Thread: Weekly Roundtable Discussion (Week Ending 5-31-04)
2. It's too long too dark on most planets. Running around in an pitch black environment where you only see the names above the heads is VERY anoying. The annoyance gets even bigger with 3:
3. Zoom out is too restricted. If you are hunting in the mountains of Dathomir where it is going up and down A LOT, and especially in combination with 2. you see NOTHING, making targetting almost impossible.
4. Server borders: fix that! Players are not interested in THAT there are server borders, but are just getting angry a lot, because items you pick up in a house standing on a server border, vanish until you relog (log out 15 or more minutes) or sometimes until server restart. It's hard to explain to customers who bought some items from you, where they went after they shuttled home. Additional to that the garage is only working sometimes if you placed it onto a server border.
5. Vendors/Bazaar very slow very often. I know there is a lot of traffic on the shopping database, but isn't there a way to make this a little bit more responsive?

Not a single Dev response to the Corvette Feedback Thread.... w/ 36 pages.... and now it's read-only.
Nice;X
Bizarre isn't it?! They ask for feedback from the players (i.e., the people who pay them), they ignor all the feedback for weeks without even an indication that they are listening, and they go in the opposite direction of what people are saying to "fix" it so people can't do the Corvette solo or in small groups.
Heaven forbid people find creative ways to role play in a role playing game.
Heaven forbid people use stealth to complete a top secret mission instead of bringing in an army to lay waste to the ship.
Ironically, the fixes madeit harder to do it in large groups, not for soloers or small groups.
Plus they make something that was fun and really cool into something that is really stupid. I've said it many times, but 12 Super Battle Droids guarding an armoir containing a drooled-on bantha doll is about the most idiotic thing I've ever seen in a game, in fiction, in anything.
Then, as you say, they close the thread.
In the law, this is called to ostrich defense (i.e., head in the sand). If they can't hear people complaining, then nobody is complaining.
I just don't understand the philosophy here. Work hard to put something cool in the game -> See that people are doing it in an unanticipated way, but one that is consistent withthe role playing game genre -> Nonetheless, get upset that someone is doing it in an unanticipated way -> Make bizarre and stupid changes with the intent of thwarting the paying players cleverness and efforts-> Refuse to acknowledge that they have ruined the previously very cool game feature without even "fixing" the perceived problem.
Meanwhile, in last week's "Weekly Roundtable Discussion"thread, Thunderheart indicated that he was "lurking" in the boards and reading the posts about the Corvette, but still provided no response and no indication of any developer sentiment on this issue.
Well, still waiting...
Hey TH 2 points I would like to bring up.
1. Are we getting our 19 questions post this week? Even though this one won't be for any of mine, it would be nice to get back into that, seeing as only got one so far. ![]()
2. My last few CS tickets and experiences with CSR's have been very poor. Basically they are missinforming me about the game, and thus not helpful. I'm trying to be as constructive as possible here. Not sure if CSR play the game at all, or how they are informed about how the game works. I'm sure it's difficult, considering the game is always changing. But when someone makes a CS ticket, it is generally to get help. When the person comes to help you, CSR, and has no help, and in fact knows less about the game then you. Kinda makes you wonder.
The first problem was this. I died in pvp faction death, while I was overt and the Imp was overt, and got item DECAY.I should not have been, since it was well over an hour after asking to go covert. But that was not what I sent the ticket in for. I sent it in for the item decay. Not so much cause I wanted the condition returned, but the fact that we are not supposed to get decay in pvp death, period. The CSR responded with a non sence answer. I asked for more of an answer. They came in game and sent me a tell. The CSR told me THAT YOU DO GET ITEM DECAY WHEN YOU DIE EVEN IN PVP. IF I'M NOT INSURED, I WILL GET THE 1% DECAY EVEN IN PVP DEATH. So I told him that he is wrong, you do not get decay in pvp faction death. He argued that against me and said he can't help me if thats how I feel about it.
The second problem was my weapon, droid, general crafting tool gave me error message "failure to start crafting session". I tried to see if something was in the hopper but there wasn't. The CSR told me that they have condition, and it must be disabled, to look at the condition rating. So I examined it, and there is no condition to see on crafting tools. I borrowed a second one and it worked OK. The status said ready. The CSR told me that the tool is broken, and I need to get another one. Then a friend of mine, directs me to the Artisan FAQ that has this exact problem in it, and says that it's a known problem, that is in the works to get fixed.
The CSR that I spoke to about the Item decay, did help me with a problem another CSR from a different ticket could not help with. My hotkeys would not save after logging out for a month. Per the KB I checked the read only settings on the SWG folders. Didn't fix it. The CSR that responded to the problem did not find a solution for me, and the last responce was to "reply" to the ticket if it didnt fix it. But the "Add Comments" button was disabled so I couldn't. How nice. The Item decay ticket CSR told me to do something that did fix this problem though.
So basically, I'm asking that maybe the CSR folks get some better, or some
, training in the game and how it works. I mean come on, Item Decay In PvP death? I told him that was changed long ago, and it was huge issue with the players etc. Still didn't believe me. So with the combination of lack of cService, and an attitude of, "we know more we are CSR and get paid by SOE" didn't give me a warm fuzzy.
Any comments TH?

FIX THE @#$&@&$*)@&$@ FORUMS!!!!!!!!!
I have a small list of the main problems I've seen that affect all players, so without further ado:
1.) Inventory and backpack sort order does not save. The Inventory sort order not saving was fixed back in Publish 1 in August of 2003, which was a great improvement, but it still doesn't save after any sort of load occurs. (traveling, cloning, etc.) Backpack sort order doesn't even save from the time you close it to the next time you open it. This would help every crafting profession in the game immensely.
2.) Some of the graphical settings have a mind of their own. Specifically "Fade Objects" always defaults to "On" or "Checked" and "Show Detail World Objects" always defaults to "Off" or "Unchecked". I, for one, would like to see the little objects that make up the small details in Galaxies and I'd like the objects in the distance not to fade in and out as much. These settings should actually retain their values when I log off and back on.
3.) The datapad windowhas amnesia. The datapad window does not retain it's size and position since Publish 8 or so. It's not the end of the world, but it is an annoyance.
4.) The column width on the Bazaar and Vendors doesn't save after logging out. Not much else to say on that one.
5.) The /diagnose window defaults to a siza that is not quite big enough. If the default size for this window was just a bit bigger, we wouldn't have to stretch it out for every patient we diagnose. Either that, or if the window size we set would save for every new patient instead of just the current one.
6.) The city marks in the travel windoware mis-aligned in 1280x 1024 resolution. If you have the resolution of the gane set at 1280 x 1024 and you click on a travel vendor, the map in the window that opensat a larger scale than the city marks so that they don't match up. Clicking "Galactic Map" and then "Planetary Map"makes it align properly, but I bet this can be resolved on the other end.
7.) The ALT key is stubborn and refuses to be unbound from "Toggle Mouse Mode". Some of us like to use ALT in key combinations for more shortcut mapping options. Unfortunately, since about Publish 4 or 5 players are unable tounbind the ALT key from "Toggle Mouse Mode". Sure we can use it in a combination, but it switches the mouse mode when you don't want it to. We used to be able to clear the keymapping for "Toggle Mouse Mode" and we no longer can. I'm sure this had to do with someone accidentally unbinding ALT from "Toggle Mouse Mode" and then not being able to toggle, but there has to be a better work around. Besides, if you open any window with the keyboard shortcut (CTRL-O for example) the mouse mode automatically switches.
8.) Pets follow too closely... Still. I think there was a fix for it, but my droids constantly stay on top of me. I love my droid, butsometimes a guy needs his space.
Many of these things are repeats of what is listed in KStarFire's excellent Issues With Persistant Settings Thread in the Core Systems forum, but I figured they were worth repeating.
Th how about unnerfing endor especially now when it will be filled with players because of the deathwatch bunker .
i remeber mantrigue screecher with heavy armor and a much higher area disease..... arachne webmasters with medium armor .... vernom filled arachnes blacking ure whole mind withhin 2 ticks ....... ewoks pubams ... endor was more like a mob battlefield in former time where u can see yellowcons fighting redcons all day long .
can we please get that back . making babys of the unnerfed creatures rare would also upgrade the ch prof a little bit and i guess an unnerfed mantrigue screecher would be a good

Uhhhhm, even though yes I do agree with you about the level of service and *cough* competence *cough* from the CSR team... Yes you DO get decay in PvP if you do not insure.
Insure = No decay in faction death.
