In the time of the original trilogy, which is when the game takes place, the Jedi quests were solo endeavors. You didn't see Luke go to Han and say, "Get Chewie, Leia, Lando, Wedge, and the rest of the guild. I need to go to Dagobah for the next skill level quest, and having a group of 15-20 will let me knock this out in a night. Besides, the current Dagobah Wild Meat is awesome: let's load up for our Doctors to make killer buffs."

Whatever the quests are, please try to make them solo-able. In the original trilogy, the path of the Jedi was a fairly lonely one. It would really destroy the immersion to have the quests be possible only if you're backed up by your guild's doctor for buffs and heals, guild armorsmith for the 60% composite you'll need, and a squad of commados and bounty hunters to give you the heavy weapon support needed to survive.

On the other hand, please try to enforce having the aspirant go solo. If a player isn't interested in immersiveness and only cares about the final reward (like me after I get frustrated and my determination to do things the "right" way wavers), then the quest designed for a solo player would be way too easy for someone who's willing to (and allowed to) bring in a huge support crew.

one thing for these quests...dont make us guess where to go next, if it wasnt for someone telling me where to go, i would have never know where to go to get the corsec bagde/tuskin king rifle....so i would have never know how to finish. if you make us guess, then no one will become jedi until someone gets luck enought to stumble upon the right npc...at which point everyone and their brother will be jedi in a week.

I havn't read every post, just way to many to go through.

So if this has been mentioned, I apologize.

One way to keep the Jedi population down is if you fail a

quest mission you start over. When you go to talk to the

Jedi Trainer, and he gives your a mission. Let just enter a

number of missions you have to sucessfully complete before

the next Jedi lvl, I'll say100 missions. So let's say you successfully

completed99 missions and you are on your last mission before

you are able to go up one lvl, At the 100th mission you go out and fail it

you return to the start, the missions would be random.

When you get to Jedi Padawan. Of course you would get different missions

and wouldn't get to the next lvl until you completed all mission for the Jedi Padawan slot.

If you failed any of these missions for Jedi Padawan, you wouldn't start from the beginning.

You would only start from the beginning of the Padawan slot. So on and so on for each Jedi lvl.

The one thing this type of system would do, is teach the player patients.

If you don't understand something, please ask and I'll try to explain it.

Here goes my own little input in things,

I do not have a FSCS of my own yet. I have not gone through the mindless grinding currently required for the opportunity to be a Force-Sensitive being.

I would like to see the progression of obtaining a Jedi to bea little easier, or even more specific at the end. I thinksuggestingapath to get people to experience different and random aspect of the game is a good thing. However, some want the challenge of being a Jedi. The best way to control the progress of a Jedi is by recording what he/she has accomplished. The long term fact is that notmanywill be able to stay the course of the righteous Jedi and most want to become one of the Good Guys. The best thing to do is to provide the necessary environment for promoting or disciplining those who wish to walk the path. Most people probably could not deal with hardship associated witha light-side Jedi. The difficult part should not be unlocking the FSCS. The focus should be how hard it is to be a Light-side Jedi and why many falls to the dark-side for it's quicker self-gratification.

Light-side Jedi should have to be mindful of the powers they employ. They should show compassion and mercyto all creatures when possible, since they are only allowed to defend themselves when pressed. Active attacking by a Light-side Jedi should therefore earn them demerit points which will require some form of merits earned to atone. Employing offensive powers like Force-Lightning or Force-Choke should also earn demerit points for the desparate Jedi. Call it Humanity if you have to, but a Jedi should only be able to move up their progression by being disciplined and restrained in their use ofabundant power. Emergencies should be handled as that to ensure self-preservation, but a Jedi who wantonly uses their offensive force abilities to cause harm should not deserve to walk the Path of Light. The current system of Jedi combat training is in a sense anathema to the spirit of a Light Jedi. I propose allowing Droid Engineers to make those practice droids like those practiced on by Luke for the young Jedi of the game to gain Lightsaber combat experience. More experienced Jedi should practice on more difficult/advanced droids. Perhaps allowing Droid Engineers to make the basic creation, and allow the Jedi to modify the droid to suite their purpose.Personal enhancementsForce-Run, Force-Heal, Force-Heal Battle Fatigue, Force-Jump, Force-Agility, etc should be where a young Jedi should start with their Jedi progress. These force enhancementshould be slow toaccumulate in, but also provideless visibilityto attract Bounty on these passive Jedi, unless they strain themselves.

Dark-side Jedi should be mindful of asserting their hatred.Their progress on the Dark Path should be much faster as described. It is easily done by simplying allowing them to earn merit points by causing harm and destruction. Incapacitated NPC should have a radial menu for Killing Blow to earn them some extra points of Dark-side merit points. They should be opposite of Light-side Jedi. Crippling opponents without killing/torture or a long termscheme should be viewed poorly, earning them penalties on the Dark Path. They can also practice combat on droids; but without the conscience restrain of the Jedi Code, they may practice on other living beings with impunity, save the bounty it brings to their head. Also, unlike their Light-side counterpart....the Dark-side allowsits followers to advancetheir Jedi XP through Force-Throw, Force-Knockdown, Mindblast, etc, in addition to other Force enhancement powers.

Now for future progress, I would like to see different Jedi professions. Jedi Healer and JediDiplomat comes to mind. Perhaps a Master Jedi Healer can heal more and fasterwith little/no effortthan any other professions while retaining only a Padawan's ability in combat skill. A JediDiplomat may be able to combine and enhance the normal Politician profession, and retain a Jedi knight's Ability in the Force and in Combat.Jedi Investigator which include Jedi Knightabilities with thingslike Investigation &Tracking.Jedi Master(1)which wields the dual-bladed lightsabers. Jedi Master(2) which dual-wields two different lightsabers. Jedi Master(3) which wields a single Light-saber. Just as Mace Windu is different to Yoda fromObi Wan, I would hope there are more differences to the final Jedi character at the final stages of progress. Below kinda ties into this paragraph.

Jedi should get a limited amount of skill points. Luke and Anakin CLEARLY had other skills. This will also fix the title, or lack of title problem that plagues us. 50 skill points would be great. (PS, I am borrowing someone else's idea here). Perhaps not enough to branch out from the Jedi path since a Jedi does commit themselves to the Path, they can learn other skills similar to normal professions within the Jedi branch. Example: Piloting, Investigation, Jedi crafting, Tracking,

Jedi quests should come in mail form, and give random attachments which details missions for the aspiring Jedi. They may accept or decline depending on their outlook. The acceptance or refusal of the missions should adjust the Jedi's Light/Dark side outlook slightly, but not enough to hurt them on the short term.Deleting of the mail should be judged as a refusal by default. Of course, too much refusal by a light-side Jedi to assist a suffering mother may cause serious setbacks to the Light-side progess. Conversely, it may help the Dark-side gain a further advantage in their path to power. There should also be random mails with attachments to give current position of a Jedi mentor to the the Jedi on the move. It should be accomplishable like the current mission system.

Jedi should be able tosense the impending danger of an approaching BH or BH droid. This is true to the films. BH's that get automatic surprise and automatic first shot is simply unacceptable. (PS, I am borrowing someone else's idea here) IMO, overtly hostle BH or BH droids should start to flash red on the radar. If a Jedi is too busy concentrating on other things and missed their awareness of it, they can only blame themselves for being oblivious and the BH should have surprise on them.

Jedi are a FORCED PvP class, yettheir defenses are NOTHING compared to other elite melee or combat classes. Sabers should be able to block ranged and melee attacks. (PS, I am borrowing someone else's idea here). My idea is that Jedi should be able to enhance their defense through the use of the Force, but this enhanced defenses should prevent Jedi characters from wearing armor since it would be too restrictive in their higher reactive state. If the lightsaber damage is adjusted to be more consistant with source examples, then their lesser defense should be off set by a quickly diminished number of foes. But I do agree that there should be a chance of energy deflection or blocking by Lightsabers. Melee attacks should cause serious damage to the opponent's weapon during the course of combat, especially if there were successful blocks and parries by mundane weapons. If a Jedi melees an opponent with a range weapon, they should also seriously damage the range weapon as the opponent attempts to block. This should make melee attacks much less appealing against a Jedi.

Light sabersshould be their owndamage type or be given Energy AP3, to match their unique properties. There should be no defense except by the forgotten Jedi Armor from the time fo the Sith War. The Jedi had forsaked the armor in their plegde as a peaceful group. Knowledge of it is lost and should not be brought back for Player Characters.Lightsabers should not decay normally since there is no wear to the item. Only things like disarming shots or weapon break manuvers should cause them to bedamage and reduce condition. PC death should cause the weapon to be lost as they are confiscated or looted by the killer as trophies or bounty.

Special defenses or Force powers should be added to reduce the vulnerability of Jedi to Dizzy/Knock down attacks. Perhaps an athletic ability to recover from these at the expense of action points.

Crystals should be easier to come by for Jedi characters. (PS, I am borrowing someone else's idea here) They should be specifically altered to Adegan crystals harvestable by either missions or survey tools, and drops. Krayt Pearls should be removed as a component. The Crystals, once located, are found in such small amounts that they can only be sampled by hand. The amounts would register to a harvestor as too low density for an extractor to be used. Dark Jedi Master should be able to learn the skill of making Kellian Crystall.Adegan Crystals are classified contraband. Any time this type of Crystal is placed on a Bazaar or Vendor, you would recieve a friendly 'visit' from Imperial troops, and the illegal gems are confiscated. If people must trade the small amounts they find, and I know they will, it will have to be by hand.

Thank you for your time,

Mirage

oops sry, i thought the title "path of the jedi" would concern jedis only - obviously this thread would have been better named "path to become a jedi"

Quests should have heavy dialogue! the way they are now it just seems so monotonous. There should be more detail put into the quests, quests should change depending on the things you say or do in your quests, for example if you are asked to retrieve an item for someone you could instead keep it for yourself or even give it to another npc... there could be multiple quest paths instead of just a single linear stream of quests that all end up in the exact same consequences and rewards.

also factions could have a more adverse effect, and also maybe there could be light and dark points, and the way you complete quests could bring you closer to either side of the spectrum. The way quests are now, all of them are similar to any other quest you do in the game, they just happen to be worded differently.

There could also be more categories of quests and subcategories... In an npc given destroy quest, you just have to kill the target npc by any means possible and then its done, when they say destroy the squad of stormtroopers, you should have to kill the whole squad instead of just the squad leader. With multiple targets for missions you could also make it so that in one mission you have to eliminate a bunch of npcs scattered around at different bases and waypoints.

For escort missions, first of all the npc should actually make it back to the place he has to go instead of just talking to the escortee and then running back to the mission giver for the reward... this way you could also put encounters that show up at different distances from the area you have to bring the target back to. ie: you are escorting a wounded pilot from his downed fighter, and on the way back, a squad of stormtroopers could show up, who, were sent down to check for survivors, and then they start to track you back and catch you half way to safety.

Another thing is that the size of your group should effect the mission you recieve, as well as them getting the completed mission if they were present when the quest was given out, and then help to complete the quest.

As for jedi quests, multiple paths for the quests could help determine whether the jedi is on the dark or light side, if the jedi can choose how to complete a quest the way they complete, or who they do the mission for, it would seem more realistic and fun. Especially jedi missions should last for more than a few minutes... no offense but forget about casual gaming, if in hoping to appease a casual gamer you end up making jedi quests take a few hours to complete just so someone who plays an hour a day can get jedi, you will end up with way to many jedi, and a lot of bored people after they finish every single quest in abouta day.

Well enough of my incoherent rambling... hope you like my ideas...

Well, as long as you dont have quests that say "You must master architech to continue on the path of the jedi" Im all for it..

Maybe some quests will have you dueling specific npcs, like you talk to them duel them, And the lowest there health can get to is 1. Then they give you quests.... Cuase you proved your self worthy.

Jedi should not have to wear armor, period, for any reason... including pvp.. i mean come'on ....

star wars is about the look, feel , story, and interaction of every race and person.... not .. Hey look here comes the Red Composite Jedi Brigade

thats just ridiculous IMO

give jedi resists (as one rises in the jedi ranks) or something to offset having to wear the same thing every friggin person has to in order to survive

i wanna make another fact most of u say that by doing what the devs are tryin to do wit this system is wrong because everyone will want to be a jedi when in fact that is wrong because most of the people playing this game dont even wanna be jedis and the play just for fun so even if they do use this new system in which i really hope they do there will probably be affair amount if not so what its a game let the people have fun with a jedi character
