Two thumbs down. I decided to take a break from SWG becuase I wasn' the type of powergamer who would grind four holos and then master random professions just to unlock my Jedi slot. Now it turns out that permadeath is out, which means powergamers will get an even greater advantage.

So long SOE. You really borked up a game with great potential.

People need to get out of the gutter and realize this is a GAME. When you play it, it should be FUN. To get an idea of what I mean, play KOTOR or some console game and realize what I mean by "play", "fun", and gaming.

Hologrinding is NOT fun. Permadeath is NOT fun. Going out solo and killing 4 million non deathblowing creatures out in the middle of Yavin to become a jedi is NOT fun.

This new revamp looks *fun* again. Fun to aspire to be a jedi (quests, etc). Fun to actually *be* a jedi.

As for you whining bounty hunters: get over yourselves. With these new changes you will get SO many more bounties popping up on the mission terminals because finally jedi will be free from fear of doing anything with their saber in public. And yes, eventually your precious droids will be fixed.

It's not just BHs upset about this. Many many non-Jedi players are very upset about this. This is very bad.

Developers -

I don't understand you. Really. We as a community have just gotten over the Creature Handler revamp, because you made them too powerful at first, then you nerfed them (rightly so, BTW). Creatures were everywhere, and everyone had a good creature, and XP and the economy was in chaos. After the revamp, things calmed down, and got better, because you made people less powerful. I thought you guys finally got the hint. I was almost convinced the game was about to become better.

You also add holocrons to the system, screwing up the economy, character classes, creating too many Jedi, and turning cantina's into AFK land. The goal: more Jedi. Well, your system that you claim is a good system, is creating more and more Jedi. So, instead of Pet Wars, we will have Jedi Wars. In a time period where Jedi are not commonplace.

Now, you're telling us that you won't make the penalty as stiff as Permadeath. They may actually "lose one skill box." So - you went from losing all skill boxes, to losing possibly one. This sucks. This is not the challenge I was one day looking forward to. But neither was joining the Rebel faction the challenge I was hoping it would be.

Do you have any clue how three months from now how many Jedi there will be running around? They don't need to be secret anymore- after all, they might only lose one skill box. I'm a carbineer for my combat class. Do you know how often I die? Not nearly enough. Between my armor, careful choices, and a possible buff, I'm pretty tough. I rarely die, and I would guess that as a Jedi, I might die even less. Assuming thata Jedi is more powerful than a lowly Carbineer.

My numbers may be off, but there are currently more than 10 Jedi on my server. Ten. That is a Jedi Council. A complete Jedi Council. I thought they were extinct! Ten is too many for this point in time. It just seems that you guys are not using common sense. I remember way back when, in the old days, a year or two before launch, you guys were so adamant about not releasing too many Jedi. What happened? What went wrong?I think it reasonable to say that soon, the Jedisituation will be out of control. In three months, I can almost be certain, Ahazi will have about 100 Jedi. So, in six months, maybe 10% of the server is Jedi-able.

So, what am I saying? Keep permadeath. Please. Its such a great solution to having way too many Jedi.

I hope that these In-Concept threads are really read, and not just "We made a command decision, we're sticking to it." Please, some of us don't want a Jedi system that is from CareBear Land.

Fine, but it should go in WITH the Droid fix, it should have no free deaths, and EVERY time you die at Initiate or Master you should loose AT LEAST 1 skill box.

First let me say that these changes to "being" a jedi look very good. I'm not a Jedi yet, but I can see where it will make many jedi happy.

On the other hand, I don't know if I'm happy with the proposed phase 2 changes to becoming a jedi (FS slot open)... I'm currently and have been grinding professions for countless hours. I have completed many professions and am quite close to earning that FS slot... and now the system will change?

Kinda like running a multi mile marathon only to have the finish line moved and the rules changed... I want to understand, and I mean understand what is meant by consideration will be given to my work. This change may well be the reason I quit this game...

Yea, it will be a much better system I hope, but I'll be quite unhappy at the transistion time if I've done all this work for NOTHING other than a dozen badges...

I walk the path of the Jedi, the path of many professions (tm). It is not what I know that makes me who I am, it is what I have forgotten... and I've forgotten more than most.

For the people saying that skill loss isn't enough, just imagine losing an entire professions worth of experience to one skill box. That is what we Jedi have to grind through. The xp required just for the Novice Padawan box (not counting the 4444) to get there is 3.2 MILLION. Oh and incase no one reminded you Jedi XP is the equivalent of Combat XP. So that is about 32 million worth of regular weapons xp for you folks.

As the system stands right now if we died 3 times we lose all of our inventory. Right now on my Jedi I am currently carrying a 4th gen saber(3 x 500k for crystals), a speederbike (30k), an entire suit of composite (450k), a crate of muon (10k), a crate of fishak(80k). Now if i were to use an all pearl saber you could add about 15 million to that costs. Is it fair that we lose that much credits for dying forcing us to rely on our main character for a couple of weeks to restock?

The problem is those of us with our FSCS open want to play our characters. Not rely on our mains as a source of income. We also don't want to lose a months worth of work to a bug(armor holes come to mind) or something that has been overlooked like dizzy and knockdown defences which we have none of.

I really don't think the skill removal is going to be that bad guys. Even with the current system, there are going to be more and more Jedi on each server every month. So many of the current Jedi are tired of hiding and playing it safe, this change is for them. But there will still be those who get 1 death and want to play it safe and not log in with their jedi till the death count expires. This will lower the amount of Jedi on at one time. Also these new variables give then a better way to adjust Jedi in the long run, they can play with the penalties to keep masters very rare while giving initiates a reason to try more than slicing up kreetles.

As for the path to Jedi confusion, time to clear things up and do some damage control Devs.

So Q when you say that you are changing the way to becoming a Jedi what is your plan? Are you going to be revealing that information to us or will it remain a guessing game? Please let us know. Us non grinding types are going crazy.

Let me tell you something. I am only playing the game right now in an effort to become a Jedi. I have been here literally since Day 1. All I'm going to say is that after grinding 16 professions, I am ready to walk away from this game at a moments notice. I am most definitely on the fence of whether or not to continue playing this game or play Half-Life 2 until World of Warcraft comes out. If the time and effort that I spent grinding 16 professions in your lousy "old way" to being a Jedi does NOT put me 1 step away from being granted Jedi-dom, I'm gone. I'm not one of these people who will think twice or maybe re-subscribe either. People have been given Jedi slots after 5 profs. I'm 16 deep. Just talking about this makes me want to un-install the game, so I'll leave it at that.

How could anyone be upset? Sorry you wasted your life powergaming a STUPID holocron but Tuff! That system sucked and kudos to the Devs for swallowing their pride and making the change.

That system was going to single handly ruin this game and I am happy to /wave bye to it for good. I was cosidering quitting as i had four holos in my inventory and had refused to even use them after my last one. I hated giving up a charecter I had worked so hard for.

So if you are bent about this, tuff turkey. If you liked this game and where not going for "teh win", you would be happy that changes are coming.
