Here goes my ideas...

First think back to Luke (which is the era we are in)...He did not start off as a Jedi, he was a marksman/pilot and L8r dropped those skills in favor of Jedi...

Now personnaly I think your main should eventually become FS...possibly give the persona choice to make his Main the Jedi or create a new one...Remember that there is no formal training for Jedi so they would be starting their lives with other professions until they were approched by a Master or stumled across a Master that was willing to train them...

In order to unlock I think the quests should be difficult, but specific to each individual much like the Holos...no one toon should have the same quest or even the same objective to the quests asthe Epic quests in EverQuest...that was way too troublesome to come and look for a mob to kill or an item to loot and someone was there first or stole the kill for the loot, not to mention the fighting between players in the same group who needed the same item...GET AWAY FROM THAT PLZ!!! I BEG OF YOU!!!

What kind of quests? Now that is actually a hard one...once again regardless of your proffesion, be it combat or crafter ultimately if you are seeking the Force you will do what it takes...I have seen some interesting ideas, for instance medics keeping some downed pilots alive until help arrives...entertainers keeping a crime lord busy so a strike team can rescue prisoners, all good ideas...BUT...I don't think it should matter what you started as...maybe music for the crime boss would be your quest:

YODA

I've been thinking on the issue of having Yoda be a part of the Light side Jedi quests. In my mind it would be very possible to include him in a way that doesn't break from the storyline of the movies.

  1. He could appear as a "glowie". Not necessarily a blue glowie but he could show up as maybe a gold or whatever one the Devs and GL think is appropriate. I believe this is possiblebecause with his mastery of the force and the intense concentration he would be able to achieve in his seclusion he could focus to the point that he project his image across the stars. It would also justify a short conversation with the player, "Quick I must me, much does it take in order to speak with you."

  2. He could speak by means of a holo-communicator or on a recorded message in a holocron.

  3. Make a cut scene of a dream in which he speaks to the character.

These are a few of the ideas that could be employed to get one of Star Wars' favorite characters in the game.

A strike team is ready to leave in order to stop the Rebel boss Arula from executing 2 Imperial Operatives caught in her HQ. We know she is found of balads...we need you to infiltrate her organization and perform a concert for her...once the concert has started it will take us 20 minutes to secure the release of the prisoners...the concert must take place with in 10 in-game days...

So there is your mission, BUT oh no...you do not have any entertainer skills...do you know where balad is? Master Musician...so guess what? You have 10 in-game days to master Musician and make your way to Arulas HQand start the concert...NOW here is the kicker...what would stop someone from taking the mission...failing...continueing with the musician grind and takeing the mission again once they are master? If you fail you loose that mission...a new mission will take its place if you fail...now what is to keep ppl from refreshing missions until they get one that corrosponds with their prof? Easy...you have 10 in-game days to complete the mission...for those 10 in-game days you cannot get another mission...sure they can wait it out and not do that one...but that will also take time...which would keep the Jedi populous down for those who do not want to do the missions...

Kind of combines the Holos and a new quest system...again...personnalization will keep Arulas HQ from being a static area like the warren is...it should be much like the Act missions...specific to characters yet they are never in the same place twice...

Do all missions have to be of this type? Absolutley not, the old find me a Krayt Pearl of exquisite condition will always be a nice mission to take on...wil BHs be able to camp this? No they will not...well...not really This mission can have the Jedi wanna be attempt to buy the peral or loot it off a krayt...so it leaves content for the BH vs Jedi arena...does the BH want to camp the areas krayts spawn and risk being mauled by one? possibly...will all Jedi get this mission...no...

I challenge the Devs to be very very VERY creative with the new quest based system for seeking your FSCS...

These are just some examples and the others who have posted in this thread have also made some very nice examples...

Give me a Job and I will be more than happy to work on mission creativeness for you full time LucasArts!!!

Once again I implore you to stay away from the camping EQ epic system!!! First is is just as bad as the holo grind and second BH would have a field day killin Jedi (at least for the missions after unlocking)...give advantages and disadvantages to both the BH and the Jedi...

Also...in reguards to the current Jedi unlocking system...I think you should make this a rule...if you are on silent holo and have completed 15 profs + you holo profs...you get your FSCS as soon as the new system goes live...I mean come on...someone is working on number 29? Thats not random...thats spite...

19 profs and counting...

Morality Quest: Get a non-FS member of one faction (Imp/Rebel) to switch sides. As a Jedi/Dark Jedi, you are declared for one side. The other PC must come to you initially and be declared of the other side. That PC must earn enough faction points (feel free to assist) to become declared in your faction, and you are the one that will change the faction of that person. If you die, the mission is over (so the non-FS PC has a stake in keeping you alive). REWARD: You are given Jedi XP,faction XP, etc (the higher the initial rank of the PC in the opposing faction, the more XP you will obtain when this mission is complete -- obtaining the same rank in the new faction is not required, simply converting to the other side is). The other PC is told another path to gain the FS.

I will post more ideas when they come to me.

I Don't Remember Owning Any Droids Mission

You must infiltrate a base of your opposing faction and obtain information from a high ranking general. You know you will be searched going in for any weapons, so you must obtain a droid with a storage module and place your weapons inside (or leave your weapons at home and go in cold). The droid will be shipped to the base ahead of you (in a shipment of other droids), and you must trust your lightsaber to it. Unfortunately, the information is lost as to which droid is holding your saber, and so you must search for it in the base. (Cancelling this mission will result in losing your saber, so be sure you are willing to do this).

You arrive, with no weapons, and try to talk your way into the base (pretend you are a diplomant? defector? perform a jedi mind trick? bribe? force choke?). If you are found with a weapon, the base will be put on alert, making it close to impossible to get to the general. Once you infiltrate the base , you must find the droid that contains your lightsaber. You will encounter a number of guards that should be "dispatched" along the way. When you reach the general, somehow obtain the info (read his mind, threaten). If the general is harmed, alarms will sound and you will have to fight your way out. Give the info to the droid, who will relay the info to your side for XP.

There will be a droid control center/device, that will cause the droids to attack the base personnel at your command. Use it as a distraction to affect your escape, or join in the battle to earn more XP.

I will make this short and to the point. I think the Jedi quest idea is a horrible one. If getting Jedi is as easy as doing some quests, then there will be way too many. I feel as though this is an attempt to market the game to people by allowing them to obtain Jedi easier. The system of using holocrons and finding your hidden profession is perfect. It makes only the most dedicated and deserving people become Jedi. Please do not change the way Jedi is obtained, everything about this game is finally on track...dont screw it up.

I am sure this has probably been stated many times, and I am just too lazy to search the forums for it, so I am posting it again.

One of the things that strikes me about Jedis getting blasted from range, is that Jedi are perfectly aware of the world they live in. They are not oblivious to the fact that everyone else is using ranged weapons, they prefer to use lightsabers by choice. In doing so, a great deal of jedi combat training was devoted to being able to defend themselves from such attacks.

As we know, ingame, Jedi are all too vulnerable to ranged attacks.

While you do have saber blocking skills (which need to be improved), I was sitting here pondering a scene in which another tactic was used. Darth Vader surprised Han Solo in the Cloud City, and Han immediately started firing on him. While Vader stopped the first shot somehow (Lucas is real strong on continuity, eh? Never saw that happen in any other movie) the second thing he did was snatch the pistol away from Han with force grab.

While obviously force grab should not be allowed to steal the weapons of other players, I do feel that it should disarm them, and not allow them to re-equip the weapon for a period of time that increases with the skill of the jedi.

Jedi should get this skill at padawan, and have it give a 5 second delay on re-equip, Knight gets 10 second delay, and master 15 seconds. This should be like knockdown, where the affected player is immune to the effect for 30 seconds before it can be used again.

Also, at Padawan, you should only be able to pull a pistol out of someone's hand, knight a carbine, and master a rifle. It seems sensible to me, that the stronger you are with the force, the harder you can pull using the force. It makes sense that it would be a lot easier to pull a pistol someone is firing with one hand, than it would be to pull a rifle that someone is using both hands, and perhaps even prone with.

I think it would have to work a lot like panic shot is currently, with the additional disarm feature. Otherwise the jedi's opponent could simply equip a different weapon.

I am neithera Jedi or BH, so I may be missing a vital aspect of this idea, let me know what you guys think!

Just some thoughts. I understand that the Jedi are moving from permadeath to skill loss as a death penalty. I think thats great, So why not let players choose if they want to make a new character or not for the FS slot? I mean if your going to make the unlocking of an FS slot depend on what quests a first character completes why not let that character reap the rewards? Its not like a player has to worry about there character permadieing anymore. However a player would have to recover all skill points to start Jedi training, so the option to start a new FS character in place of there first character ( allowing an origianl character to retain all their nice professions skills) would be good. I also think paths ( in other words quests)to FS status should be solitary. I mean letsface it, at this time in the Star Wars universe to openly seek the force could easily be a death sentence if the wrong people hear about it, and who can you truly trust nowadays? But once you reach FS status I think the quest system should shift to more multicharacter quests ( like dispatching a smallcoven of nightsistersthat have been terrorizing local farmers)with a few solitary quests mixed in for good measure, I mean why would a PC jedineed the help of another PC jedito gather crystals for his lightsaber?

Many questions, have you? Yes! The quest for jedi should be varied, but I don't like the thought of grinding through several professions. You should be able to become a jedi with whatever combination of professions you like. I would think overall experience, some sheer dumb luck (Luke stumbling his way to jedi), and the choices you make certainly affect the outcome. Dynamic for each character would be the best - the last thing I would like to see is "how to be a jedi" or "jedi quests to follow" on a website.

Joebno, you're new, so maybe you don't realize that currently you DO have to grind at least 5 professions to open the FS slot. (As of now, ) 4 of them can be revealed to you by opening a holocron, and the 5th is unidentifiable (if you try to open a holo at that point, it remains silent). The current process is dynamic in that it is apparently unique (read: random) to each character you create.

SOE is currently trying to come up with a different method, after overwhelming disappointment with the grinding process, which has affected gameplay (very few people stick with mastering a profession, so it is difficult for people to find a reliable Weaponsmith/Armorsmith/Architect/Doctor/etc. -- those of you who do stick it out, I mean no offense).

My last note of advice to you, Joebno, is to stop reading the boards. Read the knowledge base in-game (Ctrl-H) instead -- full of sarcasm, discontent, anger, and frustration these boards are -- pure dark side sentiment for the game. Only bitterness will you find here, yes.

Every jedi should start out the same, padawan is basic lightsaber and force use training. Once you've graduated beyond padawan you should have choices to make your jedi unique. My suggestion break jedi into 2 skill trees: lightsaber combat, and force use. On these 2 basic trees you have 4 skill sets, each could lead to its own elite/hybrid professions each with great strength and weakness. Maybe even special quests to gain access to the more powerful forms.

For info on various forms seen in the movies click here

I think since this is a "jedi" quest it shouldnt invole any other professions but that, jedi.

Although some combat skills should be required to complete the missions until you get your lightsaber.

On the missions for the quest i think you should build up a higher midiclorean count like all the jedi's in the movies have. once you have a high enough midiclorean count, you become a jedi initiate, then use your lightsaber and gain XP and skills the same way you do with the current jedi system now. But Krayt pearls and force crystals will have to be easier to find since there will be much more jedi running around.

once you become a Jedi initiate and can become a jedi knight or a dark jedi knight, you can dodifferent missions. Dark jedi missions you can destroy villages and settler camps or, or kill things, just abuse your force powers. Light jedi knight missions maybe like transport and you have to bring someone something, but there are certain obstacles that only a jedi can overcome, obstacles that require force powers, dark jedi NPC camps.

I think that if a player dark jedi knight comes across a jedi knight who is also a player that they shouldnt be able to attack eachother, they would have to be declared to a faction still, but a jedi who isnt declared can be spotted and attacked by another jedi of the oposing faction. The jedi player would be able to see that the oter is on the opposing faction. But could only spot them if they were declared.

Yeah,But finding the NPC at all would be pretty hard. After your first quest from him and you need to find him again, a message should pop up on the screen like "You feel a tremor in the force resinating from (planet) (coordinates) then you go there and get your next quest. Everytime he/she appears and you have finished your quest you get one of those messages on your screen.
