Very cool TH, I think it's very important to make new gamers feel more at home as there's tons of things to learn.

You can't destroy it! it keeps coming back to your data pad! ahhhhhh!!

After your character is 10+hrs old, it will stop returning to your datapad when you destroy it.

I know this is sort of unrelated to the thread, but this post got me thinking...is there a way to check how old our character is?

I have been asking for this kind of info since 2002. I know they track online time for the forums, but I don't care how long I've been online in the forums, only in game. I'd be getting closer to 4,000 hours now.

Please rethink the limited starter locationidea. Sure these 2 cities have lots of people... but they're laden with AFK spam,"d00d are you buffing?", "nerf CM!"and all sorts of weirdness. Better to let new players find these on their own I think.

At least give the new playerthe option to choose, perhaps with a specific mention that Theed and Coronet are good places to meet people of all races and professions... just don't force them there

Something needs to be done about that 'craft 5 CDEF rifles' mission. The mission is cool, butupon completion those rifles need to vanish (that hunting party needs them). With the inclusion of newb missions for marksmen that allow them to get a CDEF weapon of their choice there won't be too many people for all the newb artisans to sell their 5 CDEF rifles to. The end result will be clogging up the bazaar with CDEF rifles that nobody will buy.

Greeeat a new system to help... new.. players. How about you guys FIX the current system and start adding all the new little goodies later! Then again, you'd probably need to give the newcomers a nice welcome, at the rate this "development" is going I forsee thousands of players jumping ship.

- As I see it, Sony has until July 31st 2004 to pull content, balance and most importantly "fun" out of a hat and into the game for me. I guess I can list "buying a non-refundable year's subscription" down as one of the dumbest decisions made in my life. Congradulations SoE, you took 200 bucks from me. -

Please, please rethink Coronet as a starting point for newbies. Ireally can't think of anywhere worse.

Due to the massive lag there on Chimaera and the constant spatial spam its next to impossible to carry out any common task there.

At peak times (between about 7pm and midnight) the Coronet bazaar is completely unusable, crafting takes ages, spatial chat not only scrolls over your chat window faster than you can read it but there is a bout a 30 sec delay before anything you type appears, the vast majority of people there are either AFK or trying to start a 'naff group and are going to be massively unhelpful to newbies.

I've started out in Mos Espa on three different servers and had a great time there each time, there's always a few people around the spaceport who are willing to chat, there's no lag and the bazaar often seems to be kept stocked with cheap newbie goods and cheap clothing for newbies.

Perhaps more NPC cities should be redesignated as starter cities with something measuring the number of players in the area at the time, so that you are sent to a medium-busy town like Mos Eisely, Tyrena, Moenia etc and not a ghost town or a lag-fest.

You aint heard nothing yet....just wait till they have the spam bots up and going. Players will be doing stuff in the area like crafting just to keep their spam bots going and so you will have the spam from the bots, extra players in the area and the added bots. Would not be surprised to see the cities thin out fast as players find out they can not /addignore the bots and how bad the lag is.

Someone mentioned that the bots can only be used by a certain level merchant..but then all the players who sell their wares for the most part have master merchant. So, expect to see a lot more spamming in front of Coronet Starport and Theed Spaceport....Me, I plan on staying on Rori and avoiding the entire mess.

Also, anyone planning on dropping a stinking spam bot in our town....will find themselves banned.

I ran the artisan experience missions last night and I cannot say enough about how great an idea this is. It teaches you the basics so you can begin your Star Wars immersion. I didn't mind starting in Coronet, but then again, it was 2 in the morning EST and there weren't too many people around.

I find it to be a fantastic idea to start in Theed or Coronet. Adding Bestine would be a good idea. But putting the new player into a populated city is fine. They load in front of Coronet spam city and see all the AFK Spammers...oh well. They'll see it at some point. But there are also players who are there, interacting with each other and helping others out. I can't think of a better way to introduce the new person to the game. They can ask questions to people right away or use the droid for assistance.

They can always walk away from the starport to a less populated area so they can sit down and and do the experience missions, or they can interact with people right away.

Devs, this is a fantastic addition to the game. I applaud your efforts and I realise that some aspect of the new experience will change before it hits live, but you have hit the nail on the head on this one.

Bravo, my good man!! Bravo!!
