•Deaths will decay from the death counter after one week.
•Deaths after a buffer (3 to 5 depending on advancement) will have a skill revocation penalty.
•Skill revocation will be slight at first, but will increase in penalty as the player accumulates more and more non-decayed deaths.
•The skill revocation penalty will increase as a player advances up the skill tree.
•The skill to be revoked will be randomly chosen from the last skill earned in each of the 4 skill branches.
•No more than one skill will be revoked at a time, though players can get to a state where they lose a skill each time they die."

ok... you LOOSE a skill every time you die... fine... can you earn it back or do you loose the skill points??
Personally, I like the idea of XP debt.... kinda like what Earth and Beyond has....
How many jedis are there on a given server? 50? 100? Lets make it 150 just to be sure. The total population on a given server is probebly around (just a wild guess) 5000.
To semi quote the initial post, the devs have had long discussions and read a lot of treads regarding the jedi profession. What bothers me about this is the time put into this single profession as opposed to so many many other bugs they should have focused on insted. Fixing jedi is a good thing BUT not when it take presedence (sp) over many other more importent game breaking issues. They should insted have focused on vendor bugs, lag, more content for the casual average non-jedi gamer, loot, lag, action taken against people who exploit and harrass people ingame and where the harrased yell and scream at the csr's to make things right, the constant crashes and so on and so forth.
So the basic thought behind the above: Please pretty please spend your valurable developer time on what will benefit the most people. Do not spend so much time on a single high profile profession which consists of less than 5 pro cent of the entire server population. I am not saying they should not fix the bugs and the road leading to fscs but spend time fixing it accordingly to other needs.

I agree, the sentence can be read understood 2 ways:
1) The system for 'unlocking' is changing to be a quest based system.
OR
2) Jedi will now have special quests (content) that they can do.
Personally, I have a feel the answer is #2. Given the developers have stated 'Holos are here to stay', and the holo only reveals professions, it is likely that this means jedi will now have quests in the near future (probably 2-4 months from now).
Well I'm pleased to see this, but I'm afraid SOE I'm still pretty defensive about your intentions and ability to deliver/schedule well. Quest-based is an important improvement, but how are you going to fix all profile issues that exist now? I mean, no offense honestly, but did you finally fix Borvo and the Darklighter epic where all we had to do was drop on a minor items in publish6? I can't see how quests are going to be any easier for you technically unless you have really ramped up your backoffice team. Also, what happened to all the adaptive learning SWG is supposed to have? That's why factions exist -- so you can monitor if we really are rebel/imp/criminal in our leanings? I'm glad to see this public commitment, but guys you have a lot to fix with
1) non-unique items and accomplishments stored properly in our character profiles, and
2) in the faction monitoring quests are supposed to have. After all, all missions and quests were supposed to interconnect, right? ![]()
Sincerely, I wish you good luck. If you pull this off and fix the above (stable character profiles and proper inventory itemization), you will bring people back.
well i have an idea that might fix the non perma death thing...and would be kool 2 ^_^
well when I am waching/reading about star wars I always hear about the great jedi purge where the imperials just slaughtered the jedi and put up huge bounties and stuff on them...maybe every 2 months you can put every jedi on the bounty/imp mission terminals for 1 daythat way it would be like the time era where the imperials want the jedi dead.....just an idea

Although I am all for the new system in changes for the jedi system I havejust onething that seem to bug me on this.
Those that have mastered 12, 15, 18, 20+ or more professions... They have acertain chance (1/xx, if solely based on profession grinding) on getting a Jedi slot. What happens to those people? All the time spent doing holocron professions just to see the next guy get it within his next couple professions? It seems to bug myself that people I see pvp, participate in the actual GCW are limited to a jedi slot because some "unknown" got his jedi slot by pure luck. Although I may seem jealous (working on number 18), I believe I am entitled to some remorse on why not myself? or the other guy?or why that person?
All I get is a stinkin' profession badge... give me a break.
