Thread: Publish 8: Various Gameplay Changes
Vostik wrote:
If you don't want your vehicle to be disabled then keep it repaired, simple really
They wern't talking about normal repair.Your vehicle is TEFed with you. If someone happens to run across you in transit and you are TEFed, they can shoot your speeder right out from under you... really heartwrenching when it's a not-so-easily-replaceable AV-21...
Use a MOUNT then... Vehicles are NOT obligatory and for high risk situations mounts are FAR better.
While you did say you were removing the entertainer "speed buffs," you failed to mention that you were removing the ability to get both musician and dancer buffs at the same time. As of today one must watch a dancer for 6 minutes or so, type /stopw, then watch a musician for another 6 minutes and type /stopl to get both mind and focus/willpower buffs for the full duration.
Is this an intentional nerf?
I second Grimhands idea. If the dev's are unwilling to accomdate the entire player community with 5 min wait times on starport shuttles can we at least be metLESS that half way. 8 min still seems like a defet for me but give us somthing. If not that how bout the head of the guy who thought of the 10 min wait time.

I have no problem with the difference in wait times between shuttles & starports. It'll make me use the shuttles more where i've always used starports in the past. I think it's more realistic as well, planet hops should be less frequent than a bus trip to the next town.
That said I'd really like to see a HUB system started, much in the vein that Theed seemed to want to be. There should be 2 or 3 cities that are like Theed, no wait and they should go to every planet. It doesn't have to be every Starport, just a few. These HUBs would then service all the bigger towns on all planets.Other starports in less 'urban' townswould have a selection of planets that they can go to and would include at least 1 HUB.This will guarantee no waits longer than 9 min 59 sec regardless of where you are going even if you have to change ships in Coronet (an obvious HUB location).
I would also like to add that i'm disappointed that the starports / shuttleports will no longer offer vehicle repair as an in-flight 'value-add'. It made arriving in a new place that much sweeter knowing that my ride was lubed, oiled & cleaned. Oh well, I guess now that player cities have garages i should be using them ...

I would like to hear the reasoning, if any for the nerf to dance/musician buff timers.
Was there really any need to slow the game down further?
As someone already said, say you have 2 hours of play time ahead of you, and you want to make a little cash on missions and possibly a little exp.
3-6 mins to find a doctor to buff you, assuming you are close to a city that has doctors buffing in them. Otherwise add 5-10 mins.
Say you want mind/focus/willpower buffs as well - add 3-6 mins to find a dancer/musician to buff you. Again, you probably need to know one to do it this fast.
Then add 6-8 mins for each stat.
now add 5-9 mins of waiting for a shuttle then you have the required time to get ready to play.
So somewhere between 20 and 30 mins of the 2 hours are used just getting ready. How can you possibly justify this? Ohh wait, i know!
It's because its in the spirit of the starwars universe. We all remember the thrilling 3 hours we spent watching Han Solo and Chewie, getting the Falcon ready for take off. Or the place in themovie with the 45 min long jedi meditation scene. ohh what fun it was!
And this is just for regularhunting. Don't even get me started on PVP - 20 mins tobuff my mind + time for regular buffs? Right!
It's nothing new that devs make silly gameplay decisions, but this takes the price.
