Thread: Some Info on the European Launch

Is there any estimation on when we can expect a character transfer
option to one of the new european servers? We're now in a bad situation,
since we do have no idea, if we can move our characters to an european
server anytime soon. We're two communities, two "towns" with about 60
people and need to decide what to do. If we delay the decision we risk a
split for the 3rd time (Trammel/Felucca the first, the chaotic launch of
SWG the second and now the 3rd). No need to say, that is a huge problem
for us. So shall we stay and wait, or move and start over. Not all
people might follow, if we move now, since they will speculate to
transfer their characters "anytime soon". In either way, we'll be split
again *sigh*

Please, we need an estimate!

Will future European expansions be compatible with the American version of the game or are you forcing us Europeans who bought it to buy the European game simply to remain compatible with future expansions ?

Keif,

Your right it's all my fault...

SOE and SWG are greats and didn't make any mistakes.

They sold an finished game (not a beta version)with players cities, mounts, vehicles and jedi implanted since the beginning, without a lot of bugs....

We pay 15 dollars a week for a complete 24 hours service and CSR always answer to our tickets. No tickets are deleted without reading.

Servers are great : without big ping, without lags, without exploit and we can always connect to them without any problems.

They never told us this : When European servers will be officialy online, we could transfer our european user from US servers to EU servers.

No one stop playing this wonderful game for bugs and lost of interest.

And for my brother, I'm going to put some cameras and microphones to superintend him because "mistakes" are not allowed in the human society.

And for me I haven't a lot of work in real life, I'm rich, nice and famous...

So I haven't to complain about this wonderful society and game.

Thanks to you KEIF and thanks to your incredible wisdom. You probably never make a mistake in your incredible long life.

I think Imust stop reading "1984" from George Orwell

Hello all!!
I was all up for early character transfers before I read this Post. Now I would say it is best to start the servers fresh so everybody starts at the same point. Surely this would make more sense?
I do think transfers should be allowed in the future, but only when a target amount of new characters become Masters, say 10% of all players on a particular server.
Transferring US characters into Euro servers should be done when they will integrate into the community unnoticed.
Those of you with US characters should keep playing on US servers until you are allowed onto the Euro servers.

My opinion on transfert :

1) Transfert is not dangerous for the new server, because anyway a full time powergammer can max a new character in a matter of weeks, so allowing transfer on a new server will just shortent the delay of maxed characters by a few weeks, not a big deals

2) when Ultima online openened an euro server, with no transfer, i QUITTED the game, because my friend where going to the new server, and i did not feel like starting all over My 3 high level characters on a new server, so i just QUITED the game... and went everquest... Then i left everquest because they was too much compétition for high level xp and items spots... that was not fun at all having 100 people fighting to beat on one mob...

Some people like me are going to be very attached to their characters, so we need to be able to keep it, and move it to a new european serveur to get a better ping and play with fellow peoples using the same european langage...

So in short :

- transfert will not do anything to the economy because or powergamers playing the game

- transfert will allow you to keep your customers

- transfert will allow you to build a bigger community of players for each european crountries, as there will be a mix of old player helping the new players...

- you can make additiional money to charge for transfert, because it is to important we are even ready to PAY for that

So in even shorter about transfert

- disadvantage : none

- advantage : keeping customers, better satisfaction, more revenues potential...

You need to ALLOW Transfert

Transfer on one character will all belongings on him... delete any of his constructions left on the old server.

thanks

Sorry vazkoor but I couldn't disagree with you more.

Your point on powergamers is valid, but you're forgetting that power gamers make up a very tiny % of people that actually play the game. The quantity of high level players that would move (maybe for free like in EQ)given the option will be 100's of times greater.

The mass influx of high level characters on AB in EverQuest totally killed the game for me. I spent the first month of AB's life building up a new character but as soon as the mass move started, the server became one of the highest populated instantly, and also the economy went crazy. To this day the economy on AB is still screwed when compared with other servers, and it's still one of the busiest. I left EQ because I became so sick of the level of twinking on AB. I only went back after they started a new server (KB)with no movelogs.

I don't think people realise what a high percentage of players actually come from Europe. If they only opened 1 or 2 servers and offered free transfers they would become overpopulated instantly.

Ah, my mistake. I thought I was starting an intelligent discussion with someone who had an opposing view. My mistake.

To be honest, I have played this game only a month. And I just paid for another month. And I would like to have transfers, because I live in Europe, and that why I would like to play with european people.

And I just don't have enough time to make another char. I haven't even got one good char yet. So I just guess I play this month, what I have paid and then I stop. I'll just cancel my subscription after that, too much lag and that kind of stuff. But I don't want to waste two or three months to get a good char.

So I think transfers must be allowed.

The primary argument for transfers seems to be that people don't want to start a new character and spend the time building it up again, and that seems like a valid point. But how would you feel, as a brand new player, walking into an enviroment where everyone had a head start on you? Not just in knowledge of the game, but in overall abilities as well.

When the game first launched, the beginning players depended on each other and learned from each other. The European players that will join, when the European launch comes, should have the chance to experience the same things all of you experienced. A fresh new world where no one has any advantages over anyone else and everyone climbs the evolutionary ladder together.

Granted, this means some of you will miss out on the chance of playing God in a brand new galaxy, but it would probably be in the best interest of keeping the new players.

The main reason I want a transfer is that it is just a hell of a boring and repetitive job to gring up XP. Make XPing (on any field) fun and I can live without transferring

Devs, please nerf the bugs and bug the nerfs.
But please don't nerf the bugs that bugged the nerfs or bug the nerfs that nerfed the bugs.

The first 6 months of a new servers no character should be allowed to transfer there..for all the obvious reasons. After that I see no point in why not.
