School's back in session.
Of course people have jobs and school but some people dont understand this.
I dont think they would be waisting their time with other servers if the demand was not there. They have checked this out im sure.
I think its a good idea to let them have access to our servers and the other way around too.
I just thought I'd point out what happened when SOE (who make EverQuest and SWG) released the first European server for EverQuest a few years back.
Initially they said there would be no transfers for the first 6 months. The boards were filled with people complaining so after only a month after the server was released, SOE changed their minds and allowed all European based players to transfer WITH all their equipment and cash.

European version support european typographie like the € symbol or the french éçè ?
The software is the same as the current version, the only real difference is that the paper products that ship with the game software will be in native language. Also you can now get official support.
I am all for no transfers. Period! Ever!
I have been playing on Bloodfin for quite some time now, and yes I have a character I am quite attached to, but I also have friends that have chosen to wait for the European release. Letting me hop my character across would have been like allowing the Beta Testers to keep their characters when the servers opened in the US. And I am pretty sure all of you out there who are ranting about keeping their characters now, would have been dead against any Beta Testers keeping their characters upon release.
A new server should remain exactly that .. a new server. Anyone coming from other servers to start again will already have the advantage of having played before, of knowing places, and how things work. Where to find NPCs, locations etc...
How many other europeans do you think would have signed up for the US releases had they known that they could transfer their characters across later. Hardly fair is it?
If SOE dostart transfering characters, even in the future, then it needs to be a one off, one way transfer. The character only. No Wealth, items, badges, faction or anything else.Anything morewould just totally ruin any economy that was already in place on the server you are moving to.
And has anyone spared a thought for character names? What's thechance that someone already has a character with your chosen name on the European server when you want to bring your US guy across?
If you created a character on a server, that is where that character belongs.
IISparkyII: Character names are easy to sort out. If you move to a server where there is already a character with your name, they add an "x" to the end of your name. In other words, if you're called "Dave" and there's already one of the server you wish to move to, your name will be changed to "Davex" on transfer. If this has happened to you then they usually allow you to change your name again to something more ledgible.
Well, that's what SoE did with EverQuest anyways.
A bigger problem I see is resources. If they allow you to move with all your stuff, there will be a mad mix of resources from across all servers that people have stockpiled. Could you imagine the guns a Master Weaponsmith could make with the best of each resource from each server? Madnes! The only way I can see it working is if everyone had to move across naked and broke, like with paid character transfers in other MMORPG's (like EQ).
I personally think it should be fresh with no tranfers ever. That holds much more appeal to me.

totally agree. I am a UK based player and I have been playing for about 2 months now. I am almost to where I want my character to be. I have considered making a new char on another US based server recently but I am too attached to my current char. But I still wouldn't want to trasnfere it when the euro servers come online. It just isn't right. A new server is a new server.
All the people moaning and whining should just chill out. You knew the score when you decided to buy the game in the first place. It was made VERY clear it was for the "North America ONLY!".
If you are that bothered about having to start a new character, either don't start a new character and stick to the US servers, or if you can't stand the lag, make a new charachter. It's not the end of the world.
So you paid a 1 year subscription you think that gives you the right to moan? Who's idea was it to take out a subscription for that long? Yours! You knew the game would be out over here in Europe in a few months.
I think the fact that you have been allowed to use your existing USA version of the game to start on a Euro server is more than enough.
I know for one that this Euro will be starting a new character if anything. I just hope they decide NOT to allow character trasnferes at ANY time. You can't transfere between servers at the moment, so why should you any other time?

I think I must tell you my little story about SWG and SOE.
I start a char on a recommended server, It's a big ping and lag server but It was a recommended so I though all others server have more pings and lags....More than 1 month after SOE release a patch for a bug...recommended servers was bugged the system recommend wrong servers.
So I create a new char on another server, I was close to be a Bounty Hunter, but my brother want to try the game and push the delete buttom not the create buttom (little mistake) and my char is deleted (after this soe release a patch to make harder to delete char).
I contact CSR with in-game tickets about my char deleted....no answer, they delete my post with all others tickets for updating. I re-post a ticket again....ticket not readed and deleted again...I re-re-post another ticket always no answer.
So I contact CSR by mail, they said : we are unable to restore deleted char.
During this time I play on my 1st char in the bad server with the hope than one time, I can transfer this char to another server or they restore my deleted char....
But this will never happened.....
Why should SOE be responsible for accidentaly deleted characters? If you are so bothered you should have kept more of an eye on your bro.
And all your posts claiming SOE take your money and do nothing is just plain stupid. You must have been playing for 1-2 months already to have a char that you would like to keep. So have you been playing on empty servers with nothing there? Do you think the servers come down for 2 hours a day just to be a pain? Nope, they come down to update the game and make it better.
You pay your money for a 24 hour service. How much you play is up to you.
If you didn't like the idea of starting a new character when the game came out in europe well I'm sorry but you should have just waited until it was out in Europe. I am from the UK and I knew the score when I got the game early.
I think the fact they are even considering player transferes should make you happy. But no. You all still whine and moan and feel hard done by.
When will the DEVs answer any questions here?
I would just like to know it I need a new account for the euro server and buy the game again in euro version.
Hope to hear from you soon.

A little different situation, not everybody has the chance to participate in BETA, and BETA was free ( well...except for the suckers who paid to participate..)
When I heard you were allowed to transfer your chars a few months ago I had the game imported ( I live in the Netherlands ), I paid for the time to play on the servers and develop my character, why should I lose all I've accomplished?
I want a char transfer ASAP, it shouldn't take more than 2 months. I don't mind losing all my items/money but I do want to keep my skills. I'll be a great help as a squadleader/pistoleer/medic (because I trustSOE fixes our class and adds some more value to being grouped with them soon) to newbie-groups.

TeeBee, If you have the time and the money to restart each time a new char....It's great for you.
But I haven't the time and the money to spend 3 months (or more) again to make my char.
Then stay on the US server but don't moan. You could know this should happen when you bought the game in the US.
