I like playing this game and cancelling my account would serve no purpose.
JtLS is the most important thing that will ever happen. It NEEDs to be a part of this game.
Yeah, that was probably the most asinine post I've ever seen from a correspondent.
Especially one whose profession is as broken as professions come.
The GCW and the land-based game are what this entire game was sold as. We didn't buy it thinking, "Gosh, maybe they'll say '**edit** everything else for a year, let's blow it off and get the Space game installed!". We bought it to enjoy the game that was sold to us. Very few of us do these days.
Cancelling accounts is a perfectly good means of getting developer attention, and guess what? I'm doing it too. Not because I'm a sheep, but because I understand the community's priorities, and they apparently have nothing to do with SOE's or yours. Why in the hell are you a correspondent, anyways? Do you think they'll actually make Squad Leader anything but worthless garbage in a twitch-based space game?
Hurray for you. Alot of us arent because we enjoy it now... sorry.
Great. You represent the other part of the playerbase, then. That being the 1% of this thread that has a hard-on for flying a YT-1300 freighter called "TEH MELLIMIUM FALCIN!!1!!", or the Jedi.
this game had so much potential, but over the course of the year it's been one disappointment after another. the only reason i'm still here is the people i met. every day that goes by, i find myself posting more and playing less.
/disappointed

At the expense of Squad Leader (of which I was a non-holo Master for a good stretch), and well... every other profession and most core systems of the existing game we're paying for, apparently.
JTL remains an expansion.Merely apart of the core game, one thatwe've been getting along without for the past year. But I suppose that doesn't say much, since we've also been getting along without balanced combat, eh? =)
Whatever it adds will not begin to fix the central game, except presently, it's got more than ever riding on it-- because it has to make up both for existing expectationsand the disillusionment that comes with real changes to theexisting game being shelved on its behalf. Frankly, I'm dubious that it will ever meet either expectation, because the team that brings JTL is the sameteam that brought us the current game as is.
JTL eventually needs to be part of the game. Sane combat systems, balanced professions, and the GCW needs to be part of the game now.

Additionally, SOE is still trying to understand it's player community. Trust me, they really want to, cause then they can make more profits and employ more people, hopefully making the business grow.
What we have here with this announcement is a bit of a communication problem, because many of us can see what is really happening. We inform those who don't see it. So, it is usually best policy to not attempt to sugar coat anything.
You obviously haven't been active on the forums long. We didn't just suddenly develop "a communication problem". Communication got shived and stuffed in a dumpster 11 months ago. His family still buys space on milk cartons.
SOE hasn't done diddly to understand the community. They've done dozens of polls regarding coming content, and each and every one has been ignored and supplanted with garbage that we've had to subsequently fight to get removed. (Crafting changes, anybody?)
SOE has made (if you take a pathetically low average of 100k members since inception) well over 15 million dollars a month. A MONTH. PER MONTH. Fifteen. Million. That's just a low-end estimate, since the numbers in sales were given around 300k about half a year ago, and many remaining players have multiple accounts.
They have so much incoming capital to hire more staff that they could probably rent Disneyland every Sunday and sit in Star Tours with Sno-Cones and shout out emote ideas at the animatronic C3PO.
