Sure, some things haven't changed and some things will never change but I, for one, have seen SOE listen to the customer database (including the ones on this board - as example, the non-implementation of the Droid Commander profession that was shot down by the vocal majority on these boards) and so I believe the original quote is outdated.

These people are voicing their discontent. Think of it as a protest

I've never been a big fan of Dev bashing, but this man does have a very damn good point

At its core, the idea of polling players in game is valid and one I'd like to pursue, but when it comes to forum demographics, avid posters tend to be early adopters and power users. The feedback they provide is always valuable information.

Thanks for responding TH. (I know this is definatly not the place for this kind of thing)

I know where you're coming from, I'm in a vaguely related position myself, and it's never easy when one of your own coworkers complely underminds and insults the "small sliver of [the] overall fanbase" that just happens to be the same people that it's your job to communicate to. (And no offense, I know you've been busy with your new position, but it has been way, way too quite in the Dev Tracker)

I'm sorry, I'm bitter. I fully agree with all the scheduling changes and etc, but the crap that's been spewing out of people mouths in some recent interviews is very, very disheartning. I suppose I shouldstart "fightingalongside a Jedi." I hear it's cool and exiting.

Quick TH, run and hide, sweep these posts under the carpet like all the rest. Don't respond on any issues that were brought up, don't respond to any ideas that are brought up, just run away from it all and hope it gets better.

BTW, you have less than 2 weeks until you need to implement combat changes that you promised would happen every two weeks up until JTL. When do you guys actually plan on telling us what these changes are going to be and when will they be put on TC for us to test them? What are you going to do it the old way and throw the changes on TC the day before they are implemented? Amazing how this game has taken so many steps backwards and so few forward. I think we are actually at June of last year in terms of communication now.

IGNPC: We often hear the loudest cries from a relative minority. Still, it seems odd that all the comments sent our way have been negative.

Haden Blackman: Yeah, all the guys who are happy with everything are playing the game. They aren't spending their time sending you guys letters or posting on the forums.

I have to applaud and agree. Haden's comments in his interviews really made us all feel like fools.

Kurt,

As the Community Relations Manager, I was hoping you could explain the relationship between these two quotes:

Haden Blackmansaid in an IGN Interview:

Haden Blackman: Yeah, all the guys who are happy with everything are playing the game. They aren't spending their time sending you guys letters or posting on the forums.

You are responsible for the communications which is ongoing between the developers and the players of this game. It's time someone either explained or apologized for this. Most of us who have been here a year are wondering why we bothered providing any input to the community when this is the attitude we have been seeing.

Its too bad noone listens to it. Its painfully obvious that it falls on deaf ears. I am not saying that its you, TH, as you have bore the brunt of MANY players frustrations. I know you do nothing but relay info from them to us, and vice versa.

I swear these guys (devs) keep screwing stuff up/half fixing it/delaying it just to keep themselves in a job.

One man's protest is another man's whining. That is all I am saying.

I personally feel that this community needs to feel valued again (as recent decisions at SOE, quotes from interviews and a serious (but common) ambiguous "Dev-Speak" has left most people feeling like their the door mats of MMO's.

TH you need to be tortured and forced to watch rainbow brite or carebears , or even teletubies and barney for 24 hrs nonstop till its implemented..

IGN -- We often hear the loudest cries from a relative minority. Still, it seems odd that all the comments sent our way have been negative.
HADEN -- Yeah, all the guys who are happy with everything are playing the game. They aren't spending their time sending you guys letters or posting on the forums.

Ok then, I'm a little confused now. You guys have come up with all sorts of "the majority of players ". How do you get your statistical data? Boards? Ingame interviews? Exit polls? Convention/Tradshows? I'm really curious to know how the market research data is compiled and a "majority" defined.

It can't be the boards, because the majority of the players are happy with the game and not sending IGN emails or posting on the boards, right? Why use a cross section of just the unhappy players? Wouldn't that skew the numbers?

TH, you sound like you value the info you get from the boards, it's obvious from his interview thatBlackman disagrees with you.
