Thread: Publish 6 Feedback: New Visual Buff system
Didn't read through all the pages so it will probably be posted already but it has a few flaws:
I had all my 6 stats buffed, died, ander after cloning the buffs were still in the window.
Another one:
Was buffed, went afk for 45 minutes, system kicked me, relogged and stats weren't showing. But I was still buffed.
I like it. However I would like it more if it were a timer, and not an icon, so that I can tell how much time is left at any point during the buff. (without hovering over the icon) Or it could be a little digital clock right below the icon...

Brilliant Idea. I would settle for the icon flashing red 1 minute before it expires. It is a help when determining the duration of doctor buffs, but if in the middle of combat still isnt very effective in detemining when spice is about to expire.

The visual buff system is nice, but without the ability to click off buffs you don't want it's really useless. Without mousing over the buff you have no way of knowing what the buff is due to the lack of either text saying what the buff is or an icon for each buff that is unique to the bufff. Doc's were under the impression that with the buff window players would be able to click off unwanted buffs. As it stands right now a novice doc can buff me, a master doc, and I can't cancel out the buff, and my own buffs don't over-ride the lesser one. As it stands right now the only way to get rid of buffs is to have someone kill you and clone and start over, I don't think that this is how the system was intended to work or should work.
With the new buff window people should be able to click off their buffs if they don't want them just like you can in EQ. If you are worried about this getting abused add a schematic for a buff cancelling pack.
I love the buff window even thought I can't tell what the buffs actually are withough mousing over them.

there are reasons that graphic user interfaces were developed, for instant feedback.
instead of showing the icon for the buff & rollover for the duration, i'm thinking closer to the jedi force bar would work much, much better.
under each ham bar there could be the buff duration bar (and a fourth at the bottom for stomach) 7 bars total (8 for jedi). may be a bit combersum but it would visually tell you the duration left of buffs.
example. under health there is a bar, acually 3 separate bars stacked on top of each other (shortest duration on top) color coded similar to the ham it relates to. red = health, orange = strength, yellow = constitution. the bars 'drain' to show duration.
rollover on the bar should still list the text time remaining.
simple, and ultimately takes less screen realistate, plus a quick visual cue as to the duration.

Yup, I got killed by a peko peko albatross last night, and the buff window remained up, telling me I had more than an hour of time left on my willpower/focus buffs, when my character sheet showed no buffs at all.
