I've played since launch.

No one complained about combat then because we were all excited to see our first Scout Blasters.

Every player has every item as well as it can be made at their finger tips now.

The game is now a matter of skills and weapon attributes when considering combat.

This issue cannot wait. Fix combat and push JTL back.

we have already had countles players leaving becuse of the pvp system, i myself just started playing less then a month ago, but im getting kind of sick of the content already

Maybe SOE should fix the game before launching an expansion... was having a hard time between choosing to play this or WoW when it comes out. i am now founding SOE as very untrustworthy and i will never buy JTLuntil the game i bought is fixed, and never ever again play a SOE game, im waiting for WoW to come out, SOE could learn something from a real dev team then

pushing back the combat rebalance- and not fixing a core game system is the worst idea soe ever conceived.

Sounds great. Good to hear whats going on. I have been impressed at how well SWG has been doing the past year and it's been an exciting experiance both in game and here on the forums. Thanks for the update Thunderheart!

OMG...Are you for real?

*smells someone sucking up thinking it will get them JTL beta, ROTFLMAO...*

Cancelled today - already clicked and even filled out the optional exit survey.

How on Earth (or any other galaxy) can you guys think anyone would actually buy this?

That the "combat balance" that has supposedly been on your "sandbox" server for months on end, now you admit that there is really no one working on it and it doesn't exist?

Wow. This game just isn't going anywhere. I refuse to go through it all over again with JTL.

I'll go back to playing console SW games - Battlefront looks so cool.

But SOE will never see a red cent of my money again.

And no, you can't have my stuff - already gave it away.

Irott,

Just thinking about JtLS gives me goose bumps! I want everything that it will offer as bad as the next pseudo-space jockey but I don't want to reward them for ignoring their own promises.

Someone above mentioned that things would never and should never be balanced and I agree whole heartedly with that sentiment to the degree that classes should be unique and a Jedi should be able to easily kill an Artisan or a Rancor kill a Novice Pikeman but when people scream about "balance" what I feel they are really meaning is that they want to feel like thier character is NEEDED and an integral part of the scheme of things so in as much as that feeling could be balanced then I support that.

I gotta go now but I just wanted to reply to ya so you don't think we're all anti JtLS.....just want it after some other things is all.

/wave

I just cancelled my account.... Oh Wait! No I didn't.

I like playing this game and cancelling my account would serve no purpose.

JtLS is the most important thing that will ever happen. It NEEDs to be a part of this game.

The game Star Wars Galaxies is the most important thing that will ever happen to Star Wars Galaxies. It NEEDS to be fixed before it is expanded.

Can Jump to Lightspeed exist without Star Wars Galaxies? It seems then that Star Wars Galaxies is the most important thing to Star Wars Galaxies.

I see the Squad Leaders, being the most broken and worthless profession in the game, have a champion who puts their needs somewhere in the range of 2005 (but no one REALLY knows when).

best quote of the day from our lovely forums concerning JTL:

"even though it'll be a twitch-based game that multimillionaire/billionaire players will be able to beat them every time in their ultra-modded ships." - --kaylB.

You people think SOE cares if you switch to EQ2? Both games are owned by the same company!

This is my first SOE game. I find it impossible that I will ever support another game from them. If this wasn't Star Wars, I would have been out of here 10 months ago.

I have read much of this post, not all lol, too large already, which means most people will not read this reply. Oh well, I will try to communicate what is really happening anyway.

I work on very large software systems and understand business.Large software systems and business (making a profit that is better than what you could do by simply investing your money in someone elses business) is something most people in the player community don't understand. Many do, but most don't.

Additionally, SOE is still trying to understand it's player community. Trust me, they really want to, cause then they can make more profits and employ more people, hopefully making the business grow.

What we have here with this announcement is a bit of a communication problem, because many of us can see what is really happening. We inform those who don't see it. So, it is usually best policy to not attempt to sugar coat anything.

Jump to Lightspeed is an expansion that is intended to be sold. The revenues on the sale of JTL are what SOE is depending on to meet their (managements) projections for this year. This probably affects ongoing employment for some individuals and bonuses/raises for others. Thunderheart, you are saying that the decision was to delay the combat revamp because it is felt that the whole development team is needed to do the job correctly. What is probablyjust aslikely the case, is that management has decided that the efforts of the whole (or a greater part of the) development team is needed to keep the schedule for JTL on track. There is significant projected revenue at stake with JTL. Ok, then just say that.

"We have to delay the combat revamp in order to maintain schedule on JTL. We need to do this, so that we produce enough revenues for the company to justify our existence. This is business. Sometimes we don't like it, however, it is very necessary. We apologize for existing errors or problems with the base game, and we will apply the efforts of the entire development team to correcting these and adding the additional content that our player community desires after we meet the delivery schedule for JTL."

Thanks for the efforts you put into this game and trying to make it fun and enjoyable for as many of us as you can!!

I for one, understand that you need to make some profits at the same time. So please take your time to do the things you know you need to do. Ultimately, the player community will grow as the project finishes coming together. We all used to run around the planets for Pete's sake, lol. Things have improved significantly. Even with the problems that have existed, the game provides plenty of entertainment for the cost.
