So am I to understand that with all the pre-beta and beta discussions about the differences in death due to PVEor PVP, that this particular development team didn't think to code it in a way to tell the difference?

Is this some sort of joke?

Someone is getting their chain pulled, and it's either the customers, or it's TH by the developers who may now view his customer advocacy as placing him in the "enemy" camp, and what a shame if the developers view us as the enemy for asking that the game be improved. Pathetic actually.

Newsflash! ... the PvP and GCW game in Star Wars Galaxies doesn'thold a candlestick to the PvP game in Dark Age of Camelot back when DAoC first launched. It doesn't even come close in terms of tactics, strategy or fun gameplay. Unless you're really into grief. In that arena,SWG is outstanding!

Seriously, get with the program. Hire who you need to hire to get the job done. Rethink your ideals of providing FUN gameplay to your customers. Get rid of the sadistic programmer(s) or producer(s)who have chips on their shoulders (you probably know who they are) and who for some banal, unfathomable reason thinkpaying customersactually enjoy suffering. Warn the Sony Suits that if they don't get this game fixed soon, the nextCGW article will be much harsher, and that light at the end of the tunnel might just be one of their many upcoming or current competitors.

Just the thoughts of one of the 20 percent or 60,000 paying SWG customers whoareattemptingto engage in either solo or group based PvP.

TH, ....PvP just isn't working with decay. Sure some will say "Well only real PvPer...." or whatever, but the simple fact is people just dont want to go through all the hastle of declaring just to loose their armor. Decay needs to go until a proper, balanced solution is implemented. It won't hurt gameplay. Since there is nithing to gain in PvP.....I dont see why there should be something to loose.

At the VERY least, remove decay from armor....

I REPEAT decay on armor needs to be removed. A good set of armor is very expensive and it already decays anyway. Most people (myself included) would not mind decay if it was removed from armor. Weapons dont decay? Why? Because they wear down anyway. Well, same with armor.

I can't what for WOW and Blizzard to own all over SOE. Pvp was the sole driveing force for me playing this game. But now i can't afford it anymore. Buying a new suit of armor every week is getting very anyoing. Im gone as soon as World of Warcraft hits.

The problem with removing the 1% decay is that the armorsmiths run out of job

Bull, armorsmiths get plenty of business. The real problem is that there are so many armorsmiths and many players only buy from reputable dealers. Before decay I would buy at least one suit of armor a week. Some for myself, or for noobs who I wanted to help out. But now...why should I even bother.

And as someone stated.....things like this ARE why people leave SWG. I know at least 20 people...literally...that don't play this game anymore that wanted to get into it. But with bad design choices they will loose more and more customers. There is nothing to loose if decay is removed. Armor degrades anyway. I'd rather SOE make it so that armor can not be repaired than keep decay in.

petition to be able to 1 star TH!!!!!! /sign

the only thing i every find remotely enjoyable anymore is pvp. gamebreaking bugs like my speeder disappearing 5000 meters from town... my items poofing from my inventory when i take them from my house.... armor holes..... PC warping..... god the list just goes on.

i wish i could PVP more but i just can't afford the loss of armor every week. there's only 2 or 3 solid armorsmiths on my server. as you can PROBABLY imagine they run out of stock quickly.

so, thank you devs for adding timesinks and subtracting fun.

F you

I dont know of many armorsmiths that werent making **edit** good money in the first place.

The devs need to listen now. We understand it may take a large amount of coding to make the game tell the difference between PVP deaths and PVE deaths. But they SHOULD NOT be delaying removing decay in PVP because of this. It TRUELY halts PVP because people simply cannot PVP becausethey have to spend all their time in-game earning money back to afford more sets of armor.

PLEASE REMOVE OF ALL DECAY WHEN INSURED. THE GCW THAT MANY SERVERS ARE TRYING TO IGNITE CANNOT BE HELD BACK ANOTHER MONTH BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM.

The pure number of replies that have appeared on this post should show how much of an issue this is to everyone who plays this game. PLEASE FIX THIS BEFORE THE PATCH GOES LIVE.

"The problem with removing the 1% decay is that the armorsmiths run out of job"

That statement is patently false. Thunderheart, my alt is a Master Armorsmith, (Photari on Lowca) and has been since September.

I don't play him much. He's my alt avatar. I give my guild free armor. All of them. That's right, I give it away to guildmates for free.

My bank from just casual armor sales is well over 3,000,000 credits.

My bank from before armor death decay was put in was over 3,000,000 credits.

Removing armor decay from deaths WILL NOT put armorsmiths out of business.

Armor decays on it's own, during the normal courseof combat.

Nope. It really was wishful thinking...

They removed the need to insure after each death. The 1% decay is tougher to do technically, though I wont give up.

The biggest obstacle to that is if nothing decays then Tailors and Weaponsmiths don't get repeat business...and we need to love them too.

holy $hit on a shingle, you dont play this game do you TH? someone already mentioned that weapons dont decay on death (thank the good lord in heaven). however did you know that clothes CAN STILL BE WORN WITH NO PENALTY EVEN IF THEY HAVE 1/1 CONDITION!??!?!?!?!?!?!??!?

where have you been? i mean seriously. where have you been? tailors get ZERO and i mean ZERO repeat business because of decay on death. weaponsmiths also.... ZERO repeat business.... cause there's no decay!!

armorsmiths, they are the richest SOBs in the entire game. we have an armorsmith selling suits for 1 million credits EACH on my server. think he needs repeat business?

you developers just dont get it. as soon as you put in decay, PvP dropped to a slow trickle. guess what that means..... people are dying less and suffering less decay. did you think pvp would keep on at the same rate or something? you wasted your time. 80% of my armor decay (and im being generous) comes from general PvE damage. guess why... cause i almost NEVER pvp. and just so you know, i probably COULD afford to buy new armor all the time, but its too much of a pain in the ass to get a suit sliced right.

here's another idea to make death sting:

put some sort of talley, like a badge, on people when you examine them.

it should say how many of the other faction they have killed, and how many times they have died to the other faction.

people love badges, and it would be pretty embarassing to see you have been killed like a million times and rarely win.

then maybe you can give a special prize to someone who has a really good record, like a special uniform or badge that goes on your clothes. Rebel killer or Imp killer or something.

that's incentive not to die in pvp.

thats one of the best ideas I have heard... !!!!!!

/2thumbsup

i know it's my idea but i think it's a good one and I don't want it to get overlooked by TH.

TH if you are reading this board this is a message you should read.

First I would like to state that I have NEVER PVPED.... ever. When I heard that this publish was going to take out the pvp decay off items when you get killed I was filled with joy. I immediately went to get some of the nicest gear I could find in preparation for the day this publish went live.

No longer would I have to worry about all those super templates killing me every second. I could enjoy my limited combat skills and not have to worry about my items. This was going to be the opening door to my experience in the galactic war. Also leading to very good roleplaying probabilities.

This is a sad announcement indeed. If you didn't realize you were about to make star wars an actual war. I would of never even thought of entering pvp battles untill I read that the pvp decay was going to be taken out (when insuring items of course ) but I guess this won't happen. So with that I retire from the war with never actually entering the galactic war.

You might was well not release the publish because that was the only thing worth anything.

Thanks again for not enhancing my star wars experience.

why shouldnt your armor decay if you get killed in pvp? you died didnt you?

some of you guys need to quit crying about all the minute details! ther's a reason for decay, it's creates commerce! you guys werent cryin when someone bought weapons or armor or clothes when you were grinding proffessions now were you? so things arent fair sometimes, so things are expensive, i bet those of you crying the most have millions of credits! i dont enjoy decay either, but like life, even the most valuable things we own decay, deal with it...and move on!

p.s. tip your medics and healers ya stingy bastards!

Ok have you even fought in pvp yet? No??! In a pitched pvp battle you die and die very fast. One wrongmove, one wrong calculationand you can get killed faster than you can say "commando".Of course theres always the issue of balance, andsome combat professions are totally crap or are seriously underpowered (Carbineer) and are all but useless in pvp.And dont bring up the issue of commerce. I ask any master armorsmith whohas master merchant and hesays he makes 500k-1 million credits PER DAY. Try that with a combat profession. Stastics show that only 10% of the players participate in the GCW.. hmm I wonder why?? Besides that, alot of people dont even wear armor, because its amoney sink, and your nice250k suite of armor will get torn upwithin a few days of pvp, compared to weeks in PVE. Apparently you havnt died in pvp, or maybe your the onewho enjoys killing people in 1 shot and laughing at their decayednow uselss junk.I mean, its not like repair kits worth a **edit** in this game. Even 99% have a tendancy to break.

Oh yeah remember thisone "your Compsite armor 55/54tears in half in attempt to repair" bye bye 100k!!!

If you ask me keep decay but make 99% repair kits WORK 99% of the time... not this BS 50 50 chanch it will TEAR yourmetal composite armor in half like abrown mejiers bag.

To end this mesage, Id like to say, that to the devs that I will NOT repeat NOT particiapte in pvp(player vs playeruntil this decay stuff is fixed. Our PA base was being raided yesterday, and we needed all the help we could get, but I said

"Sorry, Im not wasting my credits, my equipment, and my time on the mindlesskilling"feature" that is GCW"

Read that loud and clear devs, and until you fixand BALANCE the GCW, i can garentee you that the only war I will be having with is static npc camps... in the hope one day rebels have (useful) perks.
