Heh, this has to be one of the most ignorant posts I've ever read. Saying taking 2.5x melee damage would do nothing is so stupid it's not even funny.

Selfyn, If you have a few minutes spare and are looking for something to kill the time... head over the CM thread in this forum and see his posts and suggestions.. It's just too hard to put into words what I am feeling right now ( although the word Irony does stick out more than any others ).. All I could do is laugh . Personally I have just realised people like this are not worth the time of day.. As I am sure you have too.

lmao...so are you one of the ones from rogue squad that come to bestine to GTEF me to oblivion? I don't recognize your name, but I only ever send tells to people that piss me the **edit** off by using the GTEF on me...So clearly, if you're perceiving me to be a "whiner" in game, you're clearly GTEFing me...I go overt all the time, I fight no matter what, I fight even though I know 99% of the people out there are TKMs and master riflemen, no matter how much I hate how overpowered they are I still fight OVERT. And my poisons take 12-18 seconds to not even incap people, when's the last time a riflemen took that long to incap AND DB someone? Uh, using a CDEF rifle maybe, but a laser rifle will kill anyone in about 6 seconds...

lol my posts in the combat medic forum are nothing...where am I asking to be a god and be able to kill people in 1 shot from a **edit**ing mile away like you guys (and your infinate wisdom) seem to come up with every **edit**ing day in the riflemen forum. I'm asking for better stims, better area stims, better mind heal that doesn't wound us...and uh what else? lol Sure am asking to be a god like you guys eh?

Have another idea to address some of our biggest annoyance to other players in PvP battles. Give all ranged combat professions thier own "cover" ability. For rifles it would remain the same, down in the dirt, prone. Carbineers would simulate being hidden behind something, and would take cover while kneeling (like taking cover behind a small rock, and shooting over it). Pistoleers would take cover while standing (simulating standing behind a tree or side of a building or the like, and shooting around the corner). Rifleman would remain the only profession able to move while under cover, using sneak. Cover in PvE would give other classes the same bonus it gives rifleman, a few free shots before drawing agro, or perhaps have the creature/NPC "notice" fewer of the shots, making it harder for that person to draw agro. What cover would do in PvP is make you imune to any ranged AE attacks, including strafe 2, fan shot, and whatever one carbineers have You would also recieve a slight bonus to avoid ranged attacks while under cover, to compensate for the fact you are imobile, but a melee to hit penalty, since you're a sitting duck.


Something else to consider...

Oh and not to mention I haven't been able to craft a single poison or disease worth my time for almost a few weeks now since there aren't any resources around that I can use....that ever happen to riflemen? Not able to use your only weapon for a few weeks? Nope. That's a combat medic's main balance in the game, we entirely rely on the spawns of resources to be able to make our weapons...but whatever, I'd gladly take the 75% damage reduction for poisons/disease if rifles got a 3 second speedcap for their specials.

That's not bad.. Eaca, At least people would usecover finally.. At the moment it'sclose to beinguseless in PVE/PVP.

Honestly, I think the split identity as snipers and heavy machinegunners is enjoyable. A few aspects of us need controlling, though: most importantly, the melee accuracy modifier MUST be fixed, as soon as humanly possible in a hot fix or whatever. Under current conditions, the supposed 2.5 melee accuracy modifier that should make a rifle bearer much easier to hit in melee is backwards; Instead of making a rifle usereasier to hit, it makes us HARDER.


A defense-stack build has the theoretical maximum possible melee defense of somewhere around 180. That should reduce to 60 when holding a rifle, but instead it acts more like having 450, or even more. I can make logs of hundreds of misses in a row on the part of a bolle bol or fambaa. As it is, a player that /aims can hit a ranged defense stacker, even the best of them, nearly 90% of the time, but there is no equivalent for melee classes trying to hit someone like myself. That backwards modifierNEEDS to be fixed.

It's not a backwards modifier they completely removed the 2.5x melee mod (after the warping issue, that all of us were harping about back when it was a pain to lvl, got resolved) for some strange reason. What we have now is either an intended massive increase in melee defense or more likely a bug that ups it to well above what we should have. Of course this is only noticeable to us and everyone else mistakes it for godliness, but what can you do?


We really should get the 2.5x mod back though like seflyn was saying. I actually agree with him I just misconstrued his post. I consider 10m give or take to be melee range not 20m but forgot about the lunge thing. That close a pistoleer should win most of the time but not enough to call us a walking corpse so that's why I disagreed. Oh well live and learn, then think twice.

I actually disagree. I think we should get a mod but not 2.5x. Maybe 1.5, just something. Many people will cry about it. 2.5x was too much but then again i am not a master yet. It seems we can wreak some major havok when we hit master. Anyway for what its worth, I really would like to see the damage types for different weapons fixed.

Well thats the thing though, 2.5x isn't too much since you can swap weapons and finish the job. It just means that if someone sneaks up on you (or warps like **edit** near everything was doing) you're dead before you can react. I leveled up during all the riflemen nerfs, in fact I hit novice the day of the T-21 nerf so I was unable to get one of those. It may make it a bit harder to use but all you need are tactics, a pistol, and concealshot. As for PvP, well thats what we had before so anything less would be considered cheap I'm sure.

Anyone who thinks a master rifleman right now can take out anyone in 6 seconds is an idiot. It just doesn't happen, except someone who has one of those extreme t21's that I've seen only on the forums.

What defines the Rifleman role in combat?

to make it short.

in pvp? SOLDIER
in pve? SNIPER (solo), SOLDIER (in groups).

Side notes:

The rifleman currently it is the only viable pvp combat proffession for wookiees, I am worried that any significant nerf might effectevely take out wookiees out of pvp.

Any DPS calculations should account for the fact that 99% of the rifleman dont wear ANY armor - 90% of the rifleman cannot wear ANY armor due to mind encumbrance factor.
