You know its great adding more content to the game...BUT! I would rather you guy's to stop adding content and fix what we have now.You add more content = more bugs to work on.I love this game, but if u guys keep adding more stuff you will never be able to catch up on the bugs :-).I'm sure if you took a vote that 80% of SWG players would rather you stop developing more content and work on what we got now,to make a better and less frustating game. There will always be bugs...but theres to many. You need some players that can log in the game and respond to bugs ,like another game I know of.Instead of waiting 3 days or more for a response to a bug...and if you get a response. All you do is pay those players credits for the service...simple.Not only that ,those are ACTUAL players that play the game and understand whats going on.I seen this sytem work for another game and response times were within 20mins to 1 hour :-).Im giving this game till space expansion comes out.If tons of content comes in and we have even more bugs...I have to go.That upsets me cause this game has a ALOT of potential and I love it.Its very intrecate game compared to what I use to play.I know I'm wasting my time saying thsi cause you guys wont listen...Your minds are set to GIVE THE PLAYERS MORE CONTENT.When most of us would like to come out of beta..then add all the neat stuff :-).
Bugs I have :
bikes : still disappeer out of nowhere. So i have trained scout to pitch a tent. Also I go in shop it poofs and you cannot call it out in shop like pets and driods....so dont logout in your shop,or you will have to pitch a tent to get bike.luckily i can afford points for scout ATM...but I dont want it.
Crafting tools :
some of my items i can make dont show up on certain tools.
Map :
Bazzars dont show up on most of maps.
Inventory :
Mixes up after using a shuttleport and starport, very aggravating as an artisan that has alot of material.
Thers more...but too much to type.
Merry X-Mas all and a Happy New Year.
"Since launch, we've been hard at work expanding and improving the Star Wars Galaxies experience"
- when exactly did these things happen and i think the community as a whole would like to differ and argue with that statement of "improving the Star Wars Galaxies experience".
"While our earliest patches contained literally thousands of bug fixes "
- come on now... "thousands of bug fixes" and "earliest patches". SWG only gets patched once a month and then a few times after that to fix things that you guys broke, not to really fix them, but just enough fixing to make it to the next month. I'd like to see 1 thousand bug fixes that you guys fixed with each patch, please list them out.
"several hundred improvements to existing professions and other content."
- several hundred profession improvements?? really?? i think the community would again like to differ on this statement. I'd like to say that there were probably 50 profession improvements and 50 content improvements... that's at most.
"After months of speculation and hard work, players had begun to unlock the secrets of the Force. For us, this was an extremely exciting development"
- how exactly does 1 player on each server happen to be at the same exact progress rate to magically unlock the force slots all on the same day? i'd say the community would probably pick apart the circumstances and say that jedis were actually working on this day.
"Again, Player Vehicles were something we wanted as part of the game since the early design phase, and we're overjoyed that they have made it into players' hands so quickly"
- Quickly? since early design phase of the GAME to six months after launch is quick?
"The big news for the Holiday season is the launch of a Buddy Key program. Right before Christmas, we'll be sending "Buddy Keys" out to all existing subscribers. These Buddy Keys will allow one of your friends to try out the game for free. Check the homepage for more details."
- Probably the biggest evidence as to either a lackluster game which is not captivating as many new people as they expected (aka slow player base growth) or a decline in the player base as a whole (aka losing customers). If they really need to resort to free play time in order to bring in new customers 6months after launch, they must be doing something wrong.
"We are going to continue to give love and attention to all of the professions"
- this one.... im not going to even bother pointing out faults with this statement.
"we're dedicated to improving PvP and battlefields to enhance the GCW."
- 6 months and people still can't find a reason to pvp. we don't gain anything or lose anything in the big picture of things. I thought they ganked battlefields because they were broken. this should say "we're going to START to be dedicated to improving PVP and battlefields".
"The next Act of COA is slated for sometime in January, and we're hoping to increase the frequency of these over time."
- Well at least they admit this one. They don't even try to say it's a "monthly" story arc anymore. Then again, hoping for stuff doesn't actually do anything. The community as been hoping for lots of stuff but none of these hopes ever amount to anything.
"Happy Wookiee Life Day"
- As a former wookiee... this is such a crap statement. Wookiees easily die twice as much as other species and they fall like tissue paper in pvp. Wookiee Life Day?? Everyday is fairly guaranteed death for a wookiee.

To anyone with a broken profession, countless bugs, missing items, decaying clothes/armor, and more things than i care to list: I propose, if youre upset/p.o.'ed that the developers or whomever are not addressing our issues. No one buys the Space Expansion, untill our current game is fixed.

Or you could do what I did, which was to click the cancel button in the account management thing off of the launcher and wait to see if they fix anything before your remaining time runs out.
As you might expect, I'm not holding my breath.

So Mr.Blackman was it as good for you as it was for me?
Not much I can add to all that has been (rightly) said already. Don't really know what is going on in your (the developers) heads. I guess you all need to step back a little and have a good look at what you are doing. The players did and many (not a small number) have pointed out over and over glaring shortfalls. Why don't you listen? I had a look today at EQ2 And WoWcraft.
World of Warcraft will pull the socks over your heads and leave you blind. EQ2 will pull your panties down and give you a spanking you will remember for the rest of your life. Both games are due to be released in the not to distant future. You are running out of time.
lISTEN TO THE PLAYERS AND FIX WHAT IS BROKEN
And quite frankly. Get yourself a good Plot Script Writer or two. Your Plot scripting skills are from almostnot existing to not existing at all. Go there and do that just will not do! This game is supposed to be for young adults and not for 10 year olds.
The Potential for Star Wars Galaxies is Huge. I just wonder if you guys are up to it. Right nowI doubt it. Proof me wrong...please.
Ps. and in case you think I am just grumbling and murmuring. Why don't you link all your little queststentatively together? This would lead a Role Player from quest to quest (if they choose so).. given that you get the message that quest terminals are not the answer to a good role player game. Man..oh man..sigh, the old D&D games whichI played 20 years ago had more plot in one chapter then you have in all the game.
Regards
I couldn't agree more. If the game is buggier than hell (which it is) releasing an expansion is the worst answer out there. Please, for the love of god, fix the damned game. Any further development for the game in terms of expansions/sequels only dooms the lifespan of the game itself.
Oh.. And free Charlie!
A nice vision and I appreciate the post and the info, but...(you just knew there'd be a "but" didn't you?)
While I'm sure this is heart-felt from Shug, the fact is it's impossible to see this as any more than rah-rah PR and more blowing smoke up our collective butts to try and keep an increasingly disappointed, frustrated, and cynical user base happy.
The simple fact is that because of corporate pressure and deadlines, this game was realeased probably a YEAR too soon, and every problem with it stems from that basic truth. The professions weren't done, the bugs weren't caught, the server and database stability was (and still continues to be) a joke, the content was broken or non-existant, the A.I. was ridiculous, and the classes and combat aren't balanced at all. And this is all with DROPPING mounts, cities, and vehicles, where WERE supposed to be in-game at launch.
So the game launches.
After thousands of people pour in and every shortcoming and flaw in the game is revealed, the devs have spent the next six months working on...mounts, player cities, and vehicles. Period. Instead of being honest with us and saying "Yes, we know. We'll fix it. Later. We HAVE to finish mounts, swoops, and cities first. Sorry." they've tried time after time to placate us with empty promises and statements and stalling. TH is just an intermediary to make it look like they're listening. Same with the correspondents.
But they DON'T listen...because they CAN'T. I love the SWG devs. I feel BAD for them, with all the abuse that gets lumped on them from these forums. Like Han Solo said: "It's not their fault." The reality is that what the devs can and cannot do and what they do or do not work on is NOT dictated by the game itself, and certainly not from the community. Those decisions are made from above. They have goals and deadlines that are being set upon THEM for things from SOE and perhaps Lucas. Not from us. It's still their job to huunnt down and fix extremely gamebreaking bugs ASAP. but as far as content and system changes go, they'll get to it when SOE SAYS they get to it.
So, I take every announcment of a fix/balance/improvement/addition with a grain of salt. I'm sure these things are all being discussed and planned, and the devs themselves would LOVE to implement them, but we'll believe it when we see it. We KNOW the pressure is on for the Space Expansion now, and if you guys are truly as far behind with that as I imagine you are, and SOE is going to push to have it released for the next holiday shopping season, then I know that everything else planned for SWG is going to be an afterthought at best and half-assed at worst.
But I will ride it out. Thanks for a great game! And much love to TH, Holo, Q, GreenMarine, and all the other devs and people who have to put up with the crap on the forums. I know how the corporate world works. You guys get heaps of blame from users for things you have nothing to do with. Chin up guys and know that we really do appreciate all your hard work!
I have no faith in you or this game anymore. the post was too little, too late and just like every other empty promise we've heard.
it really is a shame this game is what it is. ![]()
