Thread: Weekly Roundtable Discussion (Week Ending 2-16-04)
I'd like to see more variety to weapons. For instance: Fencers get onlyone new cert (stun baton) and only 1 weapon in their entire arsenal that has armor piercing (vibroblade). The variety of weapon "looks" is also pretty bad for them right now, the only ones that look decent are the Curved Sword and Ryykk Blade but neither one is usually prefered due to less than optimal damage output.
Other classes have similar issues, like Pistoleer, Carbineer etc. Not enough weapon choices, especially "high end" weapon choices.
It's really really simple. Take PvP and PvEitem decay penalities on insured death out of the game, period. There's no need for a hokey 'day-pass' construct specifically for the GCW. Just rip it all out. Fail to do that and youwill getfurther subsciption base erosion, and rightly so.
Beyond that...jeez, too many bugs, problems, and imbalances to count.SWG isa Dirge of Mediocrity, not "the bar" appellation Rich Vogel assigns to it in his most recent letter. But the view from the ivory tower is always more pleasing to the eye than reality, isn't it?
I just would like to add I hope the new loot revamping doesnt leave things like the better skilltapes at static dungeons. I am not going to relate the incident but I will say that trying one of these dungeons last week on yavin soured me so much and reminded me why I left EQ in the first place.
You guys need to get out of the static is good mentality and either try new ideas or implement pocket dungeons. Static maybe fine for city quest and such but for hunting in, it honestly is the worst idea in a MMORPG, and for a next gen game, it is sad that we have to use bad ideas of previous games. I think the only ones who like these static emplacements are farms for the skilltapes...
Loot alone will not cut it for "end game". I do believe we need something harder to take down than even the currenty Krayt dragons and Nightsister Elders. A large PA with lots of experienced masters only needs a small group to kill ANYTHING in this game right now. More "impossible" boss mobs should make PVE more interesting. You can't be that limited by continuity, I mean you guys already have some EU content in the game already.
How about someheavily armored, heavily resistant Yuuzhan Vongbosses or something?I'm reaching, I don't really know of those guys existed during this time frame, but you probably get my point.
You've been ignoring us for weeks. You would shut up a lot of people if you would just please address this with a few answers.
As a Master Architect, I am in favor of coloring kits that can be used by anybody to change the color of their furniture. I sell from my vendor, and having to create dozens of different types of the same piece of furniture just to have a decent selection would be incredibly annoying. Not to mention that the upcoming caps on vendors would make it impossible for anyone except high level merchants.
I don't want to spend all my time having to do custom furniture orders, or worse yet, have to run around and color everyone else's furniture with a tool only I can use.
POI Badges:
You need to take the Lost Aqualish Cave badge on Talus before the Kobala Spice Mine on Rori, if you don't you will not get the Lost Aqualish POI badge, wich is keeping you from reciving the Master Explorer (...has earned 45 Exploration Badges.)
This shouldn't be that hard to fix? Any news or info on this Thunderheart?

Thunderheart, one of the most important ongoing problems thats been around some time is Factional Base bugs. I see no mention of it being fixed in Publish 6, can we please get a status update? Yesterday friends and I checked 12 rebel player bases and 0 of 12 spawned terminals. Then we went to a rebel NPC base and the terminals were in walls or did nothing. To fight the war we need useable bases, friends are getting fedup even trying now because we spend all this time and work checking bases, organizing and preparing only to find out we cant destroy a base or flip them due to bugs. What is the status on all base bugs being fixed please?
Those are CSR and Correspondent issues and we'll be having a bunch in Pubish 6. More will be ongoing as the team addresses GCW issues.
Well, in response to it being a CSR issue I have to totally disagree. I have talked to a CSR on chat, and they say they cant do anything about in-game issues, and to submit a customer service ticket. Ok, thats fine, so I submit a ticket and I'm told that they are sorry for the inconvenience, but this is a development issue and we just have to wait. So explain to me how this is a CSR and Correspondent issue then?
I think also, if this system would be used, that you could retract your mark, too. As well as after a certain amount of time, your mark goes away if un-touched. Players could pay a fee to the system (a percentage of the reward money they have to post as well, perhaps?), which would generate a money sink. BHs would probably not take marks unless the price was right...
Players could add in a description of their marks, too. ("Known as a Master Pikeman, but not much else is known of skills beyond that", etc etc), which would let the BH know if he could handle the mark or not.
You can remove yourself from the system at any time as well, but any marks you have posted will go with you. (To prevent abuse, you have a certain amount of time before you can rejoin the system, as well as a certain amount of time you can leave it after joining. In a number of days, perhaps...)
Players should also be informed that they've been marked for a bounty via in-game mail. Maybe they could spend money to NPCs for "tip-offs" on who their hunter might be... or even who posted the bounty on them! Of course, the more you pay, the more juicy the info you get...
Plus, only one mark on one person at a time. We don't want somebody getting griefed with 20 BHs hunting them... But, you should let people post up to say, 5 marks. Hey, if they have the cash, let them spend it. =P Also, add a time limit for how often a person can be marked. (Like, if they were marked Monday, they can't be marked again until 3 days after they've been killed.) Maybe even add in a feature that if you're marked, you can't leave the system until your mark is retracted or you get killed.
The system shouldn't tell you who's participating or not, so people don't just randomly grief other players. They have to either KNOW the person is in the system, or hope they are. =P
Once the mark has been sucessfully achieved, the system would pay off the BH, and alert the person who posted the bounty that it was successfully dealt via in-game mail.
And there's my ideas for a working, viable, anti-grief BH system. I'm SURE a whole bunch of players would love to join it. =)
Maybe Thunderheart can clarify on this please. When I find a base without terminals, I first go to chat, CSR's will tell you to make a ticket...so I make a ticket. Ticket gets "standard SOE answer" or they say its a Dev issue and the bases remain bugged. My question to TH is when will this get fixed? 6 months and still broken, CSR's are not helping.....please explain.

Actually, I believe TH meant that it's an issue brought up frequently among CSRs and Correspondents, not that it's an issue that's fixed by them. Besides, correspondents are "voices" of the players for the Devs, how are they gonna fix an in-game bug?
