The XP conversion rates were actually about 1/3 of what they are now, weapon xp been 10 to 1 and combat 10 to 1. Although im not sure if all the xp rates were 1/3 than what they are now. This was right at the start of the testing on the publish release. Shortly after TC2 was up with the character builders on it was uped by x3 of what they were at that time. Now this was pretty much straight away, no time what so ever to actually test the current rates to see wether they were too fast. I thought then that maybe it was just a temp thing just to make it so no TC2 player could get jedi, after all the phases circulated 3 times a day not once a week. Also it was easy to get xp with the free 85% comp or somin and free buffing and also switch around professions as you pleased. Maybe it just slipped there mind when they went live that they had rates on x3 although i would think that highly unlikely.


Why cant they just make it so the FS skills are an extension of your current skills which is basicly all they are. why does it have to take ages just to master 1 skill. They could just make it so you gain 1 skill at about the same rate as you would gain the skill for your current profession, like say getting 1 tka skill from intermediate to master would be the same as getting melee speed from 1 to 4 if not at the most double the length. Not everyone wants jedi, i wouldnt think crafters would want jedi as its not easy for them to get skills such as melee speed which has been stated by some jedi as nearly essential for when you are jedi. They will want there crafting stuff so they can make better weapons/armour than other people on there galaxy. The FS skills arnt exactly easy to get anyway. what happens if you want the assemply skill and you just missed the phase with it on, your gonner have to wait ages to get it. For people that want jedi though, the only thing that you really need is somin that is fair on everyone to slow progress down which is already there and is the phases. It wouldnt take that much longer for a casual gamer to do it than a hardcore gamer although atm it does with the crazy xp rates.


They need to face the fact that there isnt really a way they can make it so jedi is rare but also fair on everyone. The only way you can make it rare is say a player has a random chance of getting flaged when makinga characterand they can go jedi when they get to a certain point but that isnt fair and alot of people wouldnt bother playing. The system atm doesnt make jedi rare. Anyone who wants jedi will get jedi but if there is some one who wants jedi but they feel they will never get it with the current system will most likely just quit and go play some other game. Alot of people play the game for jedi, just put some system in the game were jedi are seperate to the rest of the game or at least seperate enough so they seem to be rare. Slap them on one planet and let them do there own little battle make it a safe area from anything but the oposing jedi, they can come to other planets but its dangerous and vader could come slay you, make vader a griefer.

Here is some BS ....


I got my visit etc, and was in the village prior to their friday feature.... I read all the stuff I could on how the trees and quests worked ...


I picked 4/4/4/0 combat pro and 4/0/0/0 reflexes ....


Well little did I know that ranged aiming was the ONLY tree allowed to open for me in phase 1 ... Sure I picked it and some retard will state its my fault etc.


I tried 6 tickets, 4 bugs, 5 live sessions, 2 emails, and finally PMed Thunderheart and some DEV ...


NO RESPONSE, NO HELP, NO EXPLANATIONS ..... Only Too bad for you, wait 3 weeks to start your grind and shut up. I have played since day 1 and have 2 chars on the server. ( 2 accounts )


I play as much as possible with 3 kids and a full time job ... DEVS only kiss A$$ to the kids and never help out others ... sad really that people that play often, but due to RL cannot do more, and make an error due to no guide available get F&^*ED by this company, anyhow I am borderline cancelling 2 accounts ... WoW is released NOV 15/04 and although its not starwars, it has some good points .... SOE NEEDS TO RE-VAMP CUSTOMER SERVICE BEFORE REVAMPING ANYTHING ELSE IN GAME.

combat should be 1 to 1.

Well....

After spending X amount of hours running one of the MOST boring and redundant missions I have ever done in any game I find out that I have been doing them to get Ranged Prowess (which I do not want) and not only that I cant change my mind and do another quest for THREE WEEKS and not only that, the one thing I really did want was also this phase so now I have to wait 18 WEEKS!!!!!!! for it to come back.

You know how I found this out... Not because the developers of this game put ANY kind of explanation into our game, it is because another player took the time to email out guides.... That is right, the players I guess have to do the developers jobs for them.

I have played many MMOs... DAoC, SB, Lineage, EQ etc... This is by FAR the most half ass backwards game I have ever seen.... hmmm lets fix the hologrind by.... ADDING MORE GRINDING (makes sense to me /sarcasm off) oh and while we are at it lets not put ANY kind of explanation into the dialogue the NPCs give.... ALL any of them say is that you cant do another quest until you are done with theirs....OOOOOH and here is the best part.... lets not let them do the other quests from that phase FOR 18 WEEKS!....

SWG Developers I think you all are SAD and if I was the person responsible for your jobs, I would FIRE you all and find some people that have a clue!!!... You put these ridiculous time limits on this game to keep people shelling out the 15 dollars a month to you while you FIX NOTHING IN THIS BROKEN POS GAME and fail continually to add any type of decent content.

The ONLY people not complaining are the die hard Star Wars fans who would play ANY POS that you put out (and do) but you can bet that WoW and EQII are just over the horizen and you will see DROVES of people leaving (along with me) to play games where the Developers understand how to make a game that is actually FUN to play.....

SWG DEVS get a clue... DO YOUR JOBS.... Make the game fun... would you have fun playing this crap??? probably not... As it is... Im cancelling my fighter, and as soon as WoW is release I am cancelling my other accounts....and I am sure i wont be the only one.

okay heres the deal yall... everyone the devs have made this the way everyone wanted you all got pissed at the holo grind.. so they decided to " fix " it .. to many getting jedi to fast .. as far as the numers... yes itvery well could take a year to get jedi .. a year i dont plan on paying for such a piece of **edit** game that is no longer fun ... now .. when they first started talking about making it quest based they had said it would be a year to umolock .. way back during the imp crack down.. okay .. so .. hmm lets see.. a year to unlock.. another 179.88 dolars down the drain ..... no bigie.. now.. ohh wait you mean thats if i grinded my ass off 24 7 id get it in a year ..... well the average player.. its going to take ... roughly 3 years depending on skill profesion and player interests... personaly .. the jedi are not realy what a real sw jedi would be they are cookie cutter clones .. soe **edit**ed over the star wars universe the jedi .. and its consumers... fine no biggie .. its what soe has done in all its games ( which include ...swg ever quest , ever quest omens of war, champions of norath, eq online adventures eq 2 lords of eq planetside cosmic rift infantry tanarus) so as a very unhappy customer.. i will be cancelling my swg acount and my eq acount.. since i refuse to partake in a product that the provider could care less about the customers concerns.. i have seen very good stuff come from this publish 10.. but i have seen more bad.. so unless soe and the devs fix this, im out and anyone who dont wanna wast thier money should jump ship with me ...boycott everything with a sony tag , thier tvs games playstation 2 all of it .. and go play matrix online , lord of the rings online as long as it aint soe go do it... maybe that would get soe's attention? .. whats sad.. i liked this game and i liked eq but cause of the **edit** going on with swg i will cancel my eq acount .. just so soe dont get any money out of me .. guys .. fix the bugs .. change this new grind... go to an all quest based system no exp nedded or go back to the holos... i dont realy care just do something

K, since i'm 15 i do have school to be at. ( ok im supposed to ). I looked at it for a week and i'm playing 2-3 hours a day TOPS. i unlocked my branch and i got 3 skills allready...


If u know where to train. U know how to get the max of exp out of your 2 hours. If u log in and get buffed and travel to where u need to be lets say 30 -40 min. (which it usualy is for me at least). Then in 45 min i got 900K exp plus 100K combat exp. then i start at my second skill 45 min later another 900K and 100K combat exp.


This makes a total of 1.8 mill exp and 200K combat exp. In my jedi exp this gives me 125K jedi exp. Now i allready had some exp when i entered the village so say 1.5 weeks for one branch 2 if u do it slower. This should be realistic if u only play 2 hours a day. And i still have a week to spare really so i can save some days not to train.


About the phases i finally figured out what that is for i think. Everyone will advance at the same rate even if your a hardcore gameru still have to wait. And if what i wrote up there is true(what im pretty much sure it is). Noone will have the advantage off play time a day really.


If u think this poste is cr*p. Srry then, for waisting forum space.

bugs/problems

#1.A jedi cannot trade JEDI XP for FS XP. (As far as I know FS skills cannot be revoked, and jedi who took FS skills before their descriptions were fixed (or the skills nerfed) cannot change to other more desired FS skills without grinding non-jedi xp???)


#2. Crafter grinding xp ratios for fs xp dont seem to take into consideration the time required to collect resources. While it is true that a crafter can buy resources, the volume of resources needed for an architect to get a single branch is about 20,000,000 units of resources. Other professions need about 2.4M units of resources per branch (assuming they grind for xp and not craft for production.)


#3. FS XP should be granted for FS quests. I found it oddly disturbing that the medical quest didn't grant any xp for crafting the biological drugs. no xp was granted for calibrating the components...


#4. Better documentation needed for what is required to be a jedi. If I surrender a FS skill do I loose jedi powers?

Would you care to test out a 400 year old sword to see if it's decayed to condition 0? All the prior testers have no comment. Perhaps a gun which was used in WW I and still fires with high accuracy upto 1km?

If that doesn't get you, then start reading current military specifications for combat equipment.

(I usually have more constructive posts, but I'm mostly venting in this one.)

Before I jump on the Devs' backs and pound them into submission I'd like to say that I like the village and the storyline behind it. I'm very surprised that with my new training saber i'm doing a whopping 15 pts of dmg. This with all materials that average over 975 OQ and conductivity and a successful experiemntation with my one experiment point. Things I don't like so far:

1) Village phases r too long. Why not try out two weeks and see how that goes.

2) I didn't live through this but I feel for others, xp conversion rates could be a little more favorable.

3) Whats the point of the quest journal force crystal after you defeat Mellichae? It can't be tuned. I'm wondering if there are any other types of quests that will go into the quest log? (Ok I forgot the village quests go in there too, but after that what is the crystal's point?)

4)THREE WORDS DEVS: SLUDGE PANTHER TRIAL!!!!!!! I want to go on record and say that I HATE THE DEVS MORE EVERYDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. A planet (Talus) with no wildlife! What planet do you devs live on!?! I wasted three hours and a buff and was hoping to finish the trials before reset. Idiots you all are (the devs)!!!

I have a great idea for you guys, make an instanced dev cave. See how many instances there r per server and watch the kills tally up as ppl vent their frustrations beating the crap out of you guys. I'd never leave especially of there was a Dev Death counter in my bio. In all of Talus (15 kilometers by 15 kilometers) only sludge panthers roam around Dearic, and the only wildlife is around two cities. Oops only 3 minor sludge panthers roam around Dearic!!!! You devs are all tapped in the head. Where did the realism go? Animals filling in niches in the ecosystem, every planet has one except Talus!!!!!!!!!!!!

On the door where there's a little plague that says "Development Team," replace it with one that says "Douche Bags." This crap and reading about the removal of recursive macros a few weeks ago has sent me over the edge. I actually used to like you guys.

i think celtic prince went to far, just becouse one thing is wrong, dont mean you have to start a strike. there are things in the other games that a broke too. (im glad i quit eq long time ago.) i know people will shou that they will quit to get a respance, but only stay to see what would happen. (maybe hope for the better.) (the devs are doing jtl before combat nurf so peple wont quit if the dont like it.) but besides, space is coming soon. if i get bored after that then ill quit. the deves cant expect people to play the same game for a year, much less forever. well ok, so online games do have a longer life then singleplayer games. but if your burnt out quit, if you dont make a seene, then we wont think less of you. (then there are the winers.) the last few months i was bored becouse i did it all. (all that my non uber cherictor can do.) now there is the darthimor village. the crafting quest was fun, now i have to grind a month to get the novice fs crafting box. (maybe its easer to buy the resorses insted of getting it maself, speeders are expencive.) there are poeple who just found out how hard it is to become jedi and cry, and people that say, good, make it hard, less jedi the better. i feel sorry for the devs, becouse the know they cant make everybody happy, so they go there own way, and make there own decition. (you think grinding fs exp is hard, wait until you are jedi, it dont get any easer.) whats my views of publish 10? im going to try to get the boxes to improve my master artisan/ future ship builder and get my secend cherictor. (or is it true that i cant improve my crafting anymore after master?) (and i allways thought that even if you have 125 defence you can add 20 enhanced defence sence the name of the mod is diffrant like dodge is diffrant.) im not intresseded in jedi. my friend is though, shes better at grinding then i am. yes we are paying 15 bucks to play a game thats unfinished. (maybe they should lower the price to 10 bucks.) but if a dev can keep upgrading a game then the game wont ever be finnished, untilthey burn out. (some one said that patch 10 looks good if you only been playing for a month, after a year your burnt out.) but even with its falts, isnt it still better then a few other games? is it better then ever quest? better then ultima? do you rilly think matrix and eq2 will realy be better? maybe, untill space comes out. (if you like space.) i say if your are in such a winey mood, quit and play the other games. then in october make a desition, should you come back, or is it no worth it. just dont ruin it for the rest uf use. its selfish to drag every one with you if you dont like it. maybe your afraid to be left alone. hey devs!!! need help!!! i bet theres lots of programers in the boards that would willingly help make this game better, faster!!!, you know, more help there better!!! oh, cant aford them?!! i bet they would do valenteer work!!!

your numbers are way off for the crafter grind, and by the way windmills require way less materials only takes maybe 3 hours longer with a good crafting maco. All of the jedi today had to use these macros, so stop complaining and again expecting this to take a single 3 hour grind. If you can write a macro that spits out a practice windmill every 4 seconds it should take you about maybe 10 hours. you need 17.6 million artisain crafting experience to equal the 2.25 million fs. and you can grind it right there beside the trainer.
