Thread: Friday Feature Jan 23rd Jedi Revamp
I strongly disagree with removing permadeath. It's not like they are losing their FSCS slot and all the work it took to open, just reverting back to a first level initiate. Permadeath for Jedi has been the concept for the game since the beginning and everyone agreed it was a great idea.Everyone agreed permadeathwould help discourage non-roleplaying jedi from flaunting their powers. While I agree that death due to LD or server crashescould pose problems, the odds of this happening are extremely low and this is not good reason to completely remove permadeath. After all,I thought Jedi was supposed to be not only hard to attain, but also etremely hard to survive and advance as well? We already have 4444 knights under the current system and you want to make it even easier!?! Instead of caving in to whiners, why not use that energy to create more content so players will be more interested in continuing with their original character and not find themselves with nothing left to do in-game but try to become a jedi.
It's sad that the developers are so completely punking out to a bunch of crybabies.
As for the change in FSCS systems, while a quest based system would be nice, I doubt this team of developers can come up with something that would be an improvement over grinding professions. At least with the current system everyone knows theyhave a fair and equal chance to becomea jedi if they wanted too. That might not be the case if we get quests with extremely rare spawns (permacamped by those who can play the game all day) and even rarer items to collect. In short, until a new system has been EXTENSIVELY tested, dont change anything.
Devs: I started following the development of this game over two years ago. You had it RIGHT then. Make this game the way you originally visioned and you will make your playerbase very happy.
Let me here some feedback on this idea. Everyone for the most part seems all over the place on this issue. We need to find some common ground here. And this idea, at least to me. Seems like a fair trade for everyone.
I was aginist Jedi Permadeath from mobs, and bug/lag related things. But I like the idea in PvP. Because it gave flavor to the whole thing. A reason to do it in the first place, and a reason to do you best. Lets face it ALL PvP is totaly pointless, you loss nothing, save maybe a little decay or worse case faction points. And that is well nothing in the over all picture. So let me hear some feedback on this idea.
/sigh I thought it should have been like this from the beginning. I just started doing the holos and I mastered Musician, then I was working on Armor Smith when I found this out.... so all of the for nothin I defently won't get my holos done in time...
Life sucks when all my friends are jedis and I'm not
This is a great idea

I read somewhere in here an idea that I myself like. Something about Permadeath Via, another Forcer or a Bounty Hunter. This sounds like a very good fix. Keep the skill loss for creature deaths, or lag related deaths or bug related deaths, but in PvP with another Jedi, or a Bounty Hunter, have the 3 death rule apply. Also in addition to this rule, the Bounty Hunter should have a 3 death rule added to them to, 3 deaths by a Jedi character and they permadeath. That would seem like the only fair way to do Permadeath in this case.
I started to think doing away with Permadeath might be ok if the Crackdown was real.
It's not.
Not nearly as many Stormtroopers scanning as they should.
Lightsabers should defintely be considered the worst contraband anyone could posess.
We should see Imperial probots scanning all over the planets all the time.
I have not seen a single probot out in the middle of nowhere.
If Jedi get scanned it TEF'd to all Imperials and have missions generated for them on the Bounty Hunter termials.
Gaining skills needs to be extremely difficult for Jedi.
Difficult enough to discourage many Jedi from even trying.
Otherwise we will see 1,000 Master Jedi all running around with their lightsabers out light Fourth of July sprinklers.
the correct word is sparklers, not sprinklers

The only problemI see with quest oriented missions to become a jedi is that some professions are not fighting ones and they are going to have troubles doing the missions. Therefore there are going to be a lack of lets say dancers or artisans, because most people are going to be taking up some type of combat characters to be able to do these missions. (Assuming that the missions are going to be combat related)
