Thread: Publish 6 Feedback: Creature Handlers & Pets
Get my pet off my back!
It's alwasy standing on me and gets inmy way...very annoying. ![]()
TH,
The pets are now scripted to stand 0 meters from your avatar, meaning they stand right on top of you at all times. If the pet is large this causes some pretty serious visibility issues for targeting, looting, etc. Previously, the pets would stand 3 - 5 meters from your avatar.
I believe that this is the contributing factor to the pets who are running from all creatures. During combat the attacker and attackee will try to jostle to get to their best distance from each other. With pets that would be 3m, but this has also now been errantly set to 0m. Not a good thing when the attackee tries to maintain 3m. Most of the "pet running" syndrome that seems to be happening is occurring on flat terrain and suggests a pathing issue (I could be wrong on this, but I'll test it tonight).
Please get this fixed, as these are extremely annoying bugs (I won't call any large creature at this point).
Actually, it seems like some of the problems are with all creatures, be they pets or mobs. I've been grinding through melee classes over the last few weeks almost exclusively on Dath. I am very used to what melee combat with mobs on Dath is like. Creatures have always tried to maintain a certain distance from their target while in melee. After the publish it seems like this distance is now scaling (more or improperly) for all creatures. So, the large creatures now want to stand 9-10m away from what they are figthing. This puts them just outside of melee range for smaller creatures (and players). So...
Large mob vs player (using auto follow) = player gets 'target is too far away' messages on 75-90% of their attacks while the mob tears them up
Large mob vs player (NO autofollow) = player continually trying to close the distance to the mob, the mob "running" away to try and regain its 9-10m buffer, player hitting more often but still getting 'target is too far away' message far too frequently, mob moving and as a result attacking less frequently (it seems)
Large pet vs mob = mob constantly trying to close with pet, pet trying to regain its 9-10m buffer and "running away" from the mob
Small pet vs Large mob = same as Large mob vs player
Same size vs same size = no problem
Hope this helps
Specials still don't work reliably if at all
Pets with ranged attacks can be taught a command for it but they won't actually use it like other specials
Some BE pet deeds are showing ranged attacks but not actually getting even the command (I bought a gurrek skinned BE pet with a ranged attacke but didn't get the tame option for it.
my cu pa auto-stores when i am on my way to missions, in fights, anywhere...
my cu pa is running from Gubburs(sp?)(cu pa is CL 11 and has never had a problem with that before...)
2. What is the Pet description, specifically (type/level, etc)?
Cu Pa... CL 11... 1100 in all HAMs... does 90-130 dmg...
3. Was it a Bio engineered pet or a tamed pet?
Bio-engineered as far as i know...
Hey TH, here is a suggestion. Talk to the CH Correspondent. I thought that was their purpose. We have been complaining about creature AI, both MOB and pets, since about 20 minutes after release. You really hosed the creature handlers and weaponsmith with this publish and anyone that bought FWG's in bulk. Talk about a stealth nerf... This was a stealth elimination of the CH. It is not playable now. My legs are tired from all the running around. My character is not a young man. lol
There are thread after thread of problems in the CH Forum. I thought that was where we were supposed to post. Since we can not create a post in Live. Do you think we just make this up to amuse ourselves? I have been a MCH since around 3 weeks after publish. Do you think I do not understand how to use my character? Well, good thing that BE's can provide pets to non-ch because the way you are going, there are not going to be any CH's left. Oh, wait, never mind I forgot about the "Droid Invasion."
On a side note, did you intend MOB's to be able to chase characters into public buildings? I had to kill a Voritor Tracking Lizard in the bedroom of my medium Naboo House. Followed me in the door chased me around in the main room and then followed me up the steps and through doors. My taylor said the bed clothes are ruined and will have to be replaced. Yes, I role play. Tried it again with the house set to private and they do not enter. Unless you changed something after Wednesday, I would be happy to reproduce it for you.
