Thread: Publish 9 Feedback: Loot Kits
Both look interesting so I will try to find a junk dealer to get one of the kits.
So you are saying that if you need 10 parts...getting your item 20 days from now... (1 part every two days).. is TOO LONG?
It's not really 20 days. Assuming that a player recieves 1 loot kit part every 2 days, and assuming that a player doesn't recieve any duplicates of these items it can take anywhere between 20 to 50 days to complete 1 kit. Why? Simply because you could be trying to get an orange rug, but you loot parts for the table, gong, blue rug and statue before comming across the parts you need for the orange rug. Now if we factor in duplicate items there is a possability (all be it a low probability) that you will never be able to loot all 10 items for the kit your attempting to do. As I stated before the rate needs to be increased slightly so that they drop as often as crystals that would be a good compromise in my opinion. If they intend to keep the rate as it is now then they should increase the reward junk dealers will give you for these items.
I would like to see loot drops such as "stone knife" become way, way, way more rare (or just get rid of them altogether) in favor of more things like this. The crafting professions still have a job as these loot kits require a lot of collection.
Stone knives and similar are pretty worthless and are annoying to have to destroy. They have become like copper is in EverQuest -- why even drop it from mobs?

As for the loot drop rate, I think the rate is perfect. I hear about people camping for hours and hours and hours..... How about this... How about stop camping and just play the game? Through the course of playing, you'll receive.... a loot drop! And then another, and another.... Soon, you will have all of the components you need and you will have your collector's item.
I hunted NPCs for nearly 7 hours last nite with a group of 8 people. We did NOT find a single piece for any of these quests. That's a broken system. The drop rate is far far from perfect. Players do not want to spend MONTHS "just playing" the game to eventually get a reward. We want visible progress for our efforts. That's why people camp.
You're completely wrong about "soon" we'll have our components. If that's true, where's the finished products? This patch has been tested for how many weeks and we've seen ONE completed item? That's a far from perfect system.
And yet other people in this thread have found loot items. And received these awards.
Do you have a character on every server? Are you asking everyone you see on every server if they have these finished products? Does every person who plays the game come to these forums and post about the finished products they've received? The answer is no to all of these questions.
Just because you haven't seen them, doesn't mean people aren't out there doing it right now and getting things fine.
Also, maybe you were fighting the wrong NPCs. Or those NPCs have less of a loot drop rate than others. I don't know. You don't need to take the time to tell me everything you killed, because I don't really care. The whole point is, the devs don't tellhow every system in the game works for a reason. If you knew how the drops worked, or what NPCs dropped what, then camping is exactly what happens. As well as people finishing content quickly and then saying: "Ok, I'm done with that. What else do you have for me?"
I'll say it again. Don't touch the loot drop rate for these kits. Keep it EXACTLY how it is. Do not take this new content and make it faster for people to obtain what they want.
I completely agree with you. Leave the drop rate as it is please. I can't tell you how annoying it is for a new feature to be added to the game and a week later everyone is bored with it. Why because people camp and don't just "Play the Game!!". Why does everyone seem to think if they havent found something thats dropping in one day then its broken. I applaud the devs for having something in the game you need to work for. I haven't found anything yet, but i will, and when i get it completed i will be excited because it took a while for me to get it.
Now that being said I do agree with a post earlier in this thread that a schematic could have been used. This would have definitely included the crafting professions. Perhaps that could be added. Maybe you could have a similar formula but before you can craft the whole item you would have to bring it to an architect or droid engineer etc. They would then use the looted component to make another piece that would fit inside the loot kit. Or better yet Make the loot kit an essential item needed by a crafter to make something else. I for one would hunt to get all the items just to sell the kit to another player instead of a junk dealer.
Just some thoughts. In general its a real nice addition though. Thanks ![]()
