After posing this question to several people I have turned up the following results...

25 1 year + players = Never polled

12 "Newer" Players (under 6 months) = Never polled

So who then is being asked?

Haden has this pair of hand puppets, see....

lol... Poor TH. Haden makes the mess, TH has to live with it.

Maybe we should clear up Haden's point of view: we're a small sliver of the fanbase until they need our help with something.

20% = 1 player in 5 = not a small sliver.

Valuable information huh? Well, explain then why Mr Hayden Black, in his interviews with some gaming zines this past week or so essentially said that we forum users are just whiners, with nothing better to do than cry to the magazines?

If our information and feedback is so valuable, why then are you still pushing back the CB (please dont insult our intelligence by using the party-line that "we never said *when* the CB would be coming out"...everyone knows that is crap and just an excuse to cover the fact that the bean counters who make the decisions for you guys want to sell more boxes, and JtL is the way to do that) and allowing bugs and brokeness that has existed for over 9 months persist?

For the record, I dont really blame you guys...I know you do as much as "they" let you. I am sure that the people signing your paycheck are resposible for the state of the game. I know that if *you* go to be "king for a day", things would be fixed pretty quickly. So, the only thing thatremains is to hope that you guys will all stage a Walk-Out of work, and refuse to do any more work until LucasArts and SOE lets you fix the CORE GAME before anything else.

Ok, well this feedback has taken a turn for the ugly. So here is some feedback from a simple person that comes to the forums about once a week:

Wookie Armor: (negative) Who the heck came up with that design? The first thing I saw in the Theed starport was a wookie wearing a helmet that looked like it should have been on the hood of a '70 El Dorado. But it does explain why wookies are too proud to wear armor. That armor looks like a tourture chamber cross-dresser. (not thatthere's anything wrong with that.)

Crafting Missions: I was excited to hear that that was going to be a feature, but either I'm too dumb to find them, they are broken, or the miner in the guild hall that gives me a simple survey mission is it. If it's that third option, then why bother. I can get that from the mission terminal, and with better pay.

Race: Ok, this one is cool. unless you happen to live on a server that has built a cantina in the mouth of Begger's Canyon. It would have been nice to have the ruins of the stadium from Episode I somewhere in there too.

(Oh, and although I haven't checked, if the necklace bug is finnaly squashed, all else is forgiven.)

When posting on the forum it says:

When writing your message, remember to keep the language clean.

Could we get added ontopic too. so threads don't get hijacked and ruined like this one, where most post isn't feedback.

If people want to post that they have been wronged in all kinds of ways they should start seperate threads for it.

Maybe we as grown up forum posters should start hitting the abuse button on every post that offtopic for the thread to get things moderated.

Am I the only one that finds this...funny?

Race tracks cant be run on some servers because of player cities.

The crafting quest NPC's arent in game.

Hmm...I am reminded of a quote...What was it? Oh yeah...

Isn't this quote over half a decade old and from someone who has nothing to do with SWG?

Things change. But it is interesting that there has been no postings on feedback here. I think that SOE is in need of some servere Community damage control...

Look at more recent examples then, some things haven't changed. Apparently we are whiners now.

Why solicit feedback from this small sliver of the overall fanbase that reads the forumwhen you could be getting much more meaningful feedback from all those people that are actually playing the game?

I've never been a big fan of Dev bashing, but this man does have a very damn good point

At its core, the idea of polling players in game is valid and one I'd like to pursue, but when it comes to forum demographics, avid posters tend to be early adopters and power users. The feedback they provide is always valuable information.

TH, the problem is what you've tried to accomplish has been single handidly destroyed by a fellow red name. The feedback that is provided was classified as "whines" so to speak, and that's what the message we were given. You say one thing, but the people behind you have said something completely opposite.

Indeed - that's where the "small sliver" quote came from. I heard a rumor that Mr. Small Sliver himself was planning on sending a message of some sort to these forums. Any update on that?

Sorry, but you guys don't post a damn thing of substance in a week and finally come back, what did you expect TH? You need to do some major damage control to ease the anger that many people on the forums are feeling towards not only SOE but you in general since you have been MIA it seems on any subject for days.

*** 9.2 Update Notes ***
  • Crafting Quests
Located in Commercial Guild Halls located in static cities now have NPC contractors that can give out new crafting missions. There are mission difficulties of easy, challenging and difficult depending the skill boxes a player possesses. The rewards granted are some credits and a small experience point bonus associated with crafting the item. The goal of the implementation of the “Crafting Quests” is to provide our wide variety of crafting professions the chance to use/sell their otherwise obsolete items and wares, creating a market for novice and intermediate crafters in a market of masters.

    • Are these in yet?

There have been many reports that the NPC contractors can't be found in any of the Commercial Guild Halls.

Thanks for the head's up. They will be live tomorrow.

And half of this thread that was meant to be about Publish Feedback but instead have people complaining about not being listened to discourages this 'whiner' stereotype how?

Sure, some things haven't changed and some things will never change but I, for one, have seen SOE listen to the customer database (including the ones on this board - as example, the non-implementation of the Droid Commander profession that was shot down by the vocal majority on these boards) and so I believe the original quote is outdated.

Unfortunately Kurt, you are going to make very little progress at restoring the forums as a positive place to exchange information until you step up and do some damage control. The damage to your organization's image done by the combination of significant mis-statements and inexcusably insulting commentary about this community by your representatives in other very public forums isn't just going to magically disappear.

Step up. You've got the Manager title now, so start leading. The deafening silence on critical issues over the last couple weeks is not leadership. You, Kevin and most especially Haden have got to come in here visibly for a few days and do more than offer a brief and very unconvincing mea culpa. You've got to answer questions directly, honestly and most importantly quickly to have any hope of restoring your credibility and your organization's image as people deserving of these customers' money.

Quit sidestepping, sir ... it is not making a constructive contribution to resolving the issues.
