Thread: Icons over heads
i think that when you are in a group, the leader should be able to put a mark on the con.
not just a squad leader. i have only been in one group that has had a squad leader.
i hate having to tell everyone in the group, "ok, target the blah blah blah con" or, "target me, and type /assist" i would like to start a group and say, "ok, when you see the target icon, target that and we will be fine"
i like this idea, if you could set it so that it is only seen from group members or maybe guild members. it should be something that can be seen from anyone outside of of the group.

This is great but when will we see Faction Rank Icon (Ensign) next to our names?
Ummmm.... he said 'ungrouped'. And in any case, now I have to click ALT, which means freezing movement in the middle of the battle (if you use mouse to move) while I try to look up a persons name in the random (ok not quite) list, while hoping it's actually on the page, clicking them, and then click ALT again, and then trying to find them, assuming they are still alive

Personally, I'd be much happier with easier targetting for medics...as it is, in PvP, I'm trying to chase non-grouped faction members with my mouse while they run around all over the place getting killed...EXTREMELY annoying.
Friendly-targetting system like the tab would be great! (:
A lot of people don't seem to know that you can target group members by clicking on their name in the group listing.
The Squad leader Target icon is great, especialy since /assist doesn't seem to be too reliable (wow, 1 shot, then you stand there)
The only time the "health status" icon should be on by default is in a group, and only visible to team members. There should be an option to turn it on for public viewing when the player wants, such as when they're in the med center, but it should generaly be off by default... reset to "off" by shuttle trips, relogining.
While that would be useful, what would be even more useful is a /target X command and a working /assist command.

Today one of the programmers decided to add a floating icon over people's heads who were badly wounded (he was playing a medic, and found it useful). This led to a discussion on how a feature like this might work--what filters you'd want, who should be able to see the icons, how you turn them on and off.
I am not a medic, but it sounds good! Only medics should see it and only by the own faction members (neutrals both side).
But please, make it small and filigran, not like the ugly blue "i"-s above the NPCs....brrrr

Another suggestion was the ability for a group leader to set an icon over a target (I believe that the squad leaders have already asked for something like this as an ability). Ability for anyone? For SL's only?
Really good idea! Only Group Leaders should be able to set them. So every groupmember can see, what to shoot. (it would be better, if a Groupleader could set a Puller [maybe /setpuller name]and the Puller could set the target sign!)
If everyone can set a target and everybody sees everybody's target, nobody knows, which is who's :-)
No, sir, I don't like it. - Mr. Horse
..but seriously. If such a thing was implimented, it would need to be groupmates only, because in PvP I really do not want to have a flag over my head telling all the rebels that I'm the weak link and to shift over and finish me off.
If it's group only, I can live with it (and turn it off), but I don't really see the need for it since it's way easier to see everyone's health bars on the group list as it is. I also don't want a flag going up over the group's dancer's head because she broke a nail and the 5hp damage she took was 50% of her health.

Probably already been said, but 4 pages is too much to browse at work..
What would be useful is if, with the icons, you add slash commands to acquire players or creatures with that flag..
e.g. /selectgrouptarget to target the SL's designated victim or /targetnearestwounded
Players can then bind those to keys to make hunting in a group a lot smoother.
