I dont want to make my main jedi, and use my new alt to back up rifleman and fencer, yet i dont want to do the FS quests again on my alt.
I don't think(or see) why anyone would WANT to, so it doesn't make any sense why the devs are going to do it like this... Maybe because yeah alot of people don't want to but I know 3/4 or going to sacrifice it all just to wield a damn glow stick... The only thing we can do is push the issue and hope the devs give us the option to make our second slot FS

Ultimately, it must be a story driven path that doesn’t go counter to the Star Wars experience

I think it should be the first slot only.
Yes it would be easier for all of us to use our second slot as FS and leave our primary slot intact. Isn't that the point though? I don't think anyone wants to see the game deteriorate into "Jedi Wars" as they're calling it on the GCW forum. Forcing players to make the choice of keeping their character intact or going through the Padawan Trials and making a Jedi while losing the character's old abilities will be the best way to keep Jedi numbers to a reasonable figure.
fritz300 said he expects 1/4 not to bother going for Jedi under those conditions, my experience through discussing it with my friends for quite a few months is that the real number may be a lot higher..
Anything which helps to control the number of Jedi (who are already overt in too many numbers) is a good thing. That way, the only ones who will become Jedi are those people who truly have a deep desire for it.
