I've never been a big fan of Dev bashing, but this man does have a very damn good point

The damage to your organization's image done by the combination of significant mis-statements and inexcusably insulting commentary about this community by your representatives in other very public forums isn't just going to magically disappear.Step up. You've got the Manager title now, so start leading. The deafening silence on critical issues over the last couple weeks is not leadership. You, Kevin and most especially Haden have got to come in here visibly for a few days and do more than offer a brief and very unconvincing mea culpa. You've got to answer questions directly, honestly and most importantly quickly to have any hope of restoring your credibility and your organization's image as people deserving of these customers' money.Quit sidestepping, sir ... it is not making a constructive contribution to resolving the issues.
I agree. And while we may be a minority, we know a lot of people... word of mouth can be very damaging. Everywhere I go, I hear people saying, "omg, don't play SWG!" Seriously, something is wrong when that happens. Alienating your official forums is not going to help.
damn forum bugs

*** 9.2 Update Notes ***
Crafting Quests
Located in Commercial Guild Halls located in static cities now have NPC contractors that can give out new crafting missions. There are mission difficulties of easy, challenging and difficult depending the skill boxes a player possesses. The rewards granted are some credits and a small experience point bonus associated with crafting the item. The goal of the implementation of the “Crafting Quests” is to provide our wide variety of crafting professions the chance to use/sell their otherwise obsolete items and wares, creating a market for novice and intermediate crafters in a market of masters.
Are these in yet?
There have been many reports that the NPC contractors can't be found in any of the Commercial Guild Halls.
Thanks for the head's up. They will be live tomorrow.
Ok, let me see if I have this straight. One of the key features of this "mini publish" somehow did'nt make it into the code that was pushed to live? Are you kidding me? On top of that we have a new CTD bug on what is a very common 'puter set-up?
I'm speechless.
I mean this sincerly - the best thing you can do now is to unplug the servers and re-release this train wreck (once you have a working game) in early 2006.
It's less than amusing. Make promises for more than a year. Deny you ever made said promises. Have a key developer insult a "small sliver" of your player base. Stay positively silent for a week. Release a "mini-publish" that is missing one of the three main features. Rely on your player base to bring it to your attention that features are missing. Is this for real?

At its core, the idea of polling players in game is valid and one I'd like to pursue, but when it comes to forum demographics, avid posters tend to be early adopters and power users. The feedback they provide is always valuable information.
IGNPC: We often hear the loudest cries from a relative minority. Still, it seems odd that all the comments sent our way have been negative. Haden Blackman: Yeah, all the guys who are happy with everything are playing the game. They aren't spending their time sending you guys letters or posting on the forums.
Big diff of opinion...

But that doesn't make their feedback any less valuable. Quite the opposite. If everyone that played the game posted, it would actually diminish the importance of each post (not to mention make it very difficult to find). So in reality, the two comments are complimentary, not conflicting.Frankly I don't understand why everyone feels they have to take comments like Blackman's so personally all the time. Think about it. The last time you were having a great time in-game (yeah yeah insert your sarcastic comment about how long ago that was -here-), did you stop and say, "Man, I have to go post this in the forums!" or did you just keep playing? Aren't people more apt to post when they're NOT having fun? That's all he was trying to say. It was poorly said, but if you look past the words to the message, you might find out that it's not so bad after all.But all of this is off-topic, and has nothing to do with Publish 9.2. In a way, I'm ashamed at myself for contributing to it.
People do this all the time. I even got in the Wednesday Weekly Beta Update back in the day when I went to the forums to post how excited I was about a cool battle I fought. Yeah, that's an old example but I have mostly been posting my excitement off the official forums and on other forums these days... well back when I was having excitement. I haven't been having any lately. hehe. But the point is, if you look around the forums (especially galaxy forums), there are lots of people posting about the good times they had.

This mini-publish was horrid. Useless race tracks and wookie armor now giving them a bigger selection than normal players that are supposed to get armor anyway. If this keeps up this will be my last gamecard.
