Thread: IC4: Path of the Jedi
Jedi complaint (and with reason) to be harassed by BH and people saying "hey! you Jedi, I have your name, you are in my list, I am going to kill you again and again" or "marry me!" etc..
Other complaint: "People see us with examine and, no badges, no professions..."
At the moment, Jedi have no valid reason to have their profile filled up. And maybe with good reason, they would never want to take another profession appart from jedi, but, wait.. another complaint, this time not from Jedi:
"Revamp Underworld!" from the Smugglers..
So, maybe Smugglers could "forgery documentation" as one skill in the Underworld tree, that can change your profile, it could give you different name, title, professions, badges..
Jedi could find it useful, and maybe other people too. Could be those papers can help you pass scans from imps, make you appear as other faction, well, you know. Only ideas, but could be cool to have that in game, for Jedi, and others.
Jedi need to be influencing whats going on not only be hunted but actually have a reason to be dangerous.
The path of jedi should have 2 ways to complete it: the original way using holocrons or doing a semi-long quest( don't want it to be so long that players will want to quit and go back to what they were doing). If you are to choose holocrons, you should have to complete only 3 professions that the are given and after you've completed the last profession, you'll be rewarded for your long hours of hard work, instead of trying to guess what other professions have to be completed because your holo went silent. If you choose the quest, you will go through a series ofmissions based on the professionyou currently have so that you wont be give a quest with a mastercommando difficulty when you are a Teras Kasi Master( Or have a highcombat levelmissions when you are only an artisan and a novice dancer). And your quest should take place on different planets of 6 at max. The missions should be given by a jedi NPC( preferrably the same jedi from The Jedi Temple Ruins on Dantooine for the first few missions). And as a jedi, you should be able to lower hisjedi visibility visibilty by complete some special tasks.
First of all, as is seen in the movies Jedis are one-in-a-million. So the track to jedi must be a long, extremely difficult, and extremely rare track.
Secondly, it has to be secret (no titles like 'Jedi Initiate'). However, Jedi need to stand out in appearance.
Thirdly a Jedi must be a 100% RP'er. Jedi's can't be the kind of gamer who just wants to kill things.
And lasty the Jedi must be given many unique things that will seperate him from the SWG community.
My solution:
Devs must monitor much more often. They should look for a well-rounded individual, who actively takes part in the galactic civil war, has a nice set of skills (one for battle, and one domestic [crafting, healing]), and who either helps others out with a good sense of RP. I took most of these from the life of Luke Skywalker. Here's some ways an individual can be marked in my categories:
-Galactic Civil War: Has taken place in faction battles, has completed the theme parks. While this does exclude most crafters/healers, they can be giving support to individuals or handing out crafted items to other factioners.
-Well-Rounded Skills: One mastered battle proffession and one mastered crafting/support proffession. As can be seen with Luke Skywalker, he was a homely person working on a farm, but was also a good pilot.
-Community Member: Noob-helping is good for a light side, while for a sith it would be better for them to keep to themselves and work on their own power (vague, I haven't decided this yet). They should also have a nice RP, in open air they should speak with a certain air.
-Dev Monitoring: They should keep an avid eye out, but rarely hand out the WP to a Jedi Quest.
-The Jedi quest: It should take a player on a huge turkey hunt. As in most video games you'll get frustrated and annoyed with it, but if you press on you'll be rewarded. This quest should involve trials, rendezvous with targets, and things of this nature. Here's my example:
The FS character is the same one as you currently have. After opening the potential, you are given a WP to a "jedi master" who will take you on as your padawan. All your previous skills are wiped clean (harsh, but worth it), and you are given a new tree, a few jedi abilities, and a beginning lightsaber. They are then giving a few preliminary trials in a certain area. They will have to utilize their skills to take down enemies. They are then let out into the world to hone in on their skills taking down enemies utilizing their skills and growing stronger. (The padawen will NOT have the ability to do any other skills besides Jedi). Eventually they are able to return to their masters home to learn skills when they are needed. It is then the object of the padawan to become a community member in the way a jedi is. A jedi deals almost soly with other jedi and the higher archy of factions. How you can do this, I don't know.
That's all,

Cloner asked: But a question on everyone's mind, I'm sure, is the question of the future way to unlock the force sensitive slot. Is there any progress report on the new path?
Keldarin replied: We've been actively working on the Jedi Revamp and I think you will all be pretty excited about what we have planned. We're moving away from the skill based enabling that we have now and moving to a complete quest driven system. Enabling your Force Sensitive skills will no longer require revoking skills or significantly changing you character. There also won't be a specific Force Sensitive slot anymore, you will actually enable the Force skills for your current character and progress from there. And that's all I'm saying for now. ;-)
Haden added: Our goal here is to make the progression towards becoming a Jedi feel more like the progression in the films, and to make it a bit more accessible.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
I honestly hope this is not really the case. I have put in a lot of work under the current system, because I was working toward the chance to play a second character on my server, with a different race than my primary. I created my original character with the Knowledge in mind that it would not be my force sensitive character. Of course I could always delete my primary character and start over, But how fair is that to me to loose all the progress I've already made with that character? That said, what happens to those people who have already opened their FSCS? Do they have to choose which character to have deleted? That is not fair to them at all. Please consider, that suddenly changing all the rules like this affects every player, not just the squeaky wheels.
Lastly, I hope you will keep the idea of becoming a Jedi a different journey for each Character. If making it more accessible is your only goal, then, by all means, make it a set static quest like a theme park, and every noob that wants to join a mega-guild will have it open in under an hour. Please, I beg, make it something that will be a real challenge to accomplish, and don't give any more hints on how to do it. When I first began, part of the charm of the FSCS was the mystery behind how to open it.
Sincerely,
Abraisax
PLEASE i Beg You Let Us Keep Our Main Char if we Unlock Jedi ,it would be Unfair to Us and Give a Advantaged to people who have ALlready got Jedi
What I would like to see is get rid of the rare drops that are needed to make our weapon.
We should not have to depend on killing something that cant be killed without a large group to make a decent saber it is pathetic.
And not everyone has the millions of credits to buy them.
Heres what i suggest
Let Dark JediCraft thier own (and make the resources available for this nothin rare lol)
Allow Light Jedi to Forage Their components
Im going to be serious with my opinion if things dont change soon im going to move on to another game,
wich is very sad because this game has alot of potential but I think we worked hard enough on opening our slot so therefore should not be this difficult to craft a decent saber so we can skill.
Also some Def mods wouldnt hurt would it?
Or dont Jedi know how to defend themselvesin your book ![]()
Wel them are my 2 main concerns

Crikey! Loads of suggestions..
I would like to see Coruscant as a single player add-on. You would go here for rare loots and Jedi quests. Quests could play like the Jedi Knight games ie regular shoot the enemy type things. Excuse my lack of jargon i am new to games, but am a big Star Wars fan..
Coruscant i think as a city / world would be too much for the servers hence the single player nature, but you could upload progree made in the single - player add-on to your character on the server this could unlock your Jedi ability.
Long term idea or improbable / impossible / not done before?Sorrywouldnt know but thought i'd suggest as it sounds good to me!
I also think that Barmen should be a link to available Trade goods on each planet, causefinding AVAILABLE goods from vendors shown on CNTL-Vcan be difficult, andcould help avoid the Spam artists at Spaceports.
Leyas
Play on Bloodfin
i say you should just leave system way it is it it difficult and time consuming and thatwhat keeps the balance of jedis in the galaxy if holo grinding stops there will be very few entertainers in cantinas and far less balance of professions as there is now why change a good thing
TH, thanks for giving us all a chance to post our ideas here. I noticed its up to 43 pages so far - I would have thought by now it would have been many more pages with everyone offering their 2c worth! ![]()
Anyway, this is my 2c:
I would like to see that people who have worked hard to unlocking the fs slot but not quite got there yet to be considered. The number of proffs you have mastered along the path should be a factor, and other proper game type activities (the GCW, badges, theme parks, you name it) should be considered. People need to be encouraged to play the game, not just to take advantage of one narrow path along the way.
In terms of quests (and I mean for both fs characters AND people trying to unlock), I think the quests should be specific to each individual player.Quests like the RIS armor quest are not good, because that just encourages people to camp in one place or one area (like the old Mark of Intellect etc quests) and this ruins the spirit of the game and can get quite nasty.
I think you should only be allowed to start a quest when you reach a certain point in the game - say the equivalent of the four holocron professions.
I think that the unlocking should be like it is now - TIME versus LUCK. That is, if you get lucky, you can get it quick, but if you're not lucky (guess which I am lol) then you can still get there, but by putting in the time rather than getting lucky. And it shouldn't be monotonous time (camping or grinding) because people lose interest in the whole game that way.
It would be really cool if you employed people to be 'live' npcs that could give out quests (like the player events, but more of the time). They could move around the game, and people could have meaningful conversations with them. Some of them could 'hold court' - you could make Nym and Jabba, etc like this, and you first have to complete their theme park or equivalent in order to talk to them. This would give you a greater level of flexibility with the quests, as you could pick a wider variety of locations and activity types for the players to do.
One last comment: Whatever you do, please PLEASE PLEASE make sure you test it properly before you release it. I know the game of SWG is vast and amazingly complex, but this kind of thing is incredibly important to many of the players. Nothing is more likely to see people deserting in droves to your competitors than the belief (whether its true or not its the belief that matters) that its no longer possible (or nigh on impossible) to become a jedi any more.
Anyway, thats my thoughts, thanks for listening....
