Thread: Publish 6 Feedback: Imperial Crackdown
Highly disappointing. What it all comes down to are more storm trooper presence in certain cities. Do the developers realize that anyone with a decent template can take them out? And I loved how a single carbineer took out an ATST by using charge shot! I thought ATST would resist knock down attacks? I just found it funny seeing it explode and fall, get back up, explode and fall and get back up till it was actually destroyed.
This patch was an extreem let down. You guys really pushed a big hype about the Crackdown, and all we get are 3 Stromtroopes in theed? Its depressing, I dont care about the new loot, I dont care aboutchanges or if my bike can be red now. All I want is for the Empire to *Mean* something in this game, and not be a total joke.
Cantina "shakedowns" are stupid. TH just stand there and watch what happens man! The trooper walks in, boom hes dead, the others come in, and they are dead. In less than 60 seconds! Its like free faction! The Rebel's, the other players take *ZERO* fear from seeing a Stromtrooper walk in.
Contraband Scans? I have not seen one Probe Droid come from the sky, or was stopped by one Stromtrooper. What the heck does it take to get scanned?
And gezz, where is the Empire? I thought this was the crackdown! Theed, Bestine, all the major cities that were supposed to have more Imperials have hardly anything!
This has nothing to do with Rebel vs Imperial anymore, I donteven care about that. I just want to see the "Empire" in Star Wars! The hype got me excited, TH got me excited with all the talk about "hiding the spice" or "shakedowns" I was really looking forward to walking down Theed and seeing Plattoons of Stromtroopers and AT-ST Patrols, and all I got was 3 Stromtroopers who stood inside the Star Port and were dead soon afterward.
I'm afraid to say, I'm very disappointed. There is next to no Imperial presence in major Imperial cities (Theed, for instance). There's maybe, what -- 1, 2 stormtroopers hanging around? There should be garrisons of them. And on Naboo, for instance, if the Queen is so fiercely loyal (as the Imperial Themepark shows) then why doesn't the RSF attack overt rebels as well?
And the cantina checks -- well, they've turned into nothing but xp and faction farms. I watched one rebel take out 15 stormtroopers over the course of three "shakedowns". And if we Imperials go overt and fight back in the cantina, the entertainers start cursing and yelling to get out. *sigh* Its no-win (except for the farmers, that is...
)
Just throw in an AT-AT or 3 AT-STs in major cities, then it might be a crackdown... ![]()
The crackdown idea is great except for one glaring flaw...
The imperials are no match for the rebels, not even close. Now I'm an Imperial because I like the underdog, but this is silly. I was on Corellia tonight tracking a mark, I stopped at a cantina in Tyenia(forgive the mispelling) when some stormtroopers came in. There were I believe 5 rebels in the cantina. When the shooting was over, all the stormtroopers were dead, and the rebels werent even scratched. I scanned through the combat chatbox spam several times to make sure--the troopers never hit a single person. The rebels had a commando(the main damage dealer), and at least two bounty hunters, I dont know what the other rebels were. The damage output of a commando is impressive, but the lack of any damage output by the stormtroopers was even more impressive.
If you guys want the stormtrooper to be feared by the rebels you've got to make them tougher than what they are now. After the fight the rebels joked about, "That's what they get for making me spill my beer", speaking about the troopers. The Imperial forces are a joke to most players because they are weak.
I'll give you another example. I was at the Imperial Starport on Dantoonie, or it was one of the moons of Corellia--I can't remember; anyway, I was at a Imperial Starport waiting for the ship, when a single player, I believe a Sniper, killed every stormtrooper there with ease.
Make the Stormtroopers stronger or make more of them or at least improve their aim.
To see more of the heavy stuff would be REALLY nice.(ATST and ATAT)

IMP's camping rebel terminals for return TEF'ed players is bad enough... Now
this!
Don't see anything wrong with camping mission terminals actually. I was the victim of it countless times, and it's frustrating, but it only makes sense. You're covert, but you're actions haven't gone unnoticed, and eventually someone is going to note your behavior, find your base of operation, and take you out, along with any associates they find there, if they can. If you're a covert rebel soldier, there are two great solutions to your end though. 1) be more covert. as in, don't always use the same mission terminal, or operate out of a 'hidden' player base. or 2) be more of a soldier. as in, learn how do defend yourself against attack. Or travel in a small squad.
Same two strategies of course apply to this new crackdown. Personally I think it's not enough. In the cities, the playfield should be completely unbalanced, in favor of the Imperials. What would really help make this GCW fun is more overt players. Having places where it's "safe" to be overt should help this I think. Not that it should be one-sided in that respect. A rebel just shouldn't be able to kill an Imp in certain cities and make it out without a good fight. I'm hoping crackdown will be the start of more aggressive things from the devs. Maybe something to balance it would be great though. Some sort of actual rebel activity, like spawn an important Imp governor/moff/whatever in the middle of an Imp-controlled city and broadcast a message to every rebel in the game from "Akbar". If they type /accept, or something, any participant would be spawned, overt, 1km from the city in a staging area and would get a big faction point bonus if the target could be taken out. That was off the top of my head, but the point is that PvP can be a lot more fun when done on a large scale that I just don't see happening in SWG. I played AC2 for a while, and though it was too buggy to stay with, they aced the balance between PvE and PvP playstyles, and did an amazing job of provoking large battles for strategic location. Primetime was often interrupted with a broadcast message indicating that so-and-so had led the forces of bla-bla in taking over the something-mine. Minutes later, most of my guild would be there trying to take it back from the other faction, with one or both sides being led by a boss-monster GM-controlled NPC. I wish there was more of that feeling on SWG. I wish PvP wasn't just about about showing off that your character was a badass. And so far I've seen little other reason to ever go overt. I can still farm faction points with no risk, earn my badges, earn my faction perks, and talk a lot of trash, without actually having to take part in the GCW by fighting other players over the control of a city or a planet.
Heheh, just realized how little of that rant had to do with the quoted message, but I guess it gave me a place to start. :-P
This is what is happening:
ST scans covert reb TKM ,reb attacks, ST calls for backup and dies shortly after being spammed with spitting rawl. Second ST appears and gets the same treatment. The STs are way to easy and the backup only concists of a second ST spawn its weak.
What should be happening:
The reb gets scanned by a squad of STs (Why are single STs walking around scanning dangerous rebels alone?). If the reb is alone he can either chose to run or fight a superior force the only time u should be able to kill the squad is if u are in a big OVERT group.
