Thread: IC4: Path of the Jedi
In the time of the original trilogy, which is when the game takes place, the Jedi quests were solo endeavors. You didn't see Luke go to Han and say, "Get Chewie, Leia, Lando, Wedge, and the rest of the guild. I need to go to Dagobah for the next skill level quest, and having a group of 15-20 will let me knock this out in a night. Besides, the current Dagobah Wild Meat is awesome: let's load up for our Doctors to make killer buffs."
Whatever the quests are, please try to make them solo-able. In the original trilogy, the path of the Jedi was a fairly lonely one. It would really destroy the immersion to have the quests be possible only if you're backed up by your guild's doctor for buffs and heals, guild armorsmith for the 60% composite you'll need, and a squad of commados and bounty hunters to give you the heavy weapon support needed to survive.
On the other hand, please try to enforce having the aspirant go solo. If a player isn't interested in immersiveness and only cares about the final reward (like me after I get frustrated and my determination to do things the "right" way wavers), then the quest designed for a solo player would be way too easy for someone who's willing to (and allowed to) bring in a huge support crew.
one thing for these quests...dont make us guess where to go next, if it wasnt for someone telling me where to go, i would have never know where to go to get the corsec bagde/tuskin king rifle....so i would have never know how to finish. if you make us guess, then no one will become jedi until someone gets luck enought to stumble upon the right npc...at which point everyone and their brother will be jedi in a week.

Quests should have heavy dialogue! the way they are now it just seems so monotonous. There should be more detail put into the quests, quests should change depending on the things you say or do in your quests, for example if you are asked to retrieve an item for someone you could instead keep it for yourself or even give it to another npc... there could be multiple quest paths instead of just a single linear stream of quests that all end up in the exact same consequences and rewards.
also factions could have a more adverse effect, and also maybe there could be light and dark points, and the way you complete quests could bring you closer to either side of the spectrum. The way quests are now, all of them are similar to any other quest you do in the game, they just happen to be worded differently.
There could also be more categories of quests and subcategories... In an npc given destroy quest, you just have to kill the target npc by any means possible and then its done, when they say destroy the squad of stormtroopers, you should have to kill the whole squad instead of just the squad leader. With multiple targets for missions you could also make it so that in one mission you have to eliminate a bunch of npcs scattered around at different bases and waypoints.
For escort missions, first of all the npc should actually make it back to the place he has to go instead of just talking to the escortee and then running back to the mission giver for the reward... this way you could also put encounters that show up at different distances from the area you have to bring the target back to. ie: you are escorting a wounded pilot from his downed fighter, and on the way back, a squad of stormtroopers could show up, who, were sent down to check for survivors, and then they start to track you back and catch you half way to safety.
Another thing is that the size of your group should effect the mission you recieve, as well as them getting the completed mission if they were present when the quest was given out, and then help to complete the quest.
As for jedi quests, multiple paths for the quests could help determine whether the jedi is on the dark or light side, if the jedi can choose how to complete a quest the way they complete, or who they do the mission for, it would seem more realistic and fun. Especially jedi missions should last for more than a few minutes... no offense but forget about casual gaming, if in hoping to appease a casual gamer you end up making jedi quests take a few hours to complete just so someone who plays an hour a day can get jedi, you will end up with way to many jedi, and a lot of bored people after they finish every single quest in abouta day.
Well enough of my incoherent rambling... hope you like my ideas...

Well, as long as you dont have quests that say "You must master architech to continue on the path of the jedi" Im all for it..
Maybe some quests will have you dueling specific npcs, like you talk to them duel them, And the lowest there health can get to is 1. Then they give you quests.... Cuase you proved your self worthy.
