Thread: Group Looting Changes

How does the master looting option work if the designated master looter is out of range? Say I group with an alt, designate him master looter, does all loot land on his inventory magically? Or does it default to the next person? Or is it lost entirely?

Not that I would mind it just magically popping over to a mule, that may be a nice feature, especially with the new group invite features.

Also, do the same lootrules apply to space?

Sounds like the same code that eq2 is using. Personally I like the loot system there.

Glad to see some positive changes in the looting system. At least now if a group wants to specify who gets the loot, the system will let that happen.

There is still room for loot stealing, though, if someone is not in the group. Will this be addressed? Or does everyone in the group just have to be faster than others not in the group? Perhaps getting rid of recursive macros will help solve this problem a bit.

If it is your groups kill then no one other then the designated people in the group can loot.

How is this determined?

Is the mob/NPC "locked" by the group or solo'er that attacked it first (also like EQ2)?

Is loot rights based upon cumalative damage of the group, or the highest damage dealing person in the group?

What I am getting at is currently, a group of 20 people can lose loot rights to one player. Even though total damage by the group of 20 is greater than the one player, if that one player does more damage than the highest damage dealing person in that group of 20, the one player gets loot rights?

how about group leader designating a looter. Sometimes (expecially in a DWB run) the leader is abit busy and another group member is less distracted (or has the luck line) and they are desiginated looter.

And no you don't want to just pass leadership to him, cuase you want the squad leader in charge (gasp yes their still used)

FYI...that has not worked in the game for some time now.

I like this one.

I only have 2 things to throw my 2 credits at.

It has been m onths since I've hunted in a group that was not composed of my guild and even longer since I've hunted in very highly populated areas. (the area around MO on Dant for one).

1. Unless I've been missing something ithas always appeared to me that whowever delieverdd the killiong blow got to loot the carcuss.

If a member of the group killed trhe beast tehn the group got loot rights. but if aperson jsut happened along aftet the group has been whacking at the thing for an hour so and administers the deciding blow that person gets the lootingrights and the grouip gets nothing.

Lock the looting rights on the first person; if the person is in a group, then the groupmembers are the only players to get looting rights.

2. This is for mos tof the mresponses on how the loot is divided.

If you can't trust the other members of the group your hunting with then why are you hunting with them?

I learned a long time ago to limit my group hunting wiht membetrs of my guild or other players that have proven over time toto be honorable enough toshare the wealth. When I join a group to hunt itis to obtain specific items for specific members of my guild.

We went Krayt hunting several times in the oast week to obtain pearls for our Jedi. I have no need for a pearal but my I will help my friends get the ones they need. And do't say I could sell it . If I want cresdits I'll put on my noob clothes and go begging in front of Cnet star port.

A teenie, tiny suggestion here:

If the group leader assigns a Master Looter (the point being for one person to hold "da phat lewt" until the hunting is done, and then everyone can take the time to sort through it and divy it out), would it be possible to include a system for some kind of command so that a dialogue box is opened up that shows each item that has been looted since the group's formation (kind of like the dialogue box used when selling loot to a Chassis Dealer), and then the group leader can can manually assign each item to the group at the end of the hunting period.

For example, the group goes to hunt Rancors. Player A is in need of some rancor bile. Player B is in need of rancor teeth. Player C is in need of rancor armor segments. The group leader assigns Player A to be the Master Looter to save time while they're all hunting (one person loots each corpse, and they all keep fighting without having to stop and discuss loot).

Two hours later, the hunt is over, and the group members prepare to go their separate ways. The group leader types the command /assignloot (perhaps make this command available to everyone in the group, so that all can see what has been looted, but only the group leader can take any item out of the Master Looter's inventory and give it to another player) and a dialogue box opens just like the one that we get when we're selling space loot to a chassis dealer. The group leader can select a looted item (it will be in the Master Looter's inventory, but the groupleader only has access to loot that was looted during the hunt, since that loot is still considered the group's property), hit Assign To Player, and then select a player from the group to give the item to.

That way, at the end of the hunt Player A may be easily given all the rancor bile they have collected, Player B gets all the teeth she needs, and Player C is going home with some nice new rancor hides.

Obviously, this kind of option would have to be agreed upon by everyone, especially the Master Looter. No one wants to just give the group leader to poke around in his inventory and start hauling loot out of it at his own discretion.

Any comments, suggestions, or revisions?

This is nice...but AO has been doing this for years.

The only thing I'd add that AO does is send a message to all teammates about every item that is looted. That way no one can hold out on you and pretend they didn't get anything.

How will the Force skill LUCK be affected by this? If 1 member in the group has LUCK, will the loot be better? is luck calculated before or after the "winner" is chosen?

Isn't that the Master Looter option?
