Thread: Patch Notes for Publish 8
dammit,I KNEW that the shuttle changes were going to get nerfed when I saw that 43 page thread asking our opinions.
Starports are still 10 minutes. I quit.

Most of the time you can drive somewhere if the shuttle wait is too long, its the Starports that are the problem.
See, the way I looked at things this was the design flaw - that the old content was rendered mostly useless because of some new content. As I play I generally don't even think about using a shuttle unless I see that its already there, and instead just bike it everywhere. Why shouldn't shuttles be faster then bikes?
Planet to planet shuttles aren't imbalanced for what they provide. Its interplanetary travel. They're not broken. They just are.
Now, what they are is sometimes a major pain in the ass, sometimes a deterrent to playing, or enjoying the time you have to play, but they don't need 'fixing' in the same sense.

A 10 minute wait from talus to endor wouldnt be an issue, its the 10 minute waits between EACH stop that you have to wait for. Either give us 5 minute star port times OR direct travel to any planet, I don't care what some pansy roleplayer wants, waiting 10 minutes at 3 different starports to get to one place IS NOT IMMERSION.

Added Creature Harvester Module to the DE skill tree: This module will allow any character to program and control an equipped droid to advance on the look-at target of the player and harvest the resources on the creature. The player can preset the droid to harvest one of the three types: meat, hide or bone. Or the player can just let the droid pick a random resource type.

Thank you devs, for just killing the Scout and Ranger professions. I'm glad you got this out of the way now, at least we don't have to suffer waiting any longer. I assume Publish 9 you will be deleting the Ranger profession, moving Squad Leader to Marksman in preparation for the upcoming revamp, then be changing the name of the Scout Profession to "Pre-requisit wasted skill points for Bounty Hunter, Creature Handler, and Bio-Engineer".
They left off that Novice Scout is required to use the module. No one is getting harvesting w/o scout.
Will this allow anyone to survey, or just those players who have actually worked up the Survey tree?

Again, why for any player, and not just those players who have worked up the Hunting tree?
I like these modules a LOT - but I'm afraid it will undercut Surveyors, Scouts, and Rangers. With modules like these, there should be an incentive/bonus to actually hold Surveying IV, or Hunting IV, for instance.
Also disappointed on the planetary shuttle change. You'd think after 43 pages of (please reduce interplanetary shuttle wait times) responses, they'd have given in.

2 Second speed cap? Well sir I'm sorry you got killed by a rifleman and cried about it but there's no need to start crying nerf here.actually im very rarely killed by a rifleman
its just that in general a rifles recoil is much harder to re-aim to a pistol thus taking a considerable time to readjust the aim...
a pistol is made to be fired fast... but if they both cap at 1 speed where is the combat differences... pistols should be light dmg(as they are) and very fast..but atm a rifle can shoot just as fast as a pistol...its ridiculous. i should get a .5 speed cap if you guys can shoot at 1 ps
I hear ya, recoil. But this isn't lead bullets. This is lasers.
And rifleman don't hit the speed cap without master marksman + skilltapes or just a lot more skilltapes.
You CAN'T call for a nerf on a profession based on people with addons and extras.
Just the base profession. No tapes, no buffs, no food or spice, no armor. If the profession is fine in that state then you should turn your attentions toward the enhancements.
If you start nerfing professions because they're kicka$$ buffed and armored then you create an envirement where, to be good, they HAVE to have the uber BE enhanced food and sliced 90% armor to compete.
Locking newbies and casual players out instantly.

A 0.5 speed cap? Sounds ok to me.
Another solution might lay in dual wielding.

Sounds like the survey thing will just give you a listing of resources, and it doesn't say that anyone can use it.
As for the creature harvesting thing, I'm guessing it will be much less efficient than scout harvesting, and I feel it is a good idea, as it is so hard to find someone to buy meat from these days.
But what I really want to know is.....why did the skip the direct Planet to Planet flights?

Yes, I just read that, so it doesn't screw over scouts but it sure as heck did to Rangers. Ranger's biggest problem is that already someone with just scout and a combat template can out-harvest us. With this droid, any of the harvesting incentive with Ranger just went bye bye(as little as there is). So basically, all Rangers have left is some shoddy tracking as anything remotely useful.
