Thread: AT-ST changes on Test Center
If you cant get to kill the rebels because you keep getting jumped by Kunga's and Lizards and other Creatures how are you suppose to use your AT ST to do missions for the empire ? If you think that every joshouldnt be able to have a AT-ST use rank as a handicap. My AT-ST will attack Kunga s and Lizards sometimes when i get attacked and sometimes just watch me get owned. The Guard action seems to work 50/50 if you dont want the AT ST to be used to attack it should at least be able to defend its owner. I know that people could exploite this by just getting attacked then running off but a AT ST are tools of the empire and being a overt member with enough faction you should be able to use a AT-ST to its fullest. I dont enjoy the changes that have been made. To the people who claim that any Imp that uses a AT ST doesnt have any real PvP skills you are wrong. If you attack you should nt cry whenyou get slapped by a iron fist. Theempire is out numbered but has moneyand suppiles at its disposal. We are the Haves and you are the Have nots thats what you are rebeling against.I would have better PvP skills and no needof an AT ST if the Dervs didnt find joy in making one become a Master Image Designer to become enlightend. I now need the AT ST to be a declared member of the Imp instead of a covert coward. Enjoy the game.
Rhagnall ex Master Marksmen , now Master Image desginer, on my way to being Master Creature handler. Love those holocrons.
With the ratio of rebels to imps i feel these AT-ST nerfs are just ways to make your larger subscriber base happy. There will NEVER EVER be an even ratio, almost every new player i see goes rebel, its rediculous. OOH they win in the end. But if you think about it, they only won because they killed the emperor, other than that, the empire had a choke hold on the rebellion.
Theres no "balance" in the way the AT-STs were nerfed, not with the current ratio. Now, i dont mind them not being able to be used for non faction purposes, but really, some guy runs up to your AT-ST and starts hitting it with his fists... how much actual damage could that actually do?!?!
Seriously,
Release the overt stats now for the last week please. Even with vacation the averages should be applicable. Let's see those overt stats now.
Cafa Asia
ATST:
Devs make this a vehicle, make it rank dependant, give it the original stats it had, when it dies the player dies. No issues no complaints and no problems, get your crap together and fix this **edit** game already!
The pvp in this game sucks, and it has nothing to do with the ATST, and I won't even mention the ability to duplicate atsts and leave npc ats walking around, that is the lamest thing I have ever seen. This PvP needs some major major work, finally got the creature handler balanced? thats great how about the other 20 + character classes in the game, when are you gonna start getting this game back in line and getting it to the point it needs to be.
When is the space expansion coming out? I hope not anytime soon cause it will destroy and already bug filled and completely worthless game. FIX THE **edit** GAME ALREADY!
This is my opinion and my main is a rebel, I could really care less if you give the imperials a frickin star destroyer, why do the rebels not have a single fricking thing!!!!! No special rebel armor, no special force wielding super npcs, no wookie brawlers, nothing not a fricking thing!!!!
Of greater concern, perhaps, is going to be the dramatic increase in the number of part-time CHs again; all-but-guarenteed with the latest round of the ATST nerf bat. However, isnt this PRECISELY WHAT THEY WHERE TRYING TO PREVENT IN THE FIRST PLACE, THAT IS, AN INCREASE IN THE NUMBER OF PART-TIME CHs?
I highly doubt an even larger CH population is what anyone really wants. WOOHOO! Let the P0kemon wars begin!
I absolutly HATE what the developer have done with the ATST's and CH in general..I have changed from my primary char beig my BH to my Architech. and unless the developers get their act together I will be leaving very soon. ATST's and soldiers are not pets, If you have the points you shoud be able to have at lease 3 if not 5 out at once. the ATST should have great armor and be resistant to all dots. armor piercing weapons should be the only things to get to them or a leg lasso move by several like in the movie. And should not be perma death. If I have the money I should be able to haul the pieces to a good weapons systems specialist or repair Depot and pay to have the thing overhauled ( 2 days time & 100k ) I should be able to upgrade and change weapons and like I have said before I should be able to climb in the thing.
Rebels need to have combat droids or black market atst's ATAT's etc.. if I were forming a rebelion I certainly would not be using sling shots against the IMP's equipment, I'd build, buy, steal my own!
Combat droids need to be added as well!
ALL Requestioned Equipment should be faction only but any "Black Market" purchased equipment should be used for all forms of play.
Stop taking things away and start using your imigination to creat new things to keep us all interested or you are signing your own pink slips!
For the first time i'm really deceived by dev ideas.
Even for human, 9450fp are not easy to get. Someone spending his time to buy a ATST and being a predefined rank must be able to decide when and how to use its ATST.
If not, are you meaning the imperial player in game is considered too stupid to decide when and how to use his machine?
Open your eyes, the ATST suffers DOT (which is so stupid, try to burn a tank in real life and you'll see), steals FP and XP to user, cannot attack mobs, cannot attack aggros alse than rebels, don't PVP.
Well I want to be able to exchange my ATST for 9450fp because you made it 90% useless.
Let me remind you this: the empire is not only fighting the rebels in StarWars, the empire attack any opponent at their doors. Wake up!
You have got to be kidding. How in the world can you consider mechanized armor in the same category as "pets" in terms of living, breathing creatures. It appears as if the individuals who are developing the requirements for how AT-STs are utilized and the abilities of these AT-STshave little or no real military abilities and/or training. AT-STs are mechanized armor - or atlease, mechanized infantry. They are not "pets" as a Rancor or a Kimogilla might be. They are weapons platforms -a crew served weaponplatform to be specific.
AT-STs should remain a faction perk, but should be considered in the same category as factioned weapons. The AT-ST is a weapons platform. If any limitation should be placed on the number of AT-STs, it should be related to a combat profession, not something like a Creature Handler. Where in the Star Wars Universe have you seen "creature handlers" in the GCW. Not in the Imperial Forces.... maybe in the Rebel Forces. It is more reasonable to assume that limitations to the number of AT-STs an Imperial player may utilize at any given time should be related to his ability "command" multiple "forces" be they mechanized or infantry. Squad Leader is a profession designed to enable a player to command player characters in combat. Perhaps the same profession or a new profession for mech forces should be developed or better yet, perhaps a progressive "skill" be added to existing combat related professions which "certify" a player to command mechanized forces and/or infantry forces and that the progression relate to the number of forces that player could command at any given time. Please stop thinking in like a civilian and instead consider the AT-ST as a military professional would. Having close to twenty years experience in the combat arms (USMC) I believe I speak with some authority on this subject.
Second is the consideration of the AT-ST armor. Please think of this in terms of realism and practicality. It should be absolutely impossible for certain character classes and/or certain weapons to be able to harm an armored vehicle. As an example... there should be absolutely no way a TKM could cause any damage to an AT-ST... likewise the only way a weapons system that delivers a flame as it's debilitating agent could damage an AT-ST would be that the temperature of the flame generated by the weapon system would have to be greater than the heat resist of the armor employed. In other words... if the AT-ST were armored with steel, than a commando's flame thrower would have to generate enough heat to damage steel. Likely? Doubtfull. Because it is not only the temperature but the temperature over time that would make a difference.
Lets get this weapons platform back on track.... and lets fix the number of other "faction pets" a player can use while your at it.

Superbly stated! The sad part is that it doesn't seem to matter how eloquently we protest these "nerfs", because they continuously go through. Your argument has been stated by myself and MANY others almost exactly. Falls on deaf ears because of the fact that a "majority" of the players wanted it... and in this case a majority of the players also happen to be rebels. SOE likes all the cash coming in from them and intends to keep that happening, so they bend over backwards to make them happy.
My only hope is this supposed "boost" the empire is supposed to receive soon... yea right, I'm not holding my breath. Even if we do get some kind of boost to fight the war, it won't be long till the nerf bat strikes back...
Sorry to be so jaded, but it's happened time and again.
... oh forgot to add this before the flames hit me.
I do own an AT-ST, have owned 2 total. I never hunted holos with it, never hid behind it on missions and let it do all the work for me, neverused it to solo high end content, and never felt worse than losing 9k faction pts in less than 30 seconds; after the first nerf hit. I don't think it should be invincible, but it should be repairable(woundwise). To be honest, I wouldn't be so distressed about the nerfs if they just lowered the cost of them to something reasonable. If they did that, I think we'd see them being used more to PvP because the sting of losing them would be reduced considerably.
okay, now flame away "majority"
The issue is not whether or not a commando should be able to take out AT-STs better than other professions, the issue is the weapon being used to take out AT-STs. Flamethrowers? Give me a break! Even if AT-STs were constructed with composites instead of metal, I am certain that Imperial design engineers would have utilized a composite that had a thermodynamic resistance equal to if not better than an old fashioned metal like steel. How are armored vehicles destroyed in R/L? Simple, with some sort of heavy weapon that fires a shaped projectile with enough force to penetrate the vehicle's armor killing it's occupants and destroying it's ability to function through a combination of massive concussion and extreme temperature. Hasnt anyone ever heard of vaporifics?
It appears that neither the Devs or people like you have the technical knowledge or practical experience in the use and performance of combat systems to be qualified to state any opinion regarding how an AT-ST should be/could be destroyed in combat.
Even in the Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight and Jedi Outcast, Kyle Katarn had a heck of a time taking out AT-STs with Rockets, Missiles, and even his light-saber.... forget about real life arguments... how about continuity with the rest of the SW universe?
I'm not sure if your suggesting that an AT-ST cannot be burned, but in case you are:
AT-ST's are Manned Machines. Like any other manned machine, they are only as tough as the person inside (imagine being in an amored car and being soaked with Napalm). Deseases, poisons, etc. might not effect you due to, I dunno, air filters or something. Not to mention, they are huge metal boxes, and within those boxes, sensitive electronics. Metal box + Heat = Oven. Which also takes one back to the Imperial dude inside... (anyone else smell roast PIG??) So as you can see, manned or not, they are susceptibleto fire, like everything else in the Natural World.
Thank the Gods for nerfing the AT-ST's. They were, and are, rediculous... But I'll take an AT-ST over the cries of an Imperial that's lost the ability to use one anyday.
