Thread: Publish 7 Feedback: Junk Dealer Revamp

Continuing the loot system changes will include the rebirth of the Junk Dealer. As part of this change, Junk Dealers will have more robust conversations, be willing to buy all different types of NPC loot drops and become a new source of income for players. Player will now be able to go adventuring, collect the various loot drops from NPC’s, adventures and dungeons and take it to a Junk Dealer to sell. Junk Dealers won’t buy just any junk either. Different dealers will specialize in different kinds of junk, so players will have to explore and find out which dealer deals in which kind of junk. Be sure to talk to the various Junk Dealers to find out which junk they like the most!
Were you able to sell “junk” to the Junk dealer?
What were your experiences?
so far i have been to 4 junk dealers. give away items and i have received a total of 30 credits if that. got 10 creds for a black sun medallion. now i have seen it being sold for 1000 or more creds. i really have no use for junk dealers. and conversation is pathetic. must be a clue thing. somewhere in there brief message there is a clue as to what type of junk they want.
please help me.

ps people should at least list the server they are on.
need help finding a junk dealer near you? try this on for size:
/find vendor
yup, now you have an illuminated path to your local proprietor of junk.
and yes, i'm really that bored with the game to have figured it out.

Man, I was hopin that I could actually trade with Jawas. You know, I give them a droid and they give me something cool, like a schematic, a modified weapon, clothing, furniture, maybesomething shiny...
I'll give you a newly crafted droid and let's see if the junk dealers will even want it.
I haven't tried the junk dealers, but if what EVERYONE on this thread is saying is true, I never will. 100 credits for ANYTHING is simply not worth the time. You could do an in city delivery mission for a hundred or so creds, and you could do a low level destroy mission for a 1000 or so, and with little to no danger. As someone said earlier, it's not even worth my time to walk over to a junk dealer to sell it.
Not to mention the fact that as some people said, there is much junk I keep, mostly what I loot. Used tickets, broken datapads, and such. All of that is sitting in my house. 100 credits wouldn't cover it.
I really hope not much development time was devoted to this.
maybe this was said, but hell if I'm gonna read 4 pages on junk dealers:
i agree with what is mostly said in this thread.
EXCEPT: i think there are junk dealers in most cantinas. they pay 35 credits for any crap weapon. when i was a newbie killing sleemo or chunker punks was what you did - i got so many useless guns/weapons and no one ever bought on them at the bazaar. i ended up destroying them. if i could have sold them for 35 credits as a newbie, i would have been psyched. so, in theircurrent condition - maybe they are good for newbies, if there is some consistency to them from town to town (like the cantina guy that buys guns).
to any moderately advanced person, they're worhless.

and if they give 1500credits for a cdef i might run off a few 100 crates and sell them to the guy....
The weapons junk dealers won't buy player crafted CDEF.
For the assorted low level weapons, the price is about right. It's better than nothing. I spend a lot of time running meatlump missions, because it's easy and I get to watch my dewback kick meatlump butt, which is always fun. So I collect a lot of junk weapons. It's no big deal to hold on to them until I head back to Coronet and visit the cantina for BF/Mind healing, drop by the junk dealer, and collect a few credits.
However, anyone who expects to make more than partial tip money for dancers this way is seriously deluded.
For clothing items, I can nearly always sell these to other players on the bazaar for more than the pittance the junk dealer offers me. Especially for high end clothing items like dusters and cloaks.
Thunderheart,
It's a sad state of affairs when the Dev's in their ultimate wisdom bring back something as useless as junk dealers instead of fixing the endless number of problems in the game. I'm SOOOO glad that his took precidence over the Jedi revamp, class balancing, and combat revamp. Way to go... kudos!! Keep up the good work at offering us **edit** in comparrison to what needs to be done.
