Chilastra - City: Mos Swiggy - Mayor: Swiggy Midget
Corbantis - City: REDEYE - Mayor: Money Grubber

Flurry - City: Cookieville - Mayor: phijawrio's clone

This is how you know the DEVS dont care about wrongful player names. Cookieville? That doesnt ruin immersion and look at the Mayor names..Think they'll crack down on those retarded names? It's not like they had to searchf or them they are very public names now...

Q-3PO,

You must be kidding! All you do is cry balance nerf nerf nerf! You strive to create a game based on merit and reward. Great idea! Then you (I mean SOE I say this because you might be a little slow base on your post) allow the most anticipated feature since the game began, to be based on nothing more than who logged on faster. Do you even know how bad people feel about this happening? Our future mayor has not logged on since the patch. We were on placing our hall in 15 minutes of servers loading. We got bumped by 5 guys who moved in next to our location over night. I'm sorry I do not want to insult but posting this information just shows your ignorance to the negative impact this patch has had on players. Guarantee you will loss customers over this. Just read the threads. I really like seeing the name of the ASSES who moved in overnight and ruined our chances a group of 30 to place their hall whichI paid 500k for and can not use. I have defended SOE over and over again but my eye are now clear. You are all just idiot buisnessmen who know nothing about the impact on the customers your poorly thoughtout features have. I will never defend you again. Boy was I wrong!

Let me send out Thanks to the people in Intergalactic Outfitters that made it Possible: Sethnor for getting the deed made lightining fast and with redundant supllies, Fenster for being there to clear the area of nasties, and Reyune for being there during the 7-hour wait for the servers to come up (ironically, missing the event by about 5 minutes cause he had to go to class). Funny thing is, half the "plan" didn't even happen! It took so long to load the server that we couldn't do it. If it had, I coulda shaved about 3 minutes off the time.

/sniff I'll always remember the day: Sethnor popping in with an IM now & then updating us about Server status, Felton ignoring the paperwork on his desk at work to watch the IM windows and reading the SWG Forums, Reyune snoring into the microphone after he passed out at the computer around hour 6 (heheheh). Then the visit to the European servers to verify SOE hadn't done something nasty with the Politician Trainer location or the City Hall deed. And finally, Loading!!

I have a name for your city 3PO - its "Phuc Hue" . Just **edit** and crawl back in your hole. I wasnt even planning a city, but I can see that this was once again designed for the powergammer sitting in mom and dads basement. Not everyone can sit by the computer trying to get in and place a city. Then "Oh, let's congratulate the little **edit**s" on how good they did.

What I like about my story is that everyone gets out of it something different:

The sun rose on Corellia, dripping with a promise of new hopes and new dreams.

I got up from where the shuttle dropped me, directly at the steps of the Coronet Capitol building. You can't pay for service like this, but I know some friends.

Looking around, I saw my bodyguard had assembled. Maris Paradis was being moved (by court order and those damned Selonians) to a fairly remote part of Corellia. We knew that my person would be in danger.

We synchronized our comlinks and zeroed them on the same channel. A quick check confirmed the plan was in motion.

Three of the Maris Paradis Volunteers stood in the square of the new city, 5.5km from where I stood. They surrounded the Architect who was making our deed for approval by the Diktat.

Two Volunteers surrounded me. This guard would be augmented by others clearing specific parts of the route to the new site.

Along the way we would stop at the old Town Hall for Maris Paradis. Long ago our dreams were of building there, before the Corellian Supreme Court sided with the Selonians and their damnable Corell/Selonian Grave Repatriation Act. CoSGRA had destroyed the hopes ofthat city, but we knew a newera was coming for Maris Paradis.

Running 250 metersahead of me were two other Volunteers, our military force; they cleared any agressive wildlife away. Meanwhile the bodyguard in the new site broke up, clearing out creatures from around the city, to ensure safe passage for all comers.

Within minutes the longest run of my life was over - 6 kilometers all told. We were jumped several times by thugs attracted by our perceived wealth. We constantly passed corpses of creatures and villains whom our scouts up ahead had cleared. It all came to a head 2 kilometers from the new site.

Our scouts had gotten bogged down in a nest of Mottled Wrix. My own bodyguard were wounded, and I was in the rear, forced to make the critical decision.

If I called to continue, one of ours may fall and miss the construction of the Hall. We couldn't wait on anyone who couldn't keep up.

But my Volunteers were the best. Motivated, they charged straight into battle, with their pets attacking the pride of wrix. I continued straight through, the prize of the city and unharmed by the sacrifice of our team.

We quickly linked up with the other Volunteers who started from the new site. A protective circle was made around me, layers deep, to ensure the Architect and the Politician would make their trade.

Icalled all to gather, soldiers of Maris Paradis, escorting the last of the merchants and less-combat-prepared, all converging at the site of our new city.

Within seconds, we dropped the Hall. A cheer went up from the people assembled. We had waited hours, in orbit in shuttles for clearance to land. Endured hardships of battle, of boredom, for this moment.

A skyscraper pierced the Corellian morning. A skyscraper built by many hands working together as one. No politician could ever build such a city on his or her own. No architect could work their materials and make such a city.

For in the end, every citizen of Maris Paradis had a role to play. From the scouts, to the soldiers, to the crafters, to the politician, every one had to work together to make this morning a reality.

Maris Paradis is not about a symbol, ora person, but about an dream. And that dream finally became real this morning, scant minutes after groggily stepping from the shuttles that dropped us.

Welcome to Maris Paradis. We worked hard to bring it to you.

Is part two of the friday feature called "Not First"? Does it have a list of the other 95%of the playersthat can't have player cities for another month?

It just rubs me the wrong way you congratulate a handful of people while the rest of your playerbase is outin the cold.

Yeah I would love to know how it only took some under 7 minutes to place a city? How in the world could an architect have built the city hall so quickly. Thanks for giving others a shot at doing something that most of us have been waiting for since we started playing the game. I really appreciate it agian the developers weren't thinking just how this was going to effect anyone.

I do want to congratulate those that have a city and good luck.

But know I have a skill and it's useless surrendered other skills for politician only to get slapped in the face when I wanted to place a city hall!

well, about about 30 or so hours after the patch went live, and we couldn't place our City Hall on Naboo the day before, our guild had a meeting and decided to try Rori or Dantooine. Well, about 6 hours later we found a great location and gave it a try. Weplaced our City Hall. So it can still be done, if you are willing to uproot and move to a new planet.

It would have been good that there was a city wide chat channel for declared residents ofany establishedplayer city, similiar to the PA guild chat.

With each PA guild chat, those that are in a city as declared residents and are not part of a PA, can no longer chat if their fellow citizens are joining inner city guilds. Members joining Faction, or specific guilds will lose this and go through /tell storms constantly,

There should have been some city wide communications available to the Mayor or anofficer the mayor chooses to handle this communications, once the city hall is placed, todelegate the communciation work load for large population cities.

Also the limit on the citizens being truncated over 75 needs to be raised, so when checking the declared citizens listing - all are able to be seen, have it scroll or allow for additional pages.

This has to be bothering every player on all 22 servers if they have this problem, or suddenly lose contact with those they are close too.

Why the Dev's or SOE did not implement this beyond comprehension except to (inadvertantly) grief us all.

Looking over the list, you gotta figure that the Mayor for each city must be pretty experienced(and dang lucky) to pull of getting first for each city. Can't the Mayors at least have appropriate names that fit the genre?

I would like to publicly call shame upon the lame choice of names:

Redwing (shoes? hockeyteam?)

Swiggy Midget (I'm sure he is, but lame name)

Money Grubber (ditto)

phijawrio's clone (Sure he's a clone, but still makes lame name. And no caps?)

Metaphrax (close one. it's almost a name)

Kicker (nuf said)

And yeah, maybe my own choice of names ain't the best, but I ain't Mayor... and it's not that bad...
