Thread: Friday Feature Player Cities Part 1 First
I'm not the least bit upset, as my PA was able to get it's City Hall planted in time, but still I say to you Q3PO there's a big-time lesson in this for your team...
If you had taken the time to discuss this cap with the Community, or even taken seriously the discussions made after the cap information was leaked...you would've avoided this situation by being told very clearly by your players that this wasn't going to work as intended. Almost all players involved agreed that a higher population requirement would have been a much more fair, enjoyable, and naturalway to roll Player Cities out. Players would have understood the limits in advance and had time to prepare and adjust to them.
Like I said, I personally have no reason to be upset since my PA was able to placeour City Hall, but I have to wonder at just what happened to the team that used to pay such close attention to the testers during beta. You guys have all sorts of tools and metrics to help you track what's going on, but your players have the gut instincts about these things that only players can have. We all told you exactly what would happen and also told you what we would have preferred to have happen instead. You weren't at all listening.
Ask yourself if this is the way you want your team to operate or not. Really, I'd like to know because the wonderful impression that I got of your teamduring beta is fading fast and if this game's development is going to begin ignoring the opinions of it's players then it'll soon be ruined, for me at least.
My advice to your teamis to learn the value of your player's gut reaction to things. It's correct far more often than it's not, and it can only be obtained by actually engaging the player base in real development discussion.
Sly is onto it... Why arent you folks surrounding the first cities with your houses? Those cities expand and you become residents and vote the first mayor out of office. Viola! Your city! (of course they'll then stop gloating about being first and start whining how you were able to take over their hard work, but thats a different chapter in history)
You wantedsurvival of the fittest right? The challenge to you now is who can best cooperate with the most number of people and retain control over the largest cities. Cities were not meant to be private little empires. Get over it! Start scheming on how you can rise to the top of the political heap.
Use your political savvy... bribes... jedi mind tricks... whatever it takes. ![]()

My congradulations to all that have made cities.
But heck being first city when you build on Naboo or Tatooine is nothing.
Helfire Outpost is on Lok -- Lowca server. It is over 8000m from the nearest Shuttleport and you have to dodge pirates and Kimogillas to get there.
Now that is a bit of dedication just to get there and we already have 30 or more declared residences.
We had a Giant Dune Kimogilla spawn just 200m outside the city limits on our first day. Yes, the GDK is now a more random spawn and not just at that little village. Unfortunately we killed it 3 times with no RIS Quest scale drop.
Again congradulations to all that have created a city.

Still waiting for the update on the first player cities on Euro servers that was promised on November the 17th.
With the debacle that has been the first round of voting for mayor and our chosen mayor getting 0 xp and 0 help from CSRs, at least throw us a bone and show who was first on the server.
I dont know if this is the right place for me to submit my idea, but here it goes. In order to make the out lying planents a little more desirable take out the layovers on the planents. Use a final destiontion option.
Example:
Player on Talus wants to go to Rori, thats a stop on Corellia, and then, Naboo, to get to Rori.
Why not just choose Final destination Rori add in the price for the connecting flights but do away with the layover. I mean a very unlucky player could have to wait 30 min in a starport to get to final destination. I know this was a big concern with my guild mates, and probably that of others as well. Heck you could even charge a little more for a direct flight than if someone hopped, some people like the hops I am sure but give us the option, I rather pay an extra 2k credits not to have to wait because of a glitch and i missed the shuttle, which has happened a lot. Thank you
Disclaimer: I did not pay attention to spelling that much so there may be some misspelled words. Please dont flame me for it I am only human. Thank you in advance

This week we bring you a two part Friday Feature. I'll start with a shout out to the Mayors and their friends who were pumped and ready to go yesterday. Here is a list of the very first player created city for the galaxies.
I apologize to the European galaxies. I have not yet received the data, so we might not be able to announce those ones until Monday.
Congrats, Mayors! You are "First!"
Thunderheart is still working on Part 2 of the Friday Feature for you. It should be up in the next hour or so.
Okay, I'm a full week late on this and I apologize. Turns out the European logs saved in a different place than the U.S. logs. It took about a week to track down the right people to get the proper permissions to display the info. It took about 5 minutes to find the info once we had the correct path/log-in info. So without further excusing making...
Chimaera:
City: New Hamburg
Mayor: Alder
FarStar:
City: Aartan Ridge
Mayor: Novus
WOOHOO, thank you finally Q.
Now if you could just let us know why Novus has so far received zero XP our day will be complete.
What, you mean being the Mayor of the 1st CIty on your server isn't enough? You want xp too? WHat are you thinking!
You got plenty of head start just being first, heh.
