I would just like to say that i have read and agree with everything that Lightswords said, when i started this game jedi were unheard of and no one had any idea on how to open up their FS slot..so with everyone in the dark people just picked the proffesions that they wanted and just chilled and roleplayed, and you are right..when the holo's started it was like a dark wave engulfed every server...people went mad for jedi..everyone started on the path because they finnaly found out how to do it, i still remember the excitement that buzzed around my guild when the first jedi appeared, and i admit..i was caught in it too...and itstill hasn't stopped.

I Want a jedi..make no mistake and i will not stop until i get one, i will go back to roleplaying after i have achived this, but this is what a lot of people are like, look at the star wars universe, jedi have been revered since day one..and when people seen one within their grasp they will stop at nothing until they have it, things may settle down..or they may not...but with the path open..people will follow it.

With Runesabre's clarification:

I think that all those with more Master Profession badges than exploration badges will not be disappointed (I hope). I'm going to do what a few others have said they were going to do... work harder. I have a feeling we will wish we had, if we do not.

Now we can focus this thread into yet another argument about permadeath. I guess I'll throw in on this one now.

I can see the argument for permadeath but losing a skill box is no small matter. It was my understanding anyway that "permadeath" was more "start over" anyway.

Though in another timeline, Yoda points out that Jedi are too sure of themselves. Guardians of the Universe or hunted minority, either way permadeath would make Jedi's afraid to leave their house. Another point that has been made by the Dev's also is their directive to choose the casual player over the hard-core players when it comes to issues of this magnitude. IF they bring permadeath back, my guess is, it will be some kind of programming necessity.

Ok, back to holo eerrr whatever grinding.

I think the System as it stands should stay..it takes time and dedication to open up the FS slot at the moment..it's the only thing that drives me is the fact that at the end of it i will get a character that is rare..and a challenge..

The system as it stands is a pain in the ass to complete...but it means that you must have dedication to open it up.

Say goodbye to continuity...

And say hello to Jedi Knight online.

The devs came back on their promise for this game. They promised that Jedi would be extremely rare and a difficult path to find and follow. Well, now thanks to SOE, EVERYONE knows how to get to Jedi, there will be very little penalities for being a jedi, and the Jedi population is going to SURGE. Meanwhile, they leave all the other professions broken or hindered.

To me it looks like a disgusting attempt by SOE to make more money marketing this game as one where you can easily be a jedi. It's so apparent between them assigning priority to make Jedi easier to discover and progress and the latest ad on the new website which presents Jedi more often than any other profession.

I agree that the Jedi system needed some work. Some power grinding needed to be taken away and it should have been fun and more jedi-like. However, it SHOULDN'T have been made any easier. With these new changes, any smart Jedi will never get skills reduced and the Jedi will no longer feel any real danger.

The jedi are in hiding?? HA!

This game would be a lot better without Jedi.

Ahem...

There are toooo many Bounter Hunters running around. Do I care? No. Even though im sure the movies did not show thousands of Bounty Hunters running all over the place we get it in the game which is not balanced. But I dont care, because that's what people want.

TKM's as well. That's ALL I see now. TKA TKA TKA TKA and guess what? TKA. I dont even bother declaring my faction anymore because as a Rifleman, we're screwed against them, im Imperial btw. So GCW is boring for rifleman and other ranged professions because we have no defense vs knockdown or dizzy and also because SOMEHOW lol TKA can knock us down from like 50m away, what are they using Force Push or something? Horrible, horrible.

Look let's just face it, they're changing it. Did they say the quests were gonna be easy? No. They're probably way more difficult than some Theme Park and it's probably gonna make you do stuff like travelling to a location on some other planet without any given wp and the only way you have to get their is by clues in their words.

People DO NOT want to spend hours upon hours of mastering useless professions they dont want. You know what I got for my holo? Armorsmith. Now your probably saying "ohh boo hoo the little baby doesnt want to spend his days making stuff" And your right I dont. What if my next holo was Weaponsmith? Then Architect? Then Droid Engineer.

Look the point is if you dont want to see lots of Jedi quit. NO ONE IS FORCING YOU TO STAY OR BECOME A JEDI. Try to remember that. And if you dont like Jedi clogging your server. Become a Bounty Hunter and kill them till they quit.

Thanks for playing!

2 1/2 days.

714 (715 if you count this one) posts.

9000+ views on the openinging thread

Maybe, just maybe... the swatted the hornets nest too hard this time?

Change whatever you want. Ill do your quests. Nevermind all of the proffesions I have mastered. Never mind wasting my time. Nevermind the no perma death.

I'll get my jedi. Ill run around killing/getting killed by as many people as I can for 1 week.

Then, I quit.

And after this mess.... I will never buy another product from sony, or any of its subsidiaries again.

Nice work!

Back before this game released the Devs announced that Jedi would be a "rare" class and the Jedi system would be difficult, but rewarding. I had always thought this is how the system would work....

1.) The Devs would randomly select a handful of people on each server that would have access to "special" quests that would eventually lead to becoming force sensitive.

2.) After you completed these missions your character would then be FS, but now you'd have to complete some more missions. ( Find a crystal for your lightsaber, constuct your light saber, find a Jedi master to train you, blah blah blah...)

I thought/think this would have been a good system because......

1.) The devs would have had complete control over the Jedi population.

2.) People would have known that it was a random selection system from the start and would just play the game without their main focus on becoming a jedi. ( I know not everyone wants to be a Jedi but go look at how many posts are on the Jedi forum, over 200,000 only some of the sever forums have more posts.)

3.) The holocraze/grind never would have happened. (However, I salute you guys that went through all that grinding, thats alot of clicking/gametime!!!)

I think it's great that the new system will be quest oriented but I hope not everyone gets acess to them, I mean people finished the quests in COA act 3 in less than a day, the same thing could happen with the new Jedi system. This is just my OPINION....I sense a single glowing star in my future....

I am in the anti-Jedi camp myself as well.....if many of you read, SOE did a poll..."Are you presently opening your force slot?".....at the time...48% said yes....34% said no....10% said never will (That's where I fall)...the rest were undecided.......48%?!?!...that's nearly half the population......the 34% that said no was basically saying, " I'm not doing it now, but that doesn't mean I won't later"......oh great....that means more Jedi later on......I wouldn't be suprised to see at least a 75% Jedi population...sounds absurd?.....not really, when u think about it. Big reason: U guessed it...no more permadeath....there goes the deterrent for limiting the number of Jedi in this game...just lose a skill box that u can gain back in a week or so...big deal. Note to SOE: Some of us paying customers want a balanced game world....a REALISTIC Star Wars universe.....50% Jedi population?!?....I don't think so. Sometimes listening to your community, is a good thing...in cases like this, it's a VERY BAD thing!!!My opinion: If you guys that want to have servers overrun with Jedi...pop in JK:2 or JA get all the force powers ya want, and not have to pay a dime to SOE or anyone else for that matter...it's FREE!!!! Cuz that's bascially what your going to have in the end. Too late for this now but, SOE should have just had NPC Jedi, that way SOE could have controlled the population of Jedi, people still would have played...period Everyone wants to be Uber...always. I hope u change things SOE....or you'll have one less customer....followed by thousands more.

i have never posted on these forums before, but i have neen reading them for a while....

seems to me that many of you that dont like the new jedi revamp just a bunch of whiners....

star wars IS all about jedi... without jedi there would be now star wars.

if the game was perfect, i'm sure there would be ppl still saying that its too perfect... there will be people saying that SOE should change things around...

to me, the game is just fine.... noone ever said u have to be a jedi; if you wanna limit the population of jedi, DONT BE A JEDI!!!

and u all say that jedi will run around everywhere? how would that be different from the way before the patch? so many players are so close to unlocking their slots that u never know, maybe tomorrow 90% of all players will be a jedi.

plus, i dont think that SOE will make it easy to unlock your jedi slot... do u think they dont know what would happen if there are jedi everywhere? do u think they are not aware of overpopulation of the jedi? that just doesnt make sence

I'm waiting for some clarification, as well. I went out, earned my money, and bought millions of credits worth of holos for me and friends.. Now if my time and money spent is going to be devalued, I'm done. I will not stand for wasting my time and money like that.

Hear that, SOE? Screw us over like that, and people WILL quit. I will be the first.
