Thread: The Path of the Jedi: Reckoning of Effort
Got tired of reading like 8 bazillion pages back, now, I logged in to be "Glowing with an inner light, The Force is with you" however, if yall made the magic number 8, versus 5 as many of us believed was true until today, I do not qualify as 'automatic' in your list. Which takes precedence, my group 2/3 status, or my full fledged 'glowy' status? Since I now have six months of work laid out for me, I'd appreciate understanding just how long I have to start said work. Thanks for your time.
Also...I understand the reasoning behind the moving 'target' but up until today, we were lead to believe those on the 'silent' were 80% done, and many of us counted on that to acheive our goal, with school full time and working, im looking at another six months due to the cycles. Not a whine, just more of...why?
please answer this question.. I think its been asked for about 40 pages

The old man will visit you when you have completed the requirements of the new path to becoming a Jedi. While this new path is still a secret, it is no where near as daunting as the holo-professions method. We have made additional provisions for those that worked partially through the old system. Here is how you will be allocated a visit based on the old system:
You will be granted access to the village…
Automatically qualify
Group 1
Group 2
Group 3
Group 4
I'm still no clear regarding this. The post states that old man visitsyouif you qualify to go to the village. Now how does this really work? Does that mean that if we are all glowy we will get a visit from the old man regardless of which grp we are in? Or does this mean that you have to wait for your turn regardless of whether you are glowy or not simply because of the grp you currently belong in? And is the chart above used to describe people who have at least used the holocron once and master the professions stated by the holocrons? If yes what about people who have recently only started the game, where would they stand then?
I'm still confused about this new system, perhaps someone or TH can answer, or better yet compile an FAQ since alot of people seems confused too.

OMG!!! PEOPLE STOP!!
I'll be the first to admit SOE has made some mistakes in this game. And yes they have lied to us. And I'm just as pissed as the next guy but come on!!
People keep yelling at the Devs and cursing SOE and some of the blame lies there. But alot of the blame lies with us as well. What do you expect them to do when we're all yelling and saying this game is terrible.
They want us to be happy, they don't want us to quit. Some of them because of the money we're giving them, but some (like the Devs) really don't want us to go because they want us to enjoy their game.
The game is what we make it, if we power level, and exploit then the Devs will have to change the game to stop that. If we yell at how something sucks they'll try and change it. This is what they're here to do, but they can't make it great if we don't let them.
We need toplay the game the way they intend, and THEN make suggestions. Now I know I will get flamed for this, but don't please. This is more in response to the state of the game rather that Pub 10 in particular.
For those of you who grinded hardcore and feel that you got shafted, I am sorry. And some of you did. To those of you who didn't grind (like myself, I only did two Holo's), and waited for this system, you have no right to complain about being last.
But my point is more in general. We need to stop blaming the Devs and look at ourselves. How do WE react, how do WE play. This is a GAME. We are meant to enjoy the game as a whole, not just Jedi, or making credits, it should be the whole experience. They can't center the game around one group or another all they can do is try and make it best for eveyone.
This game will only get better! People compare it to EQ and others, but how long has EQ been around!!! I bet if you could read forums from when EQ came out they would be the same. You have to give it time. A year is not a long time. And this game will only get better if we make it.
Threating to cancel only encourages the problem. They will scramble to appease those who threaten instead of focusing on the core game. Those who think we have no effect on what happens in the game, you're wrong. What we do on these forums, and in the game will always effect it, just not the way you think.
If you are truly unable to enjoy this game then leave, thats whats best for you, its your money and you should spend it on something that makes you happyBut for me I want to stay and enjoy the good parts, and there are many if you look instead of grinding, and help make the bad parts better or go away.
Im sure I'll get flamed, even though I don't wish to hurt anyone with this. Or worse no one will read it, or those who do won't care. But I had to say my peace for me and for those who feel the same way. As for us, we'll keep playing, laughing, and struggling and some day this game will live to its potential. Sorry for rabbling.

Hummm... Good Response.
<------ Gives a respectful nod to the guy with the thermal detonator (ROTJ reference)
To answer your query, as often as my abilities to stalk my prey will allow. The thrill of hunting a Jedi (I hunt alone, with few exceptions), and the excitement of pulling out my favorite carbine in a crowded cantina, far out way getting my arse handed to me (with a few exceptions) after the initial 3 - 5 minutes. After all these months, it still takes me a half hour to come down from these encounters.
I would have to acknowledge the point you are making has some validity. I can see how those involved in the GCW might be frustrated with balance and continuity issues. My approach to the game definitely differs from those that enjoy (or wish to enjoy) the GCW and PVP aspects of SWG. I have to admit, I have a few years on a vast majority of those participating in SWG, so the "investment", whether monetary or time in general, has a lesser impact on my perceptions as well.
Heh, ye would think a Thermal Detonator would mean somethin' in SWG though, eh?
I see yer point now.

Well, I didn't hologrind at all - in fact, I've never owned a holocron, except for a Sith Holo that I keep as a decoration. I've done 5 professions in the year I've been playing - Tailor, Merchant, Marksman, Teras Kasi, and Artisan, and there's no way that I hit all 5 holo-professions by blind luck. But, I've done all the POIs and have enough other badges to be "one with the force", so I qualify under the new system.
Well, which is it?
To be clear:
Ok to put it simply to try to get the answer most are looking for.
A is eligible for a visit from the old man in what time frame??
B is eligible for a visit from the old man in what time frame??
If B is not immediate then is it group 1, 2, 3, or 4?
Those starting a char today and buying the game can complete the req in a few days and be eligiable to what people want to know is what kind of time frame are those eligable looking at. Most wont mind being told that it will be a month or 2 but eligable is such a non descript response as it means nothing. The old man could infact be your RL son that visits you as you die waiting 50 years from now. But hey your eligiable still ![]()
