I was invited to join the Dark Enclave to test the FRS system today, and had a lot of fun. Thanks to Dev/QA for this, especially since my trials were bugged, I would have had no chance otherwise. On to the questions....



  • Are you able to make enough to qualify a new rank? Not at the moment, see statements below.

  • Can you maintain the experience that you earn, or is it lost too quickly in pvp, etc.- Maintaining the experience is very difficult, I do not see how a higher ranked Jedi in the current system will be able to gain FRS XP unless they have a large number of solo kills per day. The combination of low saber damage and high defenses will limit the possibility of gaining these amounts of XP in one day.

  • Do the daily experience costs and costs for missing a vote seem reasonable? When accessing the voting terminals, the entire area of the Enclave would lag, and everyone would scream and ask "Who touched the terminals??"

  • If you lose too much experience, you lose a rank. Do the thresholds feel okay? I did not take note of the amount of XP lost when I had died, so I cannot answer this question.

  • Is the demotion setting up everything properly (your skills are correct, the enclave shows you at the proper rank)? Not sure how this system works

  • Does the demotion work even if you aren’t on-line? Again, not sure how this works yet.


Assisted in about 15-30 kills of Light Jedi today, and died once. At one point during the day I had gained 900 FRS points, but due to the decay of 50 points per hour, along with the one death, I ended up losing more FRS points than I had gained. The low FRS XP may be due to the large amount of people joining the Enclaves, thanks to the Devs/QA. Everyone has a similar PVP rating, which would explain the low amount of XP gained from a "Kill".


A few things/questions I thought of in my first day of testing the FRS/Enclave system:


  • Outposts on Yavin will be camped by one side or another. Even with the 60 second timer, you will be chased after calling your bike, and it will be attacked/disabled if the timer passes and you are still in range.

  • Enclave chat system is desperately needed....nuff said.

  • Enclave voting is "Not available" for any ranks

  • Accessing the Enclave terminals lags out the entire area

  • Detailed explanation of how the voting system works along with some sort of a walkthrough for the voting/challenge terminals is needed. Everyone running around and asking questions that nobody can answer.

  • Robe stats? Are there hidden stats on the robes for different ranks, or are they all the same?

  • Jedi grouped withBH's using Fast Blast and TKMs using Combo Hit to bypass Force Armor and Jedi Toughness. Not pointing the finger, bothsides are guilty of using these bugs to their advantage.

  • The combination of low saber damage and the strength of shields/toughness ensures a very long fight.One fight between two Master Defender Jedi will last until both are depleted of Force Power, and determined by either whose shield drops first, or if one Jedi's regen is broken.

We all know the system has great potentialbut still needs a lot of work. Thanks againforallowing us to play on TC2 to find bugs and break things.

i saw a dark jedi enforcer owning 4 light jedi. it took7 of them to do any real damage. she ran and lived. looks like the damage modifiers are working.

not exactly FRS, but when i was testing MBH, whenever i killed someone I got a system message that my combat rating has gone up... this is definetly new... think i started at 1200?each time i got db'd (by anyone) it would go down. This FRS might be wearing off into other professions...

The question is: what about the rest of the players? We have people that work, people that have families, etc... I think that a truly fair system should be designed around the "normal" player instead of the exception.



What makes you think you have the right to give 90% of your life to other pursuits and still be at the top of this one?

Someone that goes into business and says 'ah, I don't want (or can't) put more than 3 hours a day into this' isn't going to expect to make more money than someone who works at it 20 hours a day. So why do you think a MMORPG should be any different?


You should get out of the system what you put into the system. And if you can't put squat into the system, don't expect squat out of it.

The problem is that the gained XP is scaled to the damage you do and a Jedi just doesn't do any damage. The BHs and TKAs use the bugged moves and do all the damage and you only get 1 or 2 counting hits in and so you gain nothing at all.

@JustG: So, wehave done some more testing in the rank system or lets say better we tried to, but:

- terminals are broken so far, QA member told us.
- when somebody uses any of the terminals in the dark enclave a big lag will occure preventing any action for sometimes more then 40sec, kicking some players out of game.
- we even asked a QA member who was there for some time, to unbuff us and restore force per tell, because even when he fixes the regeneration rate it will brake within 2 min. again.
We tested PvP one on one:
- force wielder especially master will be able to kill other Jedi. this mainly because either damage output of saber is too high or defenses are too high. I wonder which will be fixed, since lowering defenses will make Jedi at the rank system very much more vulnarable to non force players.

gaining XP for rank system is mainly impossible because:
- 1 on 1 vs light Jedi is impossible for the same reasons as above, especially buffed.
- "normal" players wiull give only 50XP, while I for my part loose 900 pretty often. (I understand tthis is due to the faster cycle). since TKA and MBH usually use the scatter moves it is hard to kill them, especially if they group. The TEF giving system that works on live also works on TC2 (only one member in group needs to be overt. when I attack him all group members will be able to attack me)

conclusion:

so far I see no reall way not only to advance but even to maintain my rank.

Jedi will only gain FRS points from killing other Jedi, Light or Dark. You cannot gain force ranking by killing non-Force sensitive players.



This contradicts what others are saying here in this thread. You get 50xp for non-force players like BH. Also others are saying you can kill overt members of the opposing faction for xp.

Ok, the ranking system is severely broken. I just lost 80,000 force rank experience from one death. Instead of being 20k off Rank 6, I'm now 20k off Rank 5. This is rather... wierd.

if someone wants to hold a position, he still can with your actual system.

You should add a cap of ranking exp to avoid that.

Currently we loosing FRS exp every hour, so its realy hard to advance with this exp loss rate.

Also i dont see any Enchachments while i amadvancing to newrank. Is it possible to get list of what we should get with rank? Stats add's? Defense? Faster Force power Regeneration.

Currently we only getting new robes, cant see any other changes with Lightside Rank's.


Another problem is Voting if you have many freind's or even guild which Members of Enclave its easy to push out peoples from rank's, i dont realy think someone will vote for players who deserve it. you just need to keep your guild on Highest rank's. Something should be Changed on Lightside FRS to prevent it, or Voting just must be removed.

From playing quite a bit yesterday, better impressions....


The FRS needs work.



It appears that even after killing 40+ Lightside Jedi and perhaps 30+ Rebels... I never advanced in the FRS (I would only slip away in my ranks).


I finally received a message (immediately after killing a Nightsister) that I had been removed from the system?


Also, it appears that killing some players may negatively affect your ranking?



Will everyone be forced to hang-out at the opposite member's enclaves to camp the other sides Jedi?


Will guildsstack fights so they can advance their members?




FRS is very convoluted and frustrating.
