybe it is time that the producers of this game stopped trying to beat out the retail curve and made the game bloody ENJOYABLE please!

I love this game, as I have said numerous times, and I want nothing more than to see it continue on indefinately. But, please, let us be honest here: how long do you think the community is going to hold on by their fingernails while this cloak-and-dagger development bull[self-edit] goes on?

Please, at least address these issues. As a player and a long-standing member of this community, I do not frankly care whether there are more stars in the sky or silhouettes of Star Destroyers over the planet when MY ARMOSMITH CAN CRAFT BECAUSE THERE ARE NO RESOUCES. Or, perhaps, MY COMBAT CHARACTER CANNOT GET WEAPONS BECAUSE THEY COST A MILLION CREDITS AND THE LOOTS ARE A PILE OF HORSE [self-edit]!

[knock, knock, knock] Anyone home? Is anyone listening? Please?

Please stop leaving the PAYING COMMUNITY in the dark.

Thank you.

I think the Devs have lost their mind on this one. What you all have succeeded in doing is TOTALLY remove non-jedi from PvP. Nice job.

Everybody still wants everything for nothing. Some people who want to be Jedi think that they should just be able to make a character to grind and then unlock the force so they can make a new Jedi character and keep both. The best part is, they whine about the new system forcing them to make some sort of a choice, taking on Jedi with the character they unlocked the FS with or trying to do it again with their second slot. Well, as much as I would love to see players only allow one slot not matter what: too bad. There has to be some balance and sacrifce to using Jedi within the game; the new system is a good step for sure. Seems like alot of players are mad about the in-game economy and whatever else going up the creek with the new system, well chances are that won't happen. Sure there are tons of people who want to be Jedi, but there are fewer who have the time, patience or desire to actually try to complete the upcoming quests. Let's not forget the people that want to have it easy and simply grind professions like a monkey, I'm willing to bet alot of them won't bother with it because its no longer simple. And then there are the large number of players who just enjoy the game the way they are, not caring a whole lot about becoming a Jedi. Hell, theres quite a few players that play SWG simply because its a damn good MMPORG, not that its Starwars, some don't even know anything or alot about the Star Wars Universe.

I say wait and see what happens, I can't wait for the new system because its going to change the game for the better, its going to increase the challenge and fun-factor quitea bit. Thatis, if you want to try your luck with the Jedi quests. If this is any indication as to how they're going to revamp all the professions, this game is only going to get better.

I'v been playing since the launch of the game and kept up with it before that. I am a strong believer that everyone in the game should be civil to one another and treat one another with respect. Not everyone in the game is a hardcore gamer, a matter of fact most are just Star Wars fans. When I bought this game I bought it to become a jedi that is just me. I am however a casual player, I cannot afford to play countless hours a day grinding professions to become a jedi. I have a full time job while going to school so most of my day is spent out of the house running errands, working or taking care of my studies. That should not hinder me in anyway that the hardcore player should have an advantage over me in a ranking system or simply the jedi system in itself. My money is as green as everyone elses who play the game therefore I should be entitled to all the little in game extras as someone who plays all day long.

This type of business ethic continues at SOE because of their CEO, John Smedley. Little does the public know, that Star Wars Galaxies was scrapped in 2002 and redeveloped in 14 months from the ground up. In a meeting, they asked how they could get away with releasing such an unfinished product. John Smedley stated that people will buy it because it has a Star Wars name on it - and then laughed as they said they would complete the retail product (which consumers have already paid $49.99 for) with approximately 2 years of subscription revenue
