i wouldnt mind having a reward that gives a schematic for an entertainer droid, that will allow you to heal BF when it is called.

In my opinion, i think it would encourage a moreactive role for entertainers in the GCW. Although I would suggest that this reward would be a rare one. Just an idea....

I think it could be great to see again the manner entertainer buffs are done at the same time. It would be easier to do it, and less errors would happen.

Bugs with the Nalargon and the OmniBox are really boring too.

For the Quest, new songs and new instruments could be great as possible rewards.

I like the aforementioned idea of a rewarded schematic for a droid that would let me heal BF.

I would love to to go on outings with my guildmates, i know they would love to have me, and i would feel way more active in the gcw.

As it stands now, i get the feeling that "my place is in the cantina, and not too many other places." when it comes to my Guild.

Through no fault of their own either, but healings mind wounds isnt really that big of a deal in field, because my friends just have to turn around within an hour or so to come get BF healing. there was no real point for having me on the outing.

Is there anyway this could happen for us?

Th, is there any room for allowing a musician to compose his or her own songs, maybe thru use of a sound palet or something?

i think this would also make for a nice quest, and could be rewarded with a composers modual, and BF healing modual.

Ive said this before, but medics can work beyond thier base of operations (medical centers) i sure wish we (dancers and musicians)could.

Givethem two player dances - let two players join together and perform a dance! It takes two to tango you know TH.

Give them proper effects. Not a shiny disco ball that appears for 1 second and then dissapears. Give them lights, and smoke effects that last for a minute and follow their performance.

Give them music worth dancing to. The live music played by musicians is hardly dance worthy. Either put jukeboxes in the game or give musicians some more funky tunes to play!

You must listen to very crappy entertainers. I try to sound good and orginal.

Since there's not a Dev as far as the eye can see when it comes to anything regarding Entertainers, I'm crowning myself Lead Musician Developer for all the Galaxies to see. Tremble before my inability to communicate with your "new and exciting social profession." Feel the wrath of my unpredictable buffs! Quake and quiver at the stone cold silence of indifference to your problems and existence in general!

Your answer is....wait, I'm answering an Entertainer post? Pffft....time to hit the Jedi Forums! They're the only thing that matters. Oh, and Jump to Lightspeed.

OK, all joking aside, I about fell out of my chair when I saw we actually had a topic in here to discuss - though we've had no guidance or clarification on what the point of this post is. I asked for clarification in April - and yeah, now it's June with not one peep out of a Dev.

There's been no reply by any Dev on any of our questions in here, so rather than have you wait weeks to never see a reply, I thought I would at least reply with something. Given how much Entertainers have been ignored lately, I wouldn't expect anything new for Entertainers. Like, maybe think about 2005. Maybe.

It's sad but the truth. Don't get your hopes up. But hey, we're a fun and exciting new type of social profession in an MMORPG. Isn't that enough? Yeah, I don't think so, either.

OK update as it stands now.

There appear to be the beginnings of this stuff on TC now. At least in the Theed theater there is an NPC called a "theater manager." Unfortunately he seems to be borked and tells anyone who asks that "someone is already performing on stage" and to "come back later." There are also a few "nobles" standing near the dance and music trainers, you can speak to them to get a quest, unfortunately as of now it's the standard "travel 7km, play for 10 minutes, get paid bupkis that doesn't even cover shuttle fare" entertainer missions. Hopefully this is going to improve.

I think the entertainer quests/missions weren't supposed to come out until mini-publish 9.1 or 9.2. Maybe that's why there's no mention of these things that are already on Test Center in the latest version of the in testing notes (which frankly are about 99% Jedi stuff).

If a Dev happens to wander by and read any of this thread, we'd love an update on what these quests will involve, when they'll truly be available for testing, and how we can best provide feedback. Thanks!!

And now I cede the microphone back to our Almighty Music Poobah, Warryyr.

"Musicians, Dancers and possibly entertainers have a new type of quest that will be added to the game in Publish 9.Players will have to seek out a theater manager NPC and perform an audition and be judged on their performance."

How will that actually add anything in terms of longevity and player interaction to the class? It might keep us busy for a while, but after it's done, we'll still be in the same pickle we were in before, with missions that pay a pittance and no reason to go anywhere but the most populous cantinas.

When can we see missions that send us to offworld cantinas? There used to be these kinds of missionsin the game, and they worked really well in terms of getting entertainers travelling in the universe, but for some reason they got dropped after only a week. Then we were left with missions that were worse than useless - and they still haven't been fixed 9 months later.

Musician/ entertainer vision doc and development guide.

Our forum has come congested with complaints, and rightly so as we have been slighted by the devs and the playerbase. This doc is hopefully a method to give hope to us as well as the devs a way to give us what we want while remaining in their time frame. If you are posting feedback great! If your posting additions please try to keep them in line with the idea behind this or create a new post. The idea is to improve the game, our experiance and to do so in a realistic method that has the best chance of working.

GOALS:

1. To make entertaining a fun and viable play style all the time and remove the current frustraition while meeting the different needs of players.

2. To show that the basic improvments we need do not require a revamp or a casio quest but mearly a little consistant attention.

3. To bring us back to the happy go lucky type's we once were through the hope that our idea's can get listened to and remind us that mainly what we need is the basics.

ASSUMPTIONS:

It is my thoughts that this profession does not need a revamp but mearly consideration for its role in the game. While great we don't need a lot of the other flash that other professions do. What we do need is attention. When the game went live there was very little that we discussed as changes to the profession. Mainly we wanted new songs and some wanted more control over a viable income stream. The game has progress and in the end, these two still shine through. I see two main other area's that have developed as priorities as well. Band functions and *occasional content*. I think a "Hutt casino" every 1.5yrs is ok if its in depth enough but would prefer smaller aditions that are more feasable with dev resources and more often. Here is how I see that playing out...

IDEA:

Don't Spend forever on one little thing for us. Just consider us in your other revamps. For instance your going to redo smuggler. Why not include a section of that revamp that has us as information brokers to help the smugglers and BH's, artisans and /gasp the RP crowd. Its small but could add great content for us that would keep us busy for a long time to come. It would however also improve the gameplay for many on the server TONS's in fact.

If required, shelve the Hutt Casino to gain time to do the following.

1.Once per quarter add 2 new songs/ dances/ instraments (or unique sounds). From time to time instead of a new song or dance add something such as crafting effects. Be it coloring our instraments or a new effect or holo emote. Or better band control or 1 bug fix. Just add a tiny amount of depth to the professions. This would keep things fresh for us.
2. Time permiting add something bigger like the hutt casino or whatever, but with the smaller additions, we really wouldn't need this so much.
3. We really need you to return our cantina's to us. While I understand some players want afk buff bots ect you need to make room for both types of players. Currently you lump to arch enemies together which does nothing but dishearten us. There are billions of suggestions out there... Take whichever is easiest for you to do and do it. Maybe just seperate the groups ie in a theater X is required which means atk and in cantina its not ect.

WHAT WE NEED:
What we need devs is simple just time to time additions to us. We are a creative group and I for one would say that if need be lump us with politicians and rp/ events people. What else? just a little attention letting us know you have not forgoten about us and not slighting us on questions not from corespondants or not understading our questions before responding.

IN SUMMARY:
Don't think "oh god someday we need to work on the ents" Instead say how can i take what im working on and include as many professions as possible while improving the overall game (this apply's to all profs obviously not just us)

THANKS:
Thanks for all your hard work in even creating such a game for us and doing a ground breaking profession. Please now lets make it all it can be. Further Devs I hope that you read this respond to it so we can improve/ refine it and make it both useful and something you would act upon.

Is there any update on this? Any good news?

That feeling of impending doom is growing...

My alt is a M.Entertainer, M.ID, M.Musician and most of Dancer - completly entertainer. I decided to do this because 1) the "upcoming" and "exciting" Jabba Casino and 2) I like to group up with the folks from Falcon Crest and socialize.

I just can't get past the feeling that this is going to be a huge bust. Normally - I love a huge bust (yuck yuck), but seriously- this update better be good. Entertainer missions that force you to travel 11 km to get paid 200cr... what kind of crap is that? And its been like this since release. Entertainers still can't buff themselves.

SOE - I realize EQ2 is coming and you are all peeing all over yourself in giddy anticipation, but hire someone with some imagination to work on SWG. (BTW - read the sneak preview of EQ2 in PC Gamer. I have never played EQ, but EQ2 sounds like a ton of fun... especially compairing it to SWG).

Sweaty climber is right in his post... we don't need a lot, just a little content, maybe a new instument here and there...

Way back in pre-launch days, this was a big topic. There were some really great hopes and discussions. Unfortunately, there is a gray area were reality, legality and virtuality don't mix very well. You see if it was a music creation tool that was totally open-ended, players would re-create existing music that is licensced and also demand creator's rights on things they had created in game which makes it a big legal mess.

There is a lot of support for trying to make a tool that is somewhere in between a totally open ended tool and what exists now, but that would be a much longer term development item.

Two player dances is something we would very much like to see, but that is all new technology. It is something we will see at some point, but I dont know when...
