Thread: Faction Insurance Day Pass: How much?
It should be roughly equivalent to the FP gain of one factional "Destroy" mission. That is, if the player takes insurance and doesn't finish a mission, they come out behind. If they finish just one mission, they break even. If they finish two missions, they come out ahead. For PvP pursposes, this cost represents the "goal" of a player's kill count (i.e. they should be reasonably able to kill enough enemiesin a battleto recover thisFP cost, otherwisePvP becomesa biggerFP sink than it already is.)
If the cost is too high, it will discourage PvP and factional missions, but if it is too low it will discourage caution.
allright lets be honest here TH, if you go overt you're gonna die, and if you do so near a factional cloner you're gonna die a lot. in PvP combat one guy dies the other guy lives, thats what makes it exciting. I enjoy fighting players cause you never know what they're gonna do unlike programmed weak AI. The main problem with coming up for a fair amount of fp for costs for facitonal deaths is that you're assuming the person is dying, hence they're loosing FP anyways, so you're hurting them double.
For factional fighting, you should get a free pass if Overt. Plain and simple. Someone who goes overt clearly wants to pvp and makes themself known as such and takes the risks involved (including group tef'ed coverts). Players want to pvp without decay so why not impliment this as a way to do it? And before your little head starts thinking "well they could just go overt and then back to covert to get the free pass" remember that it takes at least an hour to go back to covert status... You're still putting your rear on the line for that period of time. I dunno if it can be coded, but if the free pass worked ONLY while Overt, I would see absoloutely no reason why you guys wouldnt want to impliment this. It would make every person dedicated to pvp want to do it again and bring back those people who have jumped off the fence on the other side.
For Coverts since they dont take the same amount of risk involved as Overts a penalty should be issued, I agree. Perhaps one of 30 FP for the insurance. With the coming of the Crackdown, crafters and medics everywhere NEED this kind of thing since they're poor on fp as it is. taking more from them daily would be rather outrageous

Amen...I second that.
I think it should be on par with current insurance costs.... When I insure my entire inventory (as after death), it usually costs me around 5k. Well, I can earn 10k in about 10 mins from a mission.
Similarly, I can earn 50 or so faction points with a mission, in about the same amount of time.
So how about somewhere around 20 to 25 faction points to insure? That's pretty cheap if you consider that it will last the WHOLE DAY, no matter how many times you die.
1% decay with insurance is rediculous. There is no need for it, there is no need to have it. I do not understand why the Developers are so insistant on having it. I personnaly do not PvP at all because of it, nor will I ever PvP as long as the Devs continue to think it is useful in any way. There will never be any real purpose to the GCW as long as you have people like me out here that do not want to buy expensive armor that decays twice upon damage in battle, and again at death. The crafters are not hurting for business, the the uninsured decay is plenty enough for them to maintain thier status quo. IF I INSURE MY ITEMS, THEY SHOULD NOT DECAY.....period. That should be all there is to it. No more discussion is nessesary on this subject.
I actually liked the old sytem of going out to fetch my corpse as a death penalty. That was alot better than decay on my armor etc. And, now that vehicles are in the game, it should not be as hard to go fetch as it used to be.
I know that this post is pointless to the dev team, they do not care that we ALL hatethis. They want to try to stimulate the GCW, but fail to realize that most people don't PvP, because of decay. We do not work so hard on getting good eqiupment just to let it fall apart on an optional part of the game.
1% decay is not acceptable in any form!
Note to TH: If you want us to try to embrace your 1% decay then tell us why it is wanted without being sovague, or without the thread you're hanging on to about crafters hurting. Take away those rediculous arguements and make a good one for the devs, because those are not good ones. 1% decay with insurance in any way is not acceptable to the playerbase. Lose it or forget the GCW, it is poitless otherwise.
And, to answer your question, 0 FP is what you should pay for a day pass, in fact they should track us down andgive us day passes for even logging on, and even thinking like wewant to PvP. I want TH himself to come to me and give me a day pass himself everyday as long as 1% decay is in-game.
