Thread: Publish 6 Feedback: Vehicle Customization and Ownership
Well, overall you can color me unimpressed. It's nice to have a bit of customization on our vehicles, and it's quite nice to have one of each vehicle in the datapad. I don't even mind having a DE component in the customization tool; I just asked a DE friend of mine to provide me with a schematic she built from my resources.
HOWEVER:
1) Auto-Store problems abound. It's really annoying to be stuck out in the wilderness and have your bike disappear when you stop to fight some baddies. No, I don't have scout any more, since I'm a Master Artisan, Master Merchant and am almost done with Master Weaponsmith. Since I *need* a few combat skills, I had to sacrifice Scout, and I'm reduced to running to the closest outpost to regenerate my bike.
2) The new 1500 HAM values on any vehicle deed are inexcusable. I wasted a *lot* of resources crafting a large set of vehicles, and had to pullthem all from my vendor when the complaints started pouring in. **How many times has it been requested that the deed display the HAM value?** I sure hope there is some kind of mitigation plan for this, because it has ruined my vehicle sales business for the moment, and decimated my resource cache. How is it, when there was feedback regarding this bug, that the publish went ahead, and a day early to boot? Did you think we wouldn't notice?
3) The color palette on the vehicles is dismal. How many shades of silvery-gray do we really need? Where is candy-apple red? Where is bright forest green? Where is Lemon Yellow? Does everyone in SOE drive a beige Volvo?
4) Requiring two charges to customize a vehicle is ridiculous. It's impossible to check color combinations when you have to do two coloring passes. Allow the trim and the body to be changed at the same time, and increase and match the two palettes. And how about a couple of choices for the seat color, while we're at it. Surely, black leather exists in the Star Wars Universe...
5) The colorization process is obviously buggy, and is probably related to issue #1. I agree that if you're using the auto-repair exploit, you should lose your colorization. However, this is not the only time this occurs. I have had my bike auto-store, then come back as plain-vanilla. I've gotten a bunch of flak regarding this from customers as well. Overall, this patch has really done a number on my credibility as a businessperson. I'm sure when I get home from work and log in again, I'm going to have more damage-control to deal with today as well.
I was really looking forward to this patch. I'm sorry to see that my hopes were dashed to the ground yet again.

I'm sorry Abe, but maybe you need to do some further testing, if you have done any at all, before making any more stupid statements.

Maybe if you weren't using a known exploit to fix your bike, you wouldn't lose your coloring! Store your bike before you travel.

3) Took a shuttle, but didn't store the vehicle. When I arrived at my destination, I of course stored it and pulled it out again. Colors gone. 2500 credits completely wasted.
So you ask what I think? I think it's broken, even after you ran it on the test server. What gives? Isn't the point of the test server to get rid of these issues BEFORE it goes live? Or am I still in Beta and just don't realize it.
The de-coloring bug happens WHENEVER we store a bike. I stored and called my bike three times in a row in my city, and each time I did this, I lost the trim color on my speeder. I tried it with my alt who owns a swoop, everytime I stored/called, I lost the frame color.
If you're the type that tests these things, no matter why the patches come out so buggy.
Hmmm, works fine for me. Mine still hasthe colorization after storing and calling it several times.
You must be doing something wrong.
Yes, youare sorry.
And you have absoultely no reason to insult me. I was only answering his post in that manner because he obviously uses the travel fix exploit all the time since he said "Took a shuttle, but didn't store the vehicle. When I arrived at my destination, I of course stored it and pulled it out again." He might as well have said, "I used the tarvel exploit to fix my vehicle and it reset the color!"
Gee, doesn't it make sense that since it resets the HAM that it would also reset the color?
And, my testing is far superior to the absoultely no testing that you do.
They can.

- Why require componets from DEs for a glorified spray can ?
- Please, please make more non-drab colours available for the frame. Even if its just the colours vailable for the trim.
Or remove the colour matrix completely and allow us to enter RGB values for both the trim and frame?
My thoughts go exactly along with others here:
On the positive side:
Nice of you to give us this ability. This will spark a renewed interest in vehicles for some time. Yourefforts to tie in different professions towards a common goal is admirable. The degeneration of these enhancements over time will insure the continued importance of Master Artisans.
Three vehicles on one's datapad. Well, at least you guys got something absolutelyright!
On the Negative side:
Drab color selection. I mean, come on, 6 shades of Grey? Who are you kidding? The color window selection is so drab and washed out, how can you tell the difference? We want COLORS, not varying shades of drab.
Making the frame and trim as seperate uses on the tool...read TIME AND MONEY SINK! Give us immersiveness and more content and we'll sink TON'S of both into SOE! The highest rated resources and crafting ability in the game give us a tool that has 12 applications (6 total)and costs more time and effort to create than the vehicle itself. This sounds too much like a 3 blade electricrotary razor that costs $19.95 with replacement blades that cost $39. You really think that we are that stupid, or are you counting on the fact the fact that most of us really are?
Making a critical, but non-essential, vehicleitem a DE manufactured item= QUICK FIX TO MAKE DEs "IMPORTANT". Instead of making droids that actually make a difference and feel "StarWarsy", you guys add this non-sensical item to the list for vehicle customization as a cheap attempt to incorporate Professions. Yeah, I know, you're working on this droid thing, but why toss out a cheap bone when the meat is on the hook already?
I was all eager to make color customization kits up til I logged in today and looked at the schematic. Now I won't make any. It's bad enough I have to make so many sub-components for PSG's, but I'm not going to waste time and resources on a color kit with no actual value to me if I have to go a bunch of components from someone else. I have 3 Masters, with no room to learn to make them myself and since the vehicles work just fine with their lovely slime-brown colors, I'll stick with those. Some may call that making it interdepency, but after finding out how much I have to go get Reinforced Fiber Panels and Synth Cloth as a Master Armorsmith, as well as using HIDE in supposedly high-tech armors, I will make no kits. I will make NOTHING that requires such cross-profession requirements that make no sense. I don't care what it is.
Instead of adding 'new' features like colored vehicles, fix some like stat shifing on PSG's, the armor hold, and give us armor that's worth something. RIS is worse than bad, Padded is only made for fashion andthere's almost no point to making anything but composite and I really wish instead of hide, it used synth cloth and fiber panels for it's 'cloth' backing or whatever all that leather is for. What's next, powered armor made out of bones?
I haven't found this to be true. I watched a player that wasn't a master artisan change his swoop colors. Not sure if the color failed upon storage. Definitely need that fixed though.
