so those of us who have spent months doing professions will end up spending months doing those professions for NOTHING? Many peopleare in their 20+ right now, the majority of people are in their 12+, and now your gonna change it on them? So what happens to us for all of that time we invested in trying to open our slot? Now we have to find some new way and start that 8 month with no jedi process again? You removed permadeath and are putting in a new system that's great and a great step in the right direction with the new system, don't ruin it now by changing the way to get FS. If you want to make an alternative way for casual player's to get their slot then by all means, make a second method, but don't remove this one that so many people have worked and poored so much time into unless you plan on giving them the slot once you make the change.

"This process is going to take some time, so it will happen in several phases. The first phase is to make some changes (where possible) to alleviate some short term discomfort with gameplay. The second phase will be to rebuild the Jedi system to be quest-oriented; and to include the familiar elements of Force Sensitivity, Jedi-oriented quests, as well as many other elements the developers and the community feel should make up the process of becoming a Jedi. (It should also be noted that players who have put in work towards becoming a Jedi will not lose their effort. Some sort of recognition of players' efforts will be included in the new system.)"

I really REALLY wish the devs would clarify what they mean by "becoming a Jedi" particularly in this instance. Do they mean opening your FSCS or are they talking about a FSCS character working up to initiate, then padawan, etc...? Does this above paragraph mean that they are revamping the holocron 4+1 system or are they revamping the rising of an FSCS character to make it more fun and less of a lonely grind?

/agree (at a minimum - I would say lose a tier of skills each time)

No longer holding out hope, SWG will never be the game we fought so hard for, that we believed so much in. Farewell friends.

basically yes, it's a way to keep those of us looking to be a jedi to keep playing, and take more of our money, so it seems logical that they'd change the system.

now we get to play another guessing game come the next publish.

yay......

there had better be a significant bonus to all of that grinding we did, towards our jedi slot

it's a good thing i'm only on my second hlo, but god **edit**!

I have mixed emotions here.

If It beomces easier to become and maintain a Jedi then there will be a lot of them

If you dramatically increase the number of Jedi then you have to Nerf them to even up the pie.

Which spells, Lots and lots of weakling Jedi.

Is this what you want?

The quest better be hard, really hard or there will be lots of Jedi running around which really doesn't fit into the time period.

While I'm ok with these changes I think you (the devs) should focus more on the Droid Invasion, GCW revamp, etc before moving to Jedi.

See, that's the problem with that paragraph inthe Friday feature. Because we don't know exactly what the devs mean when they say "path to becoming a Jedi" we don't know if that means the holocron 4+1 system is being revamped or the way an FSCS character rises from initiate to padawan, etc... I don't think that we can jump to any conclusions about themeaning of that paragraph. A statement of clarification would be nice.

This is uter bull**edit**, i hate hologrinding and all but i just ripped apart my beautiful template of swordsmen/fencer/brawler because the 4th holocron said to go bountyhunter, and now after a month at bountyhunter im 4000 away from mastering that ( invest ). And i know some people who have done 20+ proffessions.

Okay sure ur gunna " recognize" use but to be honest I DONT WANT ANOTHER BADGE

This is great news! Before these types of changes were mentioned, being a jedi was mindless grinding killing beasts in the wilds of Endor, now the jedi will be able to venture out of his cave and PvP or hunt with a group of friends or pull out a saber in the coronet cantina just to show off. Thank you devs for listening to the community on jedi issues and responding with good news.

with the excitement of new changes coming i have to post a joke the jedi grind reminded me of-

On the first day of Boot Camp the Drill Sergeant throws some planks at the feet of the new recruits.

"Use these 2x4s to dig me a hole that is 2ft x 2ft x 2ft in dimension" says the sergeant

"Sir! wouldnt it be faster to use shovels?" says one of the recruits.

The sergeant replies. "Yes, I supose it would be, but its not my job to get a hole dug, its my job to get you tired as hell!"

congrats devs, were not tired as hell, weve got shovels now.

I'm Monroe Thanes and I approve of this message.

Still looking for clarification as to whether I need to stop hologrinding or not.

Please clarify for me:

Am I to understand that this means a quest based path to opening the FS, and not hologrinding?

I have never posted on this topic because of the"passion" with which some express their opinions. I've been playing online multi-player roleplaying games for well over a decade, and my husband and I cancelled 6 EQ accounts to play SWG as our primary game. Having spent 8 years as a QA Engineer, I know better than to rant and rave over bugs and whatnot, as I have a bit better grasp of the process. HOWEVER... when I came to find out what the process was to open the FS slot, I lost a great deal of respect for the development team. After touting roleplay and game immersion in Beta, we saw in front of us a system that was completely anti-roleplay, non-immersive, and frankly completely destructive to the professions and economy. It is now very difficult to find those who are dedicated to their professions, dedicated to making quality goods, and the prices on resources have skyrocketed due to the crafter grinding for FS. I have condemed holos as the work of some lesser demon, and gotten rid of all of mine on all of the servers I got one on because I was so repulsed by the choice, and the behavior I was seeing from others due to them. I have been praying all of this time that the team would realize what a poor choice this was and institute a quest or adventure based system as an alternative to opening the FS slot. I, as well as a number of my compatriots, are not going to sacrifice our hard work at mastering crafting professions (yes, all of which was done before the mass grinding craze once Santa dropped off the Xmas holos). But we had accepted at this point that because of our dedication to our trades, we would be passed over for our FS slots because we weren't willing to be a spamming, macroing, powergrinding holo chaser. Honestly, it was a hard slap in the face by both Sony and LucasArts.

So please... clarify for me what that statement is saying. Because if in fact it is what I think it is, I'm willing to mark the original choice up as being made hastily under pressure, and restore a great deal of respect to the team as a whole.

I can be optimistic, at least.
