How are the new lighting objects working for you?

Trying to decorate my small house with 4 free standing lamps was impossible because they were too bright compared to torches. A slider to adjust desired brightness would be nice.

Did you craft them? What decay lifespans were you able to achieve?
Not a crafter.

Did you purchase them?
Yes, but they last for too short a time to be of any permanant decorative use. Maintenance for these should be introduced instead of the decay system.

I *LOVE* the new lighting objects.

But I *HATE* the time they last.

With everybody and their brother hologrinding (STILL! :smileymad - it's very hard to find a dedicated furnishings maker.

Making the light objects have a time on them is basically a money sink. You aren't really helping the people who make them b/c the people who buy them will just leave them there and not replace them when they die out.

These are neat... but I have a few problems with them already

Some of the lights the glow from them is too harsh... Feels like some of them need to be toned down just a bit...

I like the look of the lights... But I honestly dont care for the fact that they burn out... reminds me to much of our real world Lights that burn out all the time at the worst time (IE while carrying in groceries and filping the switch and it stays off and then triping over something...)

Yes I bought some...

I am happy with them burning out... but the over bright lights are hard to look at... I will be sticking with my Everburning torches for a while longer...

I would love to be able to post about how much I LOVE the new lighting....alas.....not possible. I'm bugged. I can trade the lights, and the trade shows as secure, but the items never show in my pack, or in my inventory count. I can't see them when other people place them either. A friend e-mailed me a great screen shot of them, and I think they look wonderful! I'm one of those crazy decorating people who will buy them and buy them and buy them when they burn out....but only if I can see them

Hmm, where can I get a list (preferably with pics) of all the new and old lights? And statues, for that matter? I'm a mayor, but not a crafter, so I would like to know if there are any new lights that can be used outside for city decorations?

Lights do not light up charcater models. I can stand in font of each and every light and my face is always a silhouette.

Did the devs stop reading this thread? How about SOME kind of acknowledgment of the decay problems in the factories and banks?

Its this kind of blowoff that people get grumpy over

they dont need to respond because they knew about it 2-3 weeks ago...

none of us are telling them anything new

seems like they just work in things until patch day, release it with all its bugs and mistakes and then never fix them.

In regards to the new lighting in the game and their time lasting effects. It takes quit a bit of effort to place these object exactly where we want them and once the candles or lights burnout and we want new ones we'll have to spend alot of time setting them where we want again. How about instead of having the lights and candles decay, add in lightbulbs and matches that we can use to relit the objects once they burnout eliminating the need to spend hours moving things around. I also would like to see a smaller area on these things. Two candles and a torch in my living room makes the light unbearable. I was thinking we'd be able to place lamps down as well as candles. Some colored Lamps would be nice too.

Lamps and Candles decay on Vendors and in Crates. This Decay idea was a poor one to begin with. Architectsdon't know how to handle items that decay and this proves it. The market for the lamps and candles will be out of wack until there is no decay on them, or the decay is much longer. Also different colors would be nice as well. Added at the end like streetlamps. Please fix these. You were so happy that you were adding them and now they are not working as intended. I know this must upset the team so let us know yer working to fix it.

Sure, realisitcally a candle is going to die out. But also realistically drinking some alcohol does not make my mind clearer and more powerful. Please re-think the decay issue, its not a gamebreaker so give the people what they want.

I've crafted samples of each style.

I like the look of the candles. Very nice and lots of options. Good job there.

I think they decay too fast. If you increase the resource requirements and add to the decay time then that would help. Candles die out way too fast and should be at least a month minimum.

I have a lot of customers interested in them but I fear their interest will die out quickly when they get tired of placing candles every week.

All the lighting objects work fine for me. Though, as others have mentioned, the lighting in most of the houses is a little bright for any significant effect to be seen. The flickering effect on the candles is dead on though

I've made candles that ranged from as little as 6 days up to 16and lamps that ranged from 28-32 days.
