Thread: Yavin4, Endor, and Dathomir random spawns...

On Bloodfin, since the creation of players cities, I have found Lok and Dantooine to be very thin in random spawns. I can now run for a good 3-4km surveying for resources and never see a random spawn... Previously, I used to be on constant guard in attempt to not get killed, it is one of the reason I got some scout skills! The spawns are so thin now that I'm acutally dropping scout skills for other things! In fact I haven't died to a something spawning on top of me in months nor have I died to a random spawn either... I used to die 3 or 4 times on a survey loop on Lok! Since that time I have only been gaining merchant skill (hit Master Weaponsmith and slmot Master Merchant!) so it's not any improving combat skills or weapons... In fact I can't remember the last time I was 'forced' into a fight on my survey run.... This is both good and bad though... It is taking less time to do my survey work, but at the same time the adrenaline edge is gone too...

It seems the only time you are likely to encounter a random spawn on most adventure planets on Kettemoor is within about 1-1.5km of the starports, where people run missions. This even happens to a certain extent on Tatooine and Corellia, if you head out to the borders of the map where no one ever goes, there will be no spawns.

I have put a In-Game Ticket on this and Bugged it. The only feedback was to bug it which I had already done. Thunderheart maybe you can help get some feedback from developers on this.


Root causes in my opinion: (Shadowfire is the server for my experiences)


1. Servers are not spawning correctly outside of cities on populated planets.


  • Test: Drive from Jedi Temple to the Crystal Caves

  • My Experience: Didn't see a single spawn, during the night so planet was player populated.

2. Servers do not update client with spawns quick enough. If you are on a swoop, you can completely pass a nest without seeing anything pop up. Once you are past it the creatures appear. Servers should know that a player is on a bike and spawn nest/creatures and send updates more frequently or send a broader range of data.



  • Test: Drive 2Km in a swoop, then walk 2Km

  • My Experience: Nest/Creatures spawn before I get to them when walking. When driving, nest spawn when I get to their position and creatures spawn after I pass them (no chance of them aggroing me).

isnt lok supposed to be sort of a wasteland?....and harbor large dangerous creatures like the kimogilas?.....you all make it sound like its supposed to be lush and FULL of life...well, Lok does need more spawn but even tho there are quite a few cities on Lok on Intrepid, the spawns arent affected...Tatooine has ALOT OF CITIES on the Intrepid server, and the spawns arent affected, same with Corellia...then again, all the planets dont seem to have a problem except they all have that random lag spike with the commodities markets not going up for 4-5 seconds.....and i found a melon in the lava on Adi's Rest, the volcanoe of Lok!

We also have this problem occasionally on Dantooine and Corilliea on the Shadowfire server.

I guess valcyn is one of the less popular servers, but we rarely have these problems. there was a while when kamurith hunting was really popular on dathomir, and there was a spawn problem then, but it's cleared up now. endor and yavin work fine, dantooine and lok are a little sparse though.

I cannot say for other servers but on Dantooine, Eclipse being on a speeder or walking makes no difference. I walk all over the planet looking the perfect place to drop my harvesters and rarely see any spawns. The lag is so bad on dantooine it is easier to craft in coronet then on Dantooine

Dantooine on Bloodfin is horrid, you're lucky to hunt an hour with the server crashing and rolling you back to where you started. It needs some serious hardware improvments.

I have this very problem on Naritus. Today, I was tooling around using /maskscent for scouting exp. Once I got away from mission terminals I saw next to no mobs.



This occurred on Dantooine (where I live), Dathomir, Tatooine, Lok, and Naboo. It's been going on for months, but it's one of those things I figured you folks had on the back burner while you took care of priorities. If you are not aware that most planets are barren on most servers, you should look into it. Start around 3 Km from a city and drive around

On Scylla I can sometimes drive 5-10 min without seeing anything on Dant, but on Endor I can't go more then 500-1000m without seeing anything.
