Q,
Let's be clear. What does "becoming a Jedi" mean? Are you changing the way you UNLOCK the Jedi character, or are we only talking about PLAYING the Jedi character?
SOMEONE PLEASE SHOW ME WHERE A DEVELOPER HAS MADE THIS CLEAR

"Please ensure they hear our pleas to treat those of us who are not jedi fairly as well. Some of us have grinded many, many professions, and if we have not achieved the slot by the time the new system is in place, all of that effort could be for naught."
Thenew Jedi systemwill take into account how far along you are under the current system in achieving the opening of your force sensitive slot.

A) Please be more descriptive in regards to what or how we will be compensated for our Jedi Holocron grinding and the new Quest system. Will we be compensated for only completing our 4 holo prof's or for all prof's up to that point?
Sorry, no can do. I can't answer Jedi questions. I do read the posts and the Correspondent feedback though and pass the info along.

You have some valid points.
However, this is the one thing in this game I would like the developers to be consistent about.
For years they have said Jedis will be rare and being one will be more challenging than anything else in this game bar none.
I just don't see why they should go back on that 7 months into the game.
I don't want everyone I see to be a Jedi.
I don't want being a Jedi to be easy.
Also, the devs have said that what is in the movies is the true cannon. They've said they draw from all sorts of EU sources, but not when they conflict with the movies.
I'd think if there were a million Jedis after Episode IV, we would have heard about that in Episode V.
Most of all, I, and many others, bought into the devs' original idea of how to put Jedis in this game, and we still like it.
A side note: I've been a Star Wars fan since I saw the first one at my 5th birthday party in May 1977. I've had tons of Star Wars toys, bed sheets and curtains, cookie jars (Lucas' favorite Star Wars paraphenalia: an R2 cookie jar), books about the art and making of the movies, and whole slew of games.
I've yet to read any EU stuff and have generally ignored it.Heck, I didn't even know what EU stood for until I'd been playing this for a while. I knew it probably wasn't the European Union. (Psst: if someone readingthisis as clueless as I was:it stands for "Expanded Universe"... or something like that).
I'd never heard about Boba Fett survivng until I started playing this game.
However, I've heard so much good stuff about the Zahn books that I'll probably read them.
should the quests, which are needed to open the FSC slot be public, i am pretty sure we are going to see a run on them just like the one we are experiencing on holos at the moment. especially now, that one of the biggest deterrents from going for the FCS slot, is no longer there with the removal of permadeath. even if the quests will be hard to complete and therefore balance is maintained, this would still have a negative impact on the economy.
you finally managed to find somebody who used to make decent weapons or amor and then they tell you that they dropped the skill because they now go for their FCS slot. sound familiar ? don't get me wrong, i really do hope that i get proved wrong. just wanted to add my five cents here.

great news, that the holo grinding craze that is currently going on will soon belong to history. however, i have a couple of concerns related to the other changes that are planned.

I want to see a chance for failure here. A huge chance. A series of quests that test you before your given the slot. My personal thought is that the FSCS should be open to everyone but only those that will bring more to this game should bother with it. But I dont want to be the one to judge who should and shouldnt. So let fate decide. Do a quest wrong and you got to start all over. 3 attempts at starting over and your done and cant do it anymore. No FSCS for you.
PB32
So let's wait and see
IMHO, it was a misteak to make jedi the uber end game accomplishment, that just drove the wrong people to seek it for the wrong reasons. I also think the removal of petma death was a misteak, I was lookinf forward to playing under a system where things get real. Jedi should have unlocked 90 days after account activation, or simply have been a starting profession, had this been the way of things, there would be few or no issues or complaints regarding jedi.
I hope we get full recognition for out work toward the FSCS, meaning, for every one of the 5 professions mastered we get credit for 1/5 of the new path. As far as those who did other professions trying to find the silent one, that's like trying to figure out a quest and running into dead ends, it happens, and shouls not be shown as progress, it was not.
As always, this is just IMHO.
I'm glad the system is finally changing so that jedi are not made by grinding half the professions in the game. Whether it was a mistake or not to have it that way to start should soon be moot, kudos to the devs for recognizing the problem with holocrons and grinding.
That said, I do think it's a huge mistake to get rid of permadeath. Jedi were supposed to be extremely difficult to play, even frustrating to the point that players who had unlocked their slot would stop playing their fs character and go back to their first character. This was supposed to be the method to keep jedi rare. Jedi rarity is a must, because if they are to remain powerful (and I think everyone agrees that they should be), then a game world with jedi running around everywhere quickly becomes a game where everyone has to be jedi just to keep up, or to survive. With no way to recycle the jedi population as new jedi join the pool (permadeath) the game will fill up with jedi even more quickly than with profession grinding, regardless of how difficult the new quests are.
Good job on recognizing a system that needed changing...but I think you're changing some of the wrong parts. ...and when was this ever in concept or in development? Is it usual to put issues this big straight into testing?

Recognition?
How are you going to give me recognition for something you don't track. This has me seeing red. You told use that you can NOT award badges for professions mastered prior to the introduction of the master badges. So how are you going to give me some kind of recognition for the 15 professions I've done trying to unlock this pathetic slot?
Leave the old system of unlocking in the game. If you want to put those with 4 of the 5 professions finished a leg up on the competition that is fine.... but I'll be damned if I'm gonna keep playing if the last bit to unlock a FS slot is any harder than mastering one profession.
Again as a million people have stated...this isnt going to happen for another few publishes at least. They already have plans for feb's publish so we may not see it for awile yet. You master hologrinders can buy my Holo's (260k each) and grind and master 20 professions till your blue in the face.
You have a couple of months to do it. Go for it. Yall keep bragging how you can grind through professions in a few weeks and all that...go for it...you have time.
As far asperma-death....Even with it...you never lost your FSslot anyway....You still had it...how is that different then the skill loss system? I dont get it. People just like to whine and cry for no reason except to get attention. If you would just read and think about it for a second....things would become clear.
A quest based system for unlocking the FS will be fair for everyone. It will settle down the grinding away of professions, help out the economy a bit, get rid of 5million credit holo sales and more. Its a fair chance for all players who may want to experience the FS.
It will not raise jedi server populations. Most people i know are happy with their characters the way they are. Some dont even want to mess with jedi. Some will getrid of it because of the skill loss problem.
(And I hope I don't get banned for letting this leak out...)
To start this quest speak with a new NPC (blue Ghost of Obi Wan) at his home on Tat(POI). Go up to him and hail him.
The insane Rancor is a super rare spawn on a new planet in the next expansion. The only way to get there is with the help of a pilot (new class in next expansion). You'll also need the help of a large guild because the Insane Rancor spawns at the bottom of a very large cave and to get their you and your group of about 50 will have to fight down there over a period of a few hours. The insane rancor only spawns every 2 days so once you get down there expect a long camp.
This is the easiest part of the quest. Just bank transfer him 10 million credits.
"Very good young padawan. I see you are dedicated. To continue your journey you need to bring me Darth vaders lightsaber."
This is one of the more difficult aspects of the quest. In order to get Darth Vaders light saber you will need to kill Darth Vader. With the next expansion Darth Vader will become a "rare spawn" and you will need to camp him. Once you see him spawn you will need to get your guild of about 50 people to rush over and kill him. You'll need to be quick because others will be camping him too and the first guild that gets assembled at his location first gets rights to kill him.
So once you kill Vader and loot his lightsaber take it back to Obi Wan and hand it to him.
"Very good young Padawan. To continue your journey go speak with Yoda."
Part II:
"Want to become Jedi you do? Too old you are. yes too old. Go away."
Just hail him again.
"Persistant you are. Very well. I sense much fear in you. To overcome this fear bring me a stool sample from Jabba the Hutt. Do or do not."
To get a stool sample from Jabba the hut you'll need to travel back to Tat. Go to Jabba's palace and bring a guild of about 50 people with you. In the new expansion part of Jabba's palace will become a "dungeon" you'll have to fight through. You will spend a few hours fighting to get to Jabba's bathroom. Once in there you'll just pick up a stool sample (an item that spawns randomly on the ground every 12 hours). Pick it up and go back to Yoda and hail him.
Qui-gon jin will be a blue glowy in the Theed palace. Find him and hail him.
"greetings padawan. So you want to be a Jedi? Well the path is not easy and is wrought with danger. To continue your journey you must master <a random profession you haven't mastered will be generated here> "
Master the profession then hail him again.
"Indeed I see you are dedicated. To continue your journey go speak with Princess Lea"
Part IV:
This is the hardest part of the quest. Princess Leia will be a rare spawn. She can spawn on any planet at any time at any location. And she only spawns once every 3 months. And she only stays up for an hour and then despawns. And after you talk to her she despawns again and the next person waiting to talk to her has to wait 3 more months.
Once you find her hail her.
If you are an imp you'll need to drop your faction and go rebel. Become a General in the rebel army by gaining faction points (and unfortunately with the next patch they are nerfing the amount of faction points you get to 1 per kill so getting to general may take awhile). Once you attain the rank of General camp Princess Leia again (hope you don't have a job) and hail her.
"Very good General. To continue on your path go speak with Obi-Wan"
Part V:
Go back to Tat and hail Obi-Wan's ghost.
"You are getting close young padawan. I sense the force is strong with you. To continue the final phase of your journey you must master a profession. I cannot tell you what it is but try to use the force. The stronger you are with the force the more likely you will pick the correct profession quickly. Go now young one."
Now start mastering professions until you pick the right one that unlocks your FS. Good luck!
