You could do what Asheron's does.

The content comes in with the story arc, and then stays in (for the most part). The difference is the "big bad guy" is changed (from a story point of view) so that the quest remains in, but the story goes on.

Here's a thought, if you'd like to do that:

Training Missions.

You could add an additional tab to faction terminals, or recruiter options. After the arc is over, these stories would still be available, but as historic missions used as training scenarios. Maybe even when you kill all the Storm Troopers and would get the badge, they all get up again, take their helmets off, and say, "Good work, trainee." lol

This is a great idea. I would love to be able to redo some old missions in the future.

leave the missions in. but make it so that to join the faction you have to do one of the sets to "prove" ur loyal. this would be a lot better than running brainless destroy the bounty hunter camp to become a faction member.

or as each whole arc closes it becomes available on the recuiter to "re-do" for faction point awards. but you will have to re-think the junk loot drops you need for some of the arcs.

Pex...

Would it be possible to create a framework where players could make their own story arcs? Or even have a place for people to write and submit fictional events that the developers could create using the existing systems?

I know you say that there is alot of work behind these arcs, and I believe you... but is it possible to off load some of that work to willing players that actually find it fun to contribute?

The rebel reward for COA 1 is already permanent, isn't 10% extra faction points enough for you?

10% extra Faction Points goes to the winning Faction at the end of each Act. It is not permanent, it just seems that way because we (the Rebels) win each act.

This is a great idea! Not all the arcs would necessarily work in this framework, but Act 3 could. You would have to take the Flora the schematic out, but the player could get a faction point reward for completing the training.

would it be possible to make sub-stories for story arcs that occur weekly.... something that doesnt affect the the outcome of the story arc but that is related to it.. it will help keep eveyrone looking for what to do week by week rather then month by month.... or have a weekly sub-arc that tells allows you to unlock the regular arc... /shrug... just a thought...

Any suggestions?

Here are the static spawn points for Princess Leia. You can go to any of them for your Act III quest.

I was talking content-wise. If you read my original post somewhere above, I was talking about using the story arcs to introduce new factions that you could join such as the Hutt faction or CorrSec/Rogue CorrSec. Unfortunately my quote has been taken comepletely out of context.

Since you mention the faction perks of an extra 10% of faction points for Rebels, didn't the cost of purchasing items drop a certain amount of faction for the Imperials? Also, I thought that if the Imps ever won a round of the story arc, they would get the extra 10% of faction points and the Rebels would be able to by things cheaper with faction points? I'm not sure how this ended up being implemented - with the Imperial Crackdown I've completely left the the whole Rebel/Imperial faction debacle. Maybe Pex would know.

Pex,

While I appreciate the concern that there is a lot of effort put into something that dissapears over a short period of time, monthly story arcs that actually affect the world in some way are an important part of what makes a MMORPG feel alive. Maybe it would be possible to do things that require less coding in terms of quests, but still advance a story? Like say have Darth Vader and a squad of crack Imperial Stormtroppers appearing in towns looking for Jedi for a month or Leia and Han and Luke seen in places on a mission, and adding targets people can attack or capture? I know that is probably hard programming wise, I just hate the thought of these going away.

/agree with many posts here

COA has been great, much better then many of the quests I've tried (they are mostly just a series of destroy/escort/delivery-missions).

If you could continue making Story Arcs, and make those that are finished a permanent part of the game, I'd be very happy.
