Thread: Weekly Roundtable Discussion (Week Ending 4-12-04)

My comments are about the degradation of the game play over the last week. Auto storing of pets for creature handler, unable to store bike only to have it pop out from under you eventually, NPC quest/mission appearing inside buildings and not able to finish mission, creatures vanishing in the middle of battle, high miss ratio, NPCs with odd pathing problems, and the list goes on. Over the last week and worst of all over the weekend all of this was going on. Any chance on telling everyone when stability will come back?

Unfortunately I can’t edit in these Dev threads so when I make frustrated posts I can’t go back and fix them when I cool off later.

Are we going to see some updates on some more of the issues from the Publish 7 Feedback threads soon?

Im tired of the game overall. It is getting horrible. The combat system is horrible, but the devs do nothing about it. Test Center would be over joyed to have it move in. It isnt much of a test center since we HAVNT BEEN ABLE TO TEST ANYTHING. Space Expansion is getting more focus than any profession is,

BH/Jedi/World interaction is busted.

The Promised death mark system promised at least 4 months ago promising player bounties for failing missions and stuff has never been mentioned since.

Im tired of there being no droids in a droid filled universe

The uselessness of mounts is rididculous. If they are going to be in, and took as much effort as it was said, make them useful.

Give us loot drops again of use. I killed hundreds of BH marks, all red con (please remember that red cons ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE SOLOABLE) and never recieved a dang thing of use.

Economy is messed up to hell and back. Exploiting is rampant, CSR's rude, and other simple yet ignore things like languages is depressing.

Number of players leaving is ridiculous. I know personaly 22 peoiple who have left the game. This is bad.

Personaly, i'd be more happy if the devs would reset the servers back to an untouched state where no one has house/money/equipment, let us keep our skills, and redo the worlds. Thtat would at least let people feel they are accopmplishing somehting.

That's it. I would leave if my pride would let me. But that's it. This game is NOT fun, there is NOTHING to be gained. SA a MBH i have nothing to do what so ever.

Oh yea...the krayt skull quest still doesnt work. Cant get past borvo and cant go back.

Oh yes, in addition to all that. I think the devs need to start making changes real quick and start putting out weekly/b-weekly patches. At least create the illusion that something is being done. Players will prefer more going through a change and seeing how it works than going on in a universe that is broken. Change is good, no matter what, stagnation is bad and stinks to boot.

I think the reason people are getting the feeling that nothing has been released for a while is because the last publish was focused on DE's and the publish did pretty much nothing good/effective. The mini publish (wookie armor) well thats just for the wookies. Pub 8 will suck too b/c DE's aren't getting any love at all. NONE!!! IT sucks to be a DE so you have to wait until publish 9 ie Smuggler revamp and First part of jedi revamp. Though I don't believe with all the stuff smugglers want that we will see it happen, especially with jedi going in at the same time. I'd rather they wait till they can get good time in on smuggler rather than releasing something equivalent(sp) to Pub 7 and 8. So come on SE!! LOL

Please modify the /target command to let us target items by full name. For example, if I /target a I don't necessarily get the "a vrelt" 72m away -- instead I might get an "Artisan Mission Terminal" 463m away. This happened to me just last night, when I was experimenting with the /target command. /target a vrelt doesn't work either. /target "a vrelt" doesn't work, /target 'a vrelt' doesn't work, and /target vrelt doesn't work.

It'd be wonderful if I could type /target "a vrelt" and actually get the nearest vrelt. It's clear, and doesn't point me at a random "Artisan Mission Terminal" half a km away.

TH

the player city I live in has quite a few vendors owned by people that have quit the game but left alot of maintenance in their houses and vendors... has anyone ever mentioned having the vendors de-register themselves from the planetary map if/when there are no longer any items up for sale on them? ....... the owner of the vendor could then re-register them when he/she got a chance to relist some more stuff

OR

there could be a time limit on all the vendors to automatically de-register...

either or a mixture of both of these would, I think, help alot with the empty vendors problem we all have experienced

Not to be a prude, but why does everything asked to TH gets a response like:

"Im working on it."

"Im actively pursuing it."

Again, like I said last week. Stop development on your themed plans. Take a look at whats out, and instead of a droid invasion, do a:

BUG INVASION -

Heck, the players have done most of the work for you identifying the problems. You have had a top 5 list anda 10 question list. Spend two months working on bugs and each profession.

Another problem is that you have a themed patch devoted to specific professions. The problem then is that other professions have to wait until a patch is related in theme to them.

Please stop adding things, and fix the game. Honestly dev's! Our guild and city has lostalot ofpeople to new games this last month. Why? Because they are new, and more interesting. SWG has so much potential.

Well, I know Ill probably get flamed for writing this, but it comes from the heart. I really did love this game. Heck, had 4 accounts. Cancelled 2 today, and will be cancelling another later this week.

You've asked the $64,000 question.

Because Thunderheart, SOE's "Dedicated Communicator" is finally settled in, and has long since abandoned the position once dangled to the public horse as Koster's Amazing Communicating Carrot.

Dev Comunication is at an ALL TIME low, and since the disbanding of the general discussion forum, it no longer takes effort to ignore the remaining player base. Correspondents may actually be hearing from the guy .. and are likely hearing the same "we'll look into it" and "i'll pass this up".

TH's communication has gone from a feverish "Try to catch em all" tempo to starting one thread a week for all servers and all questions and then pasting an occasional "we're looking into it" response.

JustG comes in once in a blue moon to add that "We're not a crook" and "TH is doing a bang up job", also things like "We said we are going to do this, and we are still going to do this, and in six months we will still be "going to do this".

I've seen more dev posts on the frikkin Fan fest and Garva's Home show than on any real game development ideas in the last weeks.

As more and more jedi pop every day the jedi forums are a place of desolation, sadness, flaming, and unanswered questions. I dont even read other profession boards anymore because i know its just more of the same.

The "imperial crackdown" and "droid invasion" patches were the biggest waste of time i've ever witnessedaside frommy own existence.

The patch notes mentioned a temporary stopping of the 6 week check for inactivity to remain a citizen of a city. I can't believe this has received no mention on this board, but it is getting plenty of discussion on the server boards.

I truly hope that this is only temporary because people are not getting counted properly or something and not a precursor to large cities never loosing their size or benefits.

On planets with city caps on them there are still villages that are growing in population but not in size. If the larger cities that are loosing population don't drop down in status then the small villages will all disappear as people loose any hope of having their city grow in the future. All the fledging villages will wither and die with no hope for growth. I have heard rumors that unless the city hall disappears that the large cities will never devolve. I hope this is also just a rumor with no basis in fact. There is an easy solution here and it seems obvious to me...simply let the larger cities keep whatever improvements they had as the are downsized, allowing the smaller but alive and growing cities to keep moving up the ladder. I know there is at least one city on my server that is level 2 with a population of over 50, and it is still growing. But I know that they are paying attention to the cap rules very closely and if it becomes apparent that their city will have no chance of growing in the future that they will quit trying and will quite possibly quit playing altogether.

There is a large number of players out there that have no interest in PvP or even PvE, but truly enjoy the other aspects of this game. A big part of their enjoyment comes from having a growing community. I think that was the vision that was set forth when you all started planning this game, but I can tell you that they won't wait forever and they will stop playing when their hope is taken away. They have been extremely patient and continue to be so, but when it becomes apparent that they have been waiting in vain then this game will die, because a large majority of the crafters will simply quit.

Keep hope alive! Don't stop the larger cities from decaying!
